Difficult but fun! The blobs feel nice and responsive.

amras0000 2017-12-04 03:07

I love the concept but the controls feel way too floaty for me, and the bullets are pretty hard to dodge. I wasn't able to survive very long. I feel that in a bullet hell it's important that the character stops moving when I let go of a button.

Restarting the game is also more laborious than it needs to be. I'm presented with a button, which I have to ignore or else spend a long time waiting for a connection. Instead I need to press R on my keyboard, then press Enter, then reach over for my mouse to click 'Go'. In a game where I'm going to die after a couple of seconds, I need to be back in the game the moment I press 'R'.

Still, I like the concept, would have liked more polish but can't expect too much from the timeframe.

Loved the game! It could do with a quick restart button though (to let you jump right back into the action after you die).

ryuzaki-mrl 2017-12-04 03:13

Hm. Is adding a quick restart button against the rules, i.e: it's considered a "new feature"?

mad-fizban 2017-12-04 03:15

Great game, very responsive. I did run into an issue where the scores would not load at the end which meant I could not replay without refreshing the page (WebGL). Other than that great work!

untitled-studios 2017-12-04 03:21

Hmmm... I suppose that it would be a new feature.

fiakaiera 2017-12-04 03:25

I tried it out but @amras0000 is right here. The concept is really cool and it is indeed too floaty, adding to the idea that it's hard to dodge. If anything, the friction to stop should be really higher in this one if you want to keep it smooth when you let go of a button.

The upload button is misleading as it is. A retry button is better or the mention that hitting the Enter they will get you back to the menu. A quick restart is really nice.

Graphics-wise, definitely as counter-intuitive as it is, the bullets need to be a bit more thick. At least by 1 pixel. It might make the hitbox bigger, but it's better to see where the bullets are going than, thin hard-to-see lines are coming at you.

If you plan on continuing this, making the bullets a bit slower is a really good idea. Since this is a bullet hell game, reaction is key and with fast bullets, it starts to become really impossible to react. I got hit by a stray bullet coming from the top and I can't react to it. If you could, I suggest as well adding a color function to those bullets so that the nearer the bullets are, the easier for them to see. (like black or red)

It needs more polish but otherwise, good work!

I agree that "dodging" the tiny bullets is pretty difficult, especially if you collect even a handful of blobs. That said, the game concept is solid, just needs a little refinement!

formalcloud 2017-12-04 04:14

This is a neat concept, bullets are very challenging!

ryuzaki-mrl 2017-12-04 04:43

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm still new to ludum dare so I don't quite know what can be updated and when, after the deadline.

sholf 2017-12-04 05:04

Looks like the best way to score is to try to collect the blobs in a way that it clumps into a circle. Cool idea, had a decent amount of fun playing it. I do wish that there's a quick retry button without uploading your score as others have mentioned, and it would be helpful if the bullet speeds aren't as random. Other than that it's a neat game!

hacksawunit 2017-12-04 05:22

This is a very interesting concept. Nice execution! The aesthetic adjustments are a nice touch. I think that the floaty controls aren't actually a bad thing, but could be complimented with more forgiving projectiles.

saucygames 2017-12-04 05:42

I like growing my blob, only problem I had was with the upload button, would get stuck at 'Loading scores...' each time, a restart button after dying would be nice.

sbarrio 2017-12-04 08:40

Nice take on the theme, and hard as hell :)

rincewind-cz 2017-12-04 15:27

Lasers are really hard to see [edit: oh, i noticed it can be switched to gray/darker -- that's much better] and it could be just little bit slower. General idea is nice though.

bocodillo 2017-12-04 19:00

Fits the theme well and is a good game all around. Liked the addition of difficulty and graphics settings. The bullets are little hard to see though and a little too fast. Would've liked to be able to restart after playing a round rather than have to refresh or upload a score but an upload for a scoreboard is a great feature.

chong-lee 2017-12-04 21:47

Fitts the theme very well and is fun to play! It's nice to be able to change the difficulty!

fashionbatman 2017-12-05 02:10

Gosh this need a quick restart. But once i started getting the hang of it it was really fun. Good job!

ryuzaki-mrl 2017-12-05 05:17

Made some balancing: - Bullets are 1 pixel thicker and also a bit slower. - Adjust blob friction.

abilean 2017-12-05 12:47

I suck at this game.... but it's wonderfully addictive and a lot of fun. Fits the theme really well.

moeshan 2017-12-06 08:26

this is the kind of game that i really love but can never play...

jani-nykanen 2017-12-06 08:46

Nice, challenging game.

hegemege 2017-12-06 19:33

Simple but fun. Good thing you included the dark background! Solid controls for this type of avoiding game.

drazil100 2017-12-07 03:39

Pretty solid and well polished! I enjoyed it though I was never any good at this! xD

mipelius 2017-12-07 18:45

This game is quite challenging... maybe even too challenging for me! But I still liked the game!

ryfi 2017-12-10 04:09

Great game, not necessarily new or innovative, but it has a simple concept and easy gameplay :)

illabom 2017-12-12 01:36
