Nice game.

Life game is very suit the theme :)

Ummm... cost me three intents to enter (and a wikipedia consult) but it's interesting. Appropiate music and decent graphics to this abstract submission.

Well done!

vulture-tamer 2014-12-08 11:09

Jack is so god :o

random-abductions 2014-12-08 12:08

Once you know the rules for game of life, the game is practically too easy. If you don't know the rules, the game is pretty random.

When I first read this LD theme, I thought about the Game of Life right away as well, but couldn't find a nice way to put it down.

You did a great job: it can be addictive and is very well put together!

Love the game of life! Fun little game with great music.

namide 2014-12-08 14:01

Very good idea and great music.
For the graphic design I think that the grid is too visible.

vrld 2014-12-08 19:53

Very cool game with an interesting mechanic. The audio is superb and graphics are appropriate. A+, will play again!

aomeas 2014-12-08 20:21

156! Phew!
Interesting concept, that's the first time I've seen a Game of Life used like that.
The music was made using abundant-music.com isn't it? I think I recognized what this software can produce.

@Vulture Tamer But not as good as me :P. (My best is 210, but then again I have played this around 70 times)

@Random Abductions I am aware of this, after you've got most of the board. But if you want really high scores, you need to keep the number of cells you have to a minimum in order to prevent blue taking over.

@LostTrainDude I'm not sure what made me think of the game of life. But, you know what they say about great minds...

@Namide Thanks for the feedback, the grid has been there from about 1 hour into the competition (when the grid was much smaller) and so I hadn't thought much about it :)

@vrld Your avatar isn't very stable, it won't last that long... Oh, now I'm thinking of everything in terms of the game of life... Seems that's what spending 2 days making a game about it does to you :P

@Aomeas Yes, the music is from there; took about 3 attempts before it came up with something I was vaguely happy with. I imported it to LMMS, changed the instruments (that is one thing it isn't very good at choosing) and took out the bits I didn't like :P. 156 is a very good score, well done :D.

Good work on this! I like the idea and the mechanics. Feels complete.

rottenmage 2014-12-11 14:15

Cool! I've always wanted to make a game with cellular automata, but never came up with an interesting concept. Glad to see this game! Good job!

blackbulletiv 2014-12-12 02:06

Love the concept! Eventually I got tired of manually placing things and just watched my colony evolve. It looked like it was primed for domination and then suddenly it began eating itself down and was promptly finished off by the straggling blue colonies. Fun to watch.

kualitygames 2014-12-12 21:06

Great music and fun to play, goodjob!

thopis 2014-12-13 03:05

Very cool idea and cool music!

ryusui 2014-12-16 09:08

Interesting idea, a competitive take on Conway's Game of Life. Very nicely put together.
