I don't get it. What's the goal? There seems to be no exit. And how can I predict where a wall is going to appear? Sorry if that sounds harsh, but right now your entry is not very playable.

Ack, is there no way to restart the game? I wanted to play with the mechanics but I kept having to literally exit the game and then open it again. As it is, I spend more time looking at the game over screen and credits than playing the game. The main character looks cool in a stretch-armstrong type way, but the level looks like a close up of a mid-nineties PC game cover. Too bad no music, either.
I don't really get the goal of the game or how this relates to the theme. And the fact that I can't restart the game without closing it doesn't help.
Um, what the hell's a ".love" file? Sorry, can't begin to figure out how to get that working.
Well, I figured out what the heck a Love file was, and was then able to run the game. It functioned pretty well until it crashed (froze) about 30 moves in. I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. Seems like maybe a promising start to something, but not much there as of yet.
For anyone confused about how to run this game:
- go to love2D.org
- download the version for your system
- drag Jail-By's *.love file onto the love.exe file from the download package
Props for having audio, and for participating.
The two biggest building blocks of a game are its goals and its obstacles. As far as I could see, there was no significant goal, and the only obstacle is random death.
But congrats on making something playable!
Followed cltatman's instructions and got it working, so have rated it now. Have to agree, it doesn't feel very finished and a restart option would be very useful, plus if you're going to use a relatively obscure framework like this some install instructions would be handy.
I never stayed alive long enough to get much of a feel for it I'm afraid, but you have a controllable character and a definite fail state, which is a start.
I destroyed 47 walls, but don't find any goal. It's a 2D world, but the walls seem to come from a third dimension which it's impossible to detect!
It´s a bit confusing all hehe
I'm confused, I think your game was published uncomplete.
But it does not matter, keep working and having fun on making video games.
