LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Agents of YIELD by nightlord 2015-04-21T03:03:00

This is a pretty cool game! I like how you've made the levels reading .txt files to piece together the map. All in all, I enjoyed this game a lot, but you can easily cheese most purple enemies by shooting them around the corner. They will only ever shoot at the core of the player, so it is easy to avoid their fire in this way.

If you were to continue work on this game, Upgrades would be nice, but I'd also like to see some randomisation in the enemy's firing direction. +- x degrees from the player's core, to make cheesing a little trickier.

Unconventional Typing by cravingsleep 2015-04-19T16:36:00

One thing you may want to try to do is check each tank sequentially from the bottom of the screen to the top, making the player place another input to attack other tanks. In it's present state, multiple tanks have letters removed if they use the same letter at the start. That being said, this is rather nostalgic. :D

Shop 'Til You Drop by hissssssssss 2015-04-20T05:08:00

I imagine throwing floppy disks at zombified people would be extremely productive. :D

Black Beam Blaster by Xgor 2015-04-20T11:42:00

Well now. This was cool. Used a couple of interesting mechanics and linked them together nicely. Good job. Grabbing the System time and month was a nice little touch for the security cameras, although I'm not quite sure how we set one up so close to the core of the Earth. :3

A Knight and A Line by Squeka 2015-04-21T05:19:00

This was a very interesting way to make a game! Having an interactive story in a PDF is very different! Good job!

Head Sword Ninja by junt74 2015-04-20T04:40:00

Oh jeez, this is both hilarious and fun to play! I only got 5 melons, but I can finally realise my subconscious dream of becoming a narwhal-ninja!

DUPE by nicotuason 2015-04-20T07:19:00

This is brilliant! Awesome job with this game! :D

Billy McMath Solves Problems by Manky 2015-04-20T07:12:00

Just a heads up, but the Windows download link is faulty. You have linked only the .exe. In order for Unity executables to run they need to be accompanied with their _Data folder, as well. zip both of those things and reupload, and it'll be fine.

Velo-City by TeamEagle 2015-04-21T15:32:00

Fun game! Also woot, High Score!

RRRR by kaype 2015-04-20T04:30:00

This is a pretty cool little game! I love the pixel art and the fact that you defuse these bombs in such a silly way :P

There was a small bug where bombs would despawn as soon as they spawned as you were moving downwards, but I got a score of 4100 on my first go and 4550 on my second. Good work!

Type Commander by Latency 2015-04-21T11:40:00

Awesome little game you've made there. It's nice to see I'm not the only one considering words as unconventional weapons! Our implementations are very different, but I think yours was much better than my own. Good job! :D

Tsurara Donna by Thingo Studios 2015-04-21T02:49:00

A fun little game. Reminded me of Ice Climber (As I'm sure it was intended to do) with different mechanics. Good job :D

Home Defence by ZQMony 2015-04-20T05:42:00

This is a cool game! You've got a nice theme, clever mechanics and solid gameplay.

I imagine the person in this game is weeping at the prospect of losing all the stuff he had :<

Playground Hero: Juice Box Adventure by Clairvoyant Games 2015-04-21T04:32:00

I'm not sure whether to feel inspired by the music or overwhelmed by the blue man in a box.

8/10 would slurp up green goo off a playground again.

Flail Rider by jushii 2015-04-21T10:22:00

I've been looking forward to playing this since you started showing little gifs and showcasing it's development! Great to be able to finally play it; it is a heckuva lot of fun! :D

Lalyvilley by From Smiling 2015-04-20T06:35:00

THIS IS AMAZING! Please, make more!

Bomb bringer by SMASH BASH 2015-04-20T06:10:00

This is a really fun game, although as Pachow says, if you hit a wall, you lose all control, removing the player from the game and pretty much ensuring you'll take more damage. If you were to work on this some more, I would recommend allowing the player to steer even though they're crashing. Reduce their speed, but don't completely remove player input from the game.

How to Train Your Human by sally_anne 2015-04-20T04:46:00

A choose your path adventure with social engineering as your weapon? This was a funny read, good job :D

Bit Bashing by rukai 2015-04-20T05:21:00

It is a little tricky to control, but I think you've done a pretty awesome job with this! One thing I would suggest if you were to work on this further would be to make robots wait momentarily before turning a corner. This would give players a little more time to flip the bit without the robot going the wrong direction.

NO TIME TO EXPLAIN: GET IN THE LLAMA by Nidar 2015-04-20T04:51:00

I can't contain this 240wat system. This is a weird and silly game (deliberately so). I don't know what I expected to experience, but I'm glad that I did. Hahahahah.

DictionBlade by Azure_Kyte 2015-04-20T05:14:00

@barret907k, In retrospect I should probably have allowed directional attacks with the arrow keys. You know what they say about hindsight, though!

DictionBlade by Azure_Kyte 2015-04-20T13:00:00

Yeah, that was something I was considering trying to stop through preventing the usage of words consecutively. It's definitely something I would discourage if I continue working on it, though.

DictionBlade by Azure_Kyte 2015-04-21T15:50:00

@agilejoshua, if you read this, can you let me know which browser you were using? I haven't been able to repro this with Firefox or Chrome.

DictionBlade by Azure_Kyte 2015-04-23T03:36:00

Thanks for the feedback Armanky!

Other players have also voiced concerns over the mouse combat system, and in hindsight, I 100% agree. I'll be changing the system to allow the player to attack using the arrow keys on the keyboard after the Dare is over. That will heavily reduce the arm exercises while still retaining the game's word mechanic.

ScarKrow by Carduus 2015-04-21T11:52:00

This. Is. Amazing. Fantastic work on the Graphics and mechanics' it felt very intuitive, albeit punishing if you make a mistake right at the end of a level. Great job!

LD33 — You are the Monster

Super Chop by savethejets1 2015-08-26T16:12:00

This is really fun. I really like the chopping mechanic, it reminds me very much of Mario Golf's swing strength mechanic.

Moral Monster by Aske 2015-08-24T08:25:00

This made me sad :<

Great work!

The Monster's Cave by SumGato 2015-08-24T12:32:00

I agree with cgriff, but once I figured out what was going on, I had a fair bit of fun with it; good job!

Hero Mate by Lancelot Gao 2015-08-26T07:46:00

This is awesome! I really hope you continue this game, I had a lot of fun with it!

Asshole Transit Bureaucrat 2015 by BadgerPriest 2015-09-11T13:35:00

Nice idea :D

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-25T12:40:00

This is really cool. I must agree with graebor, you've done some excellent work here :D

Monsters In The Woods by snakezito 2015-08-26T09:32:00

To be honest, I do tend to agree with those who feel the game didn't really use the theme to the best of its ability, however I do appreciate the time and effort it took to make the animation, the gameplay and the concept.

I played through the game a second time after becoming a monster, and was relieved to see that I wasn't as monstrous as I could be.

Good work :D

Carcass Moon by bldh 2015-08-24T08:46:00

The Windows version is busted. Make sure you zip up the Application.exe along with the Application_Data folder!

Elegy of the Night by Reisen 2015-08-24T13:21:00

That was some twist there. Nice job implementing that little trick with the name collection, I used to do that with a couple of my older projects. I liked the character art, it reminded me of patchwork for some weird reason.

Lardum by Grahhhhh 2015-08-26T11:43:00

This is the most amazing thing since sliced bread. Well. Maybe not *quite*, but it was still extremely well put together. Great job :D

That Fateful Night by Azure_Kyte 2015-08-24T13:02:00

@Anaglyph, I thought I had marked this game as inappropriate. Thanks for the heads up.

That Fateful Night by Azure_Kyte 2015-08-24T13:11:00

@mantis Yeah, I need to fix that. I'll be submitting a slightly fixed version soon that adjusts the volume on death, as well as fixing a bugged timer. The game is meant to exit on death and it doesn't do that at the moment, either.

Bloodflame by Crypto137 2015-08-24T12:43:00

This was fun. I liked the programmer art and the music was cool. I had a couple issues with fireballs having weird hitboxes when moving sideways, but other than that, fun wave-based defense game.

Room by shiroookami 2015-08-25T03:38:00

While very short, this was a cool little game, with a sad (but foreseeable) twist.

The only piece of feedback I would really offer is that, in future you find a way to remove the noise from the sound effects. You can do this rather easily and quickly within Audacity, for future reference. As others have said, the dark colours made things a bit hard to see at times (The doorknob was where I got caught up on for a while), but it still fit the mood well.

Good job with this! :D

Lights Out by Steven Miller 2015-08-24T10:01:00

This is awesome! Great execution and rather varied for a game made in 48 hours. Well done :D

Momster by BulvarMulyavina 2015-08-25T09:27:00

This is awesome! You've done a great job keeping with the theme and the mechanics are solid.
