This game is so bordering on crazy it becomes super fun! The music helps in this regard I think: It sets you up for high action and fun shenanigans! By killing ravenous animals, of course!

I really like the fact that you have a gun but have to be careful with what you shoot at. It becomes a lot harder but ends up being more rewarding when you do it right. Not that I ever managed to DarWINNING this thing, mind you! Those animals jump on your bones like it's nobody's business!

Here's my vote that you continue working on this. It's good as it is, but just improve the art a bit, the physics, and add a few levels with increasing difficulty, and you'll have a great game on your hands!

(And please make those animals less deadly. Yikes!)

I really liked it! The only downside I see was that it becomes too easy as it is. I only needed to move the first four slots in order to touch anything that came up. If you continue to add some other types of challenges (like the mentioned several suns at a time), it would be a great addition that could make the game a lot more strategic. The potential is definitely there though!

It also took me a while to figure out what to do with the "DNA" on the right side of the screen, so if you want to continue this that's the first thing I'd correct (maybe have some introductory text that goes away after a few seconds). It doesn't even need to be all that explanatory: just put a "Click here!" text with an arrow and by experimentation people should figure it out. :)

Really liked it. Fits the theme rather well. I finally managed to get to the ending after a few tries. The ending itself would have hit harder with a different music, but it still comes across really well.

There are very few minor problems with the game. I only figured out the fans could kill you after a few tries, as I was really lucky and avoided them until that point. There was a problem with the hole where you get the shots too: on my first try, since I didn't know I had to jump into it, I lured all humans there and was unable to fall without dying afterwards.

As for the rest, I really liked it overall. The art was great, as was the interpretation of the theme. Great job on it!

Thanks for the comments, everyone! Glad to know my first steps on pixel art are impressing you at least. :)

The problem of not having much to interact with is something I am well aware. It was not due to the art though (I was able to make it fairly quickly), but more due to some coding issues and the graphical glitches that arose from them, which I took too long to figure out and correct (and still ended up remaining nonetheless). I learned my lesson though: I'm prepared for pixel art on Unity next time. My ignorance on the subject and my lack of preparation backfired in that regard, but it was a great motivation to learn!

Boxy the Boxcat in Evolution Escapades by matthias_zarzecki 2012-09-11T22:21:00

Those little kittens tug at your heart strings! But they're fine by the end, so all is good!

Loved the game. The idea is fairly simple, but the execution really shines. It's weird and funny at the same time. I really enjoyed blasting stuff with my laser eyes!

Took me a while to figure out I should move towards the radiation spilling barrels though, but given the nature of the game I shouldn't be surprised. Doesn't ruin the overall experience.
