It's hard to tell what's going on and the controls aren't very responsive (this could be because I played the web version), but I had a fun couple of minutes blasting stuff, and I really enjoyed the little robots saying "pew pew" and stuff.
There's a lot of slow-scrolling text, making it tedious to jump. It went to a black screen the first time my droid successfully found something so you might have a crash bug and I didn't get very far. Is there a difference between the three options at each planet, or do they all lead to the same move-the-droid game?
The starmap needs some kind of explanation: it took me a while to figure out how to jump to another system and it wasn't clear what to expect beyond the fuel cost of jumping.
I liked the music a lot though.
Moving around was very difficult. I managed to get the red axe, get close to the red catapult, and try to throw the axe, but I kept missing I guess.
The music is great though!
Pretty interesting game; I played a couple of levels. Could use a visible timer and some sound.
This was a lot of fun, and the mechanics were surprising and innovative!
It's a bit strange that the vacuum effect happens when moving backwards; this made fetching the fork awkward sometimes.
Ooh a strategy game. I'm not finished but I think I'm creaming it? I have money just rolling in and I'm expanding at maximum church size as fast as I can hire bishops. The balance probably needs some tweaking. Regardless, this is a lot of fun. The only serious downsides to me are that it doesn't really evoke the theme, and that there's no sound.
This was fun! I could see this scaling up to really big levels with lots of strange shapes.
This was interesting. It didn't perform well at all in my browser though.
The relative-movement controls were really difficult to use, but the concept is interesting.
Tried to play the web version but got an error message :\
Neat little game. Loved the graphics and music. I couldn't really find any actual evidence though, so I just accused somebody randomly and got it wrong. Maybe there's something I missed that triggers new dialogue options?
It's obviously unfinished, but this could be a fun game someday! I like the art and the fast-paced jumping around. I don't like that I need to click the mouse to shoot when there's no aiming or other mouse control - firing should just be a button on the keyboard. Of course the game also needs sound and tighter controls, but overall I'd say this isn't a bad showing for 72 hours.
I couldn't run the web version (in Firefox 26); the page just said "A plugin is needed to display this content"
I like this a lot. Excellent pixel art. Simple, effective gameplay. A weird creature standing around at the end. Everything was great; I'm just wishing for more.
I was disappointed that my friend-creature didn't do anything in the first half of the game, and that I didn't do anything in the second half. Also, why was undo disabled?
I loved the graphics though.
Wow this was really brutal. Excellent use of the theme. I managed to get to the end with only one family member dying, but only because I didn't try to stay in school at all.
This was a neat little stealth game, though I don't see what it has to do with the theme. I accidentally pressed space and skipped what I think was the ending so maybe I missed something.
I don't really understand this game; am I a mime? Why am I disguised as a cow? What is happening?
Huh, that's weird. What do you mean when you say the sound freaked out? I can't reproduce it (although if you were playing the music, I've known Beep Box to occasionally flip out for a second or two, so maybe it was that?). Also, did the performance inconsistency happen just while playing as the fire wizard, or with everybody?
Thanks for the review!
Oops, I should address specific people with my comments. Previous one was to Seigeengine.
Thanks for your review as well, Berzee! Glad you enjoyed the game!
Chaoseiro: yeah, fire is probably the hardest. You need to get lucky to some extent to keep the fires from getting out of control. Try reloading the game to get one of the other spells! Thanks for reviewing!
Thanks for the review, GrinCreative. I don't really understand what you mean that you are stuck with a monster behind you. Maybe a critter has blocked you into a narrow space? Press z to rewind moves if you need to.
Thanks Unept! Yeah, I'm starting to get annoyed by the critters too. I might move the snakes to a different layer in the post-comp version; not sure it makes sense to be able to walk over sheep the same way though.
Berzee: all the tomes are reachable with all the spells. The water power is hardest at the beginning. Maybe try exploring some other areas and come back for that first tome later.
Actually, the first tome is pretty hard with all the powers, now that I think about it. Maybe I should have placed them differently for a smoother learning curve.
udinjelek: you have to put the water you're carrying down somewhere before you can pick up more : )
NiceAlexanderAS: The music thing is explained in the game description above. Do you know what color hat you had the first time? Each spell should have a brief visible effect even if you're not near an object it can interact with, so I'm not sure what went wrong for you.
Thanks for the reviews, both of you!
Thanks so much for these reviews, Lipedal and travislucia! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game!
Thanks, archaeometrician!
jimmypaulin: Green dude? I'm not sure what you're talking about. Glad you enjoyed the game though! Thanks for the review!
Ooh lots of new reviews at once! Thanks everybody!
jimmypaulin: oh the tome? yeah you are just supposed to collect those (and not let them burn). I dunno why the little pedestals they sit on are bright green; I think I meant to change the color and forgot to get back to it.
Seigeengine: Hmm yeah maybe I should do some more testing with lots of fire and see if I can reproduce this.
esuke: yeah, they're just decoration. One of the things I would change in retrospect (and I still plan to do a post-jam version! at...some point!) is to allow the player to walk over them, at least the snakes.
Oops, pressed submit too soon. I also meant to say thank you euske for the review!
Thanks for the review, sekaru!
Oh wow! I consider that a great compliment (I'm a big fan of Michael Brough's games); thanks Striwx!
This was interesting. I'm still not totally sure if the rain and stuff was helpful or harmful (I think it made me decay faster?). I like the concept a lot though.
This was adorable! I enjoyed it a lot.
I beat the first level and then decided that was enough. This is really frustrating.
This was really bizarre and apparently ended before I could figure out what was going on at all.
This was a lot of fun! I'm not sure if there was a goal but I sure did enjoy clicking on all those plants. My only real complaint is that I don't see how it fits the theme.
Twine+Unity! Awesome combination, and used quite effectively.
This is amazing! Love the simrob easter egg. I'm not sure if I've done everything or not; I've found a couple of unlockable, uh, things (trying not to spoil), but they were almost identical except for a bit in the middle, and it didn't give me a clear direction to gofrom there.
This was fun but the controls were really frustrating. I expected to have to click in the direction of thrust, not the direction I want to go, and this kept tripping me up. It's also really hard to slow down in space!
Took a couple minutes to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing, and how to go back and forth between pages. I finished a couple of stories, but when I went back to page 1 to finish that story I got stuck in the castle (I must have clipped through the wall somehow? But the gate is too small for me to exit). Nice idea, but would have been better in 2D without the zooming-in bit.
I liked this but I wish movement were faster or things weren't spread out quite so far. Was there an ending after I collected the four orbs? Nothing new seemed to happen
Interesting idea, not too much there once I figured it out though. I wish the sound weren't so quiet.
Thanks for the reviews!
TideS: yeah I agree about the font, I wonder if I could hack puzzlescript to use a better one or something
Puppetmaster: would you mind saying something about what you didn't like about the gameplay?
Thanks owyoow and grillaface!
Yay more reviews! Thanks so much everybody I'm really glad you like my game : )
Draknek: Thanks so much! Really glad you liked it
Puppetmaster: OK, thanks for the feedback. I tried the "grab on" mechanic as a way to allow pulling blocks without forcing you to pull when you don't want to, and I think overall it works pretty well, but yeah having to move sideways to let go is sometimes counterintuitive. I'd love to hear suggestions if you have an idea for a better control scheme.
Thanks nonetheless!
Thank you for the reviews OinkIguana and wdebowicz!
Thanks for playing it, AdricZero and dancingmad!
This was cute and fun to play!
Interesting mechanics but I wish the movement was a little friendlier. The challenge is getting to all the vortex things efficiently, so I don't know why I wouldn't just always stay in the blue world until I reach a vortex. It would be interesting to have some level design that rewards using the other worlds more.
This was great! Loved the graphics and music and just generally smashing into stuff!
Neat! Thought it was going to be easy until the moving pillar things started coming, but then it was pretty challenging.
Pretty neat game! I wish the airports were easier to click on (you need to click on themreally precisely and I was playing on a touchpad so I kept missing), but I had fun.
This is a really good start at a game! I hit the "to be continued" so fast though. I hope you keep working on it and make it longer!
