Boy, this game is DIFFICULT!
@FrankieSmilieShow: Well, you can move around, use things and make new things... Barely ;)
@cakemonitor: Yeah, the crafting and searching for stuff was added literally in the last hours, so I had no time for balancing. The scope of this project was just too big for me. Will do better next time. Also thanks for the kind words about sound effects. This was one thing I put a lot of effort into. :)
@caranha: What OS are you on? OSX?
I really enjoyed those sound effects. This and the minimal music carried the mood very well. Good job!
Somehow I cannot stop playing this. Great job!
It's certainly ... interesting. I noticed there is something happening when I bring two people together. Not sure what with the time at the bottom though. The music goes well with the graphics. As the others already said, it would be nice if the lizard was bigger. I often totally lost it on the screen.
Original gameplay and consistent art style. Very good entry!
Great fun! I liked the levels with multiple planets. Wish there had been more of them. Some simple sound effects would also have done wonders.
Very well done. As said in a previous comment: We need more strategy games! This will stay on my disk for some time to come :)
As said before: "Nice, could see lots of potential there for more levels." Reminds me of some DOS platformers that I used to play. Though I couldn't name your one - it's just the *feeling*.
I cannot get the game to run under Gentoo Linux (64 bit). Error message:

Is there some way to run the game from source? What are the dependencies?
Packaging for Linux is a bitch, isn't it? But now it works so I am happy :)
As for the game: It's fun, but the controls make it just a bit too hard in my opinion. Making the spaceship accelerate less when I push a button would be one option to fix this. The other way would be use the Asteroids control scheme, i.e. just acceleration and turn. This would get rid of having to coordinate 9 buttons and allow to maneuver at more than 9 angles.
Having camera that follows the spaceship when not in the planet or being bounced back when leaving the screen also would have been nice. In my first three attempts I accelerated too much and went of the screen unable to ever come back.
TL;DR: Simple and effective gameplay, but lacks in execution.
Very short, but I can see where this game is headed. And I like it. The graphics are beautiful, especially the rocket particle effect.
"Fun" is not the right word. But the game captures you. I couldn't stop until I got that damn grail thing. Well done :)
Was this supposed to be a Theme Park like game? I couldn't quite figure it out yet.
Nice game! I really like the atmosphere.
Thanks for the comments! Being well rested now I agree with your comments: The game and the interface is too complicated. More tutorial and in game help would have been necessary. Also the difficulty curve is quite too steep. Even if you know about designing state machines using logic circuits. But I guess that's what you get when you don't plan enough time for level design. Lesson learned ;)
Overall a fun game, though a little too easy - I played to a score of about 5000 and then decided it was more fun killing the customers. Maybe a time limit for delivering the customers would have been good. Other than that: Solid entry. You should really try to provide a windows build so that more people can play it. It's worth it.
The game does not work for me. This is the error message I get:
Error: nah/lef.lua:238: 'for' limit must be a number
stack traceback:

I will try again later when I am on windows.
Very entertaining. Reminds me of Kill all Humans - definitely a good thing!
The game is too slow. Otherwise nice idea.
Very well executed. And once you forget about moving left/right and use only <s> and <space> the controls are not so bad after all ;)
Very interesting idea, but gets repetitive really quick. Just circling around the planet with the occasional shield gets you very far. With a little more polish (e.g. bigger, maybe different planets and building with health bar instead of one-hit-kills) this could be a real hit though. :)
Very cool. Also very difficult ;)
Pro: The graphics look wonderful and audio is above standard.
Con: The game is really easy: I got > 100 kils by just standing at the left corner of the screen hitting space.
Simple, but so much fun!
Could be more fun with reworked controls (allow going back, less moon-like jumps, slower acceleration, maximum speed).
The best game I played so far! A bit slow at the beginning and ending, but the in between is so much fun!
Amazing as always.
Thanks for the nice reviews!
SelectricSimian: Is the .app corrupted or can't you download the file? I can't test it because I don't have a mac :/
Scott McBee: Do you recall what the error said?
Graf_Grun: Not to spoiler you, but that's the point: You (or rather the computer) can only win PacMan if you don't kill him. And you have to follow the SpaceInvader pattern: Left until you reach the end, down one row, right until you reach the end, down one row, ... ;)
Hume: Yeah, he does that from time to time. I really have no clue why though. But then again, it's easier to kill a paralyzed Pac Man...
Hint: The coder is the true villian ^^
Cannot (but would like to play), because of a missing libBox2D.so.2.1.0.
Very addicting and fun game with superb audio. However it's a bit hard to coordinate the inputs - increasing the rockets hit-box size probably would add value to the experience.
Very cool! Love the goat :D
I take my hat off to you, sir or madam.
I really love the athmosphere your game creates through simple graphics and sound. It really feels like a zombie/survival horror game. Only downside: The mechanic isn't too much fun, at least to me. Still one of the better entries I played so far :)
Easily one of my favorite games so far. Solid mechanics and level design, beautiful graphics with a lot of attention to detail and a catchy soundtrack. A++ would (and will) play again!
Took a while to get used to the controls, but then the game feels really great. Can't wait to play this with some friends.
It's also a shame we can only give 5 stars for audio. The music is great!
Very great concept, graphics and sound are top notch. But restarting each level from the beginning when I failed because I didn't choose the right ability felt a little unfair.
Innovative take on the theme, with solid graphics and user interface, so it's a real bummer the game isn't too much fun :/
Very ambitious game for 48 hours.
Oh god, this is awesful! It's punishing as hell ("why would you do that", etc.), but in a very fun way. I can easily see this as a full game in the spirit of McPixel. Well done!
A great idea and very well executed.
Woodman for president!
Fun game, great graphics and a cool soundtrack.
Wonderful graphics, great music and loads of fun. Only drawback: It's too short ;)
Interesting and fun concept. Combining the two layers of puzzles adds a lot to either "sub"-gerne. The only complaint is that it takes too long to try out if a solution works (i.e. doing something, going back to the reactor, seeing that it didn't work, go to the room again, ...). Especially in later rooms (mess hall, sciency room), a shortcut would have been nice. Nonetheless, great game!
Cool idea, but the game is a little too short. A neverending mode with an increasing number of asteroids could be fun.
This is a really good idea, but the execution could be better, especially in player feedback, general "juiciness" and graphics. If you overcome these issues the game could indeed become something bigger!
I won! Have no idea how, because I just randomly clicked syringes until the patient survived. I never read what the assitant said (until it was too late).
The graphics, sound and implementation of the theme are superb, but it's not too much fun since it's too hard to make out how to win the game.
With better visual feedback the game would be great, like this it is "only" very good. I think that's ok for a first ludum dare ;)
@losinggeneration: well, you have to banter with 10 seconds. it's a bit of stretch, but i didn't want to make a game about time ;)
@josefnpat: the game breaking bug is fixed now (i was told this is ok). the overlapping "stop music" button thing is annoying (that's what you get when adding this feature literally on the last minute, i guess), but it's possible to win the game without it, so no fix there.
@ lcarpentier, @xfxian, @Ciaran54, @BerdiNerdi: Repacked the game for windows and tested with Windows 7 64 bit. Not sure what went wrong before.
@Omar_q8: I interpreted 'second' not as unit of time, but as the agent of participants in a duel. you face ten of them, hence: ten seconds ;)
@rfgpfeiffer: That... is very odd. I've never seen this error before. What OS (and Kernel version) are you running? Did you compile love yourself or did you use a binary release?
Really well executed game, but not mentioning the very similar "Ten Second War" (http://tensecondwar.wordpress.com/, also a LÖVE game) leaves a bitter aftertaste.
It's still very impressive what you managed to pull off in 48 hours. Kudos!
I am ERROROUS (broken link)
What a great game. It's fun as hell, the graphics superb and the audio is really, really good. I'll go with the others: Fantastic job!
Cool concept, and very fun to play. More characters would have been interesting, but the three available are adequate for a 48 hour game (read: I would love to see an extended, post-ld version).
The only winning move is (for all others) not to play?
Ursa miner gives a nice Descent feeling (good job on that), but it doesn't really feel like a finished game. Here are my main points (in case you want to develop this further - please do!):
1) Add an arrow to point to the airlock (like in Freespace). It's really hard to find it using the XYZ coordinates in the upper left corner alone.
2) Better feedback, e.g.screenshake when firing the vaporizer, particle effec when collecting gems, oxygen bar instead of a number, stuff like that.
3) Background - less black (dark greyish blue could work) and maybe add a few stars
4) Afterburner!
Graphics and sounds are fantastic. The feeling reminds me of Virus 2000 somehow (though that is a totally different game). However, the controls are a little weird and make it hard to actually play the game (it took five tries to get to wave 2, highest I got before quitting was wave 5).
Still, good game overall!
Interesting concept, and the feeling reminds me of Prince of Persia. However, I always failed on the first or second floor, because the levels felt impossible to complete (gap too long to jump, enemy constantly guarding a ledge, ...)
I like the concept, but the controls (sluggish movement, shot direction) make it somewhat hard to enjoy your game :/
Positive: Original concept and very nice graphics and sounds.
Negative: Non-intuitive controls (putting the control-guide in-game would have helped) and apparently no way to restart a level.
Wow, this is an awesome game! Graphics are beautiful and the mechanics are fun! Only drawback: How is the game related to the theme?
Spaghetti!
Tough one to judge: I really like the graphics and music, but due to the lack of feedback (even just graying out buttons would have helped) I don't really feel like I have an influence on whats happening.
Nice graphics and a fun idea. Too many peasants though ;)
Fun little game, but I think it could be more fun if either the presents would fall slower or the basket would move faster.
Very nice McPixel vibe you got there :) Only negative point: The mono-/dialogue basically tells you what to do, but the riddles are easy enough to figure out yourself. So you basically missed a great opportunity for more jokes!
Really nice game idea, and well executed. As others have said: the "shot detection" was a little unfair at times, but that didn't hurt the experience too much!
Very fun game :)
Very nice, but hard game.
Interesting idea, but doesn't really work because the controls are way too "inert".
Very cool game with an interesting mechanic. The audio is superb and graphics are appropriate. A+, will play again!
Sweeeeeet. That is like totally fab!
Work is good for me!
Audio is good, graphics are beautiful and surprisingly detailed and the use of the theme is pretty clever. However, a short tutorial would have been helpful.
Pretty decent for your first game in LÖVE. Some sort of score (bullets doged) would have been a nice addition. Sound could also add a lot to the game.
Graphics are really good and the audio is great too, although the background music can get a little annoying. Almost as it was taunting me for failing so often :)
The way of using the level over and over again is very creative and fits the theme well. I like how seeing the things to come terrifies and motivates you at the same time. The only gripe I have are the controls.
Solid and fun entry with a nice interpretation of the theme. The controls are ok, but could be snappier.
Graphics and the background music are very good and overall the game is very polished. However, a slower start would be nice. As it is I was forced to camp at the treasure box the whole time just trying to fend off the ghosts.
Wow, creepy game. Very well executed. The mechanic fits the theme nicely.
At first I had no idea what I was doing
Cannot run the entry:
X Error of failed request: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
Major opcode of failed request: 154 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (X_GLXVendorPrivate)
Serial number of failed request: 218
Current serial number in output stream: 220
Tried rebuilding (which works), but the error is still there :(
Overall very solid entry. I like the gameplay and the humor a lot, but the music is a bit annoying ;)
That last level...
I have spent way too much time on this. Well done!
Good mechanic, very polished, catchy music. Unfortunately, the controls are a bit too unforgiving for my taste. It is almost impossible to properly position yourself on a lane to fit through a tight passage. I think the game could work much better if the player would automatically lock onto the nearest lane. Otherwise a very solid entry.
The download link seems broken :(
The mechanic has potential, but the execution is lacking:
- The game starts too slow, but then picks up pace too fast
- The ball moves too slowly
- The spikes are very hard to make out from the background
- The spikes appear with no warning, often when you collect the coin immediately above
- The hitbox of the spike is too big
