I love how you are "nom'd" and one "noms" :)

r-rivera 2012-04-24 00:36

Very simple, yet very addictive! I liked the nomming.

kevinworkman 2012-04-24 00:57

Good looking game, but it would have been cooler if you played up the amoeba premise! Also, I like your options screen.

headchant 2012-04-24 09:17

Great a bit too easy but great!

vrld 2012-04-25 11:54

Nom Nom Nom! Nice game!

graytest 2012-04-25 15:29

Fun. Would be more fun if I grew as I was eating though.

gormio 2012-04-26 20:40

I feel dirty after this love (or is it löve)

$> yum install love
$> man love

I like it! Well done! Good theme, simple game play. However, when you move the mouse rapidly, you morph into a huge amoeba and it becomes confusing where you actually are.

Good stuff though, and it even had options! :D

j_peeba 2012-04-27 04:58

Quite enjoyable! Of course it was a little straightforward so more variation or escalation would've been nice.

Nice and cohesive, I liked how the undulating background complemented the delayed synth lines. I got 42 noms. I love the visual effect of increasing your amoebae parts in proportion to how fast you are zooming around the screen -- I couldn't tell if it had any effect mechanic-wise though. The evil noms were mildly threatening without being overpowered. I had hoped that I would grow in-game, but that is because I secretly wish every game was "Shark! Shark!" The introduction where you sort of zoom in from big circle mode was a nice touch. I think with some more variety, this could be a good fit for a micro iOS game.

I, too, wished that you could grow larger. Still this is a cool game. Nice graphical style.

I gave you bonus humor points for the option screen, which made me laugh out loud. :-)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I knocked this thing out in about seven hours after scrapping my original idea. The lack of time should explain the limited gameplay, but I think it worked out well.

As for the blowfish effect @aquasheep mentioned, I originally wanted to render the amoebae as a group of ellipses so when they got stretched it wouldn't take up half the screen, as happens with circles. Unfortunately love2d doesn't support ellipse rendering and I didn't have direct access to an OpenGL context. The effect actually grew on me after a while.

I'm glad the options screen is such a big hit! :p
In hindsight it would have been trivial to add hotkeys for toggling fullscreen / audio. Oh well.

Thanks again!

hegemege 2012-04-27 09:53

Very solid game for what it is, although growing larger would've been cool, so I could've nommed those bullies >:D

Liked the audio and simplistic graphics, in overall an enjoyable small game :)

permanent7 2012-05-01 04:05

Pretty fun. A little unoriginal but still fun.

dcolgan 2012-05-02 18:27

I got 76 noms! Love it. Very polished, and I approve of your snarky menu entry.

grimfang4 2012-05-10 17:06

Music and sound were a little annoying. It's no Osmos, for sure, but reasonably enjoyable.

maxman43 2012-05-13 04:53

I would play this if there was a web version. Looks interesting

scgrn 2012-05-13 07:49

@dcolgan 76 is pretty good! I've only broken 100 a couple of times and I made the damn thing.

xsmalldeadguyx 2012-05-13 09:06

Great game, fun and nice graphics. Audio was pretty good too. My only comment would be that it's not particularly original, although it's still fun.

jiddo 2012-05-13 09:56

I really like the looks of the game. It has this interesting sort of ambient style somehow, which is cool. The game play mechanics were simple but felt polished. It's nice that you added an options menu for all those essential options.

I couldn't get the Linux download to work tho. As soon as I started the game I got a segmentation fault. The windows version worked just fine through Wine tho. I'm using LOVE 0.8.0 (Rubber Piggy).

jedi 2012-05-13 19:00

Pretty fun, but it didn't keep me playing for very long. The music was a little annoying and I really wanted to grow so I could eat those bigger things!

moth 2012-05-13 22:39

Got 79 noms!

Beautiful graphics and effects, and I really like the super crunchy atmospheric soundtrack. I like how the lumps of the amoeba grow in exaggerated squash/stretch motion when you go around quickly, nice touch!

Really simple and fun arcadey title here, great presentation :)

drabiter 2012-05-14 00:35

It's fun, good job!
