There a simple combination to win, and once you learn how to play it is way to easy to win.

raohmaru 2012-08-27 10:41

@bryonglass Thanks for playing and commenting!
I know is a bit easy to beat the computer, I had no time to program a decent AI... ¬¬U

pythong 2012-08-27 19:53

i like it! but if you play carefully and block the enemy all the time instead of going for the win, you get into a stalemate (filling each field) and then nothing happens anymore. maybe something like 'GAME DRAW' would have been nce

my-milked-eek 2012-08-27 19:55

It's simple fun. But the AI is indeed a bit too easy.

aquasheep 2012-08-27 19:55

Pretty cool. It was a fun game, and bonus points for making a board game! My recommendation would be to add a win condition if there are no moves remaining. Currently, the AI just pauses when it can't make a move, and you're forced to restart.

kirill 2012-08-27 19:59

True, once I've read the Help and knew what to do, I won pretty quickly.
But with an AI it could be a very interesting game indeed! And I'd love some music and sfx to set a friendlier mood.

echa 2012-08-27 20:08

Very nice game.

I think you should show some finish message message in this case: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/ed.jpg

commanderstitch 2012-08-27 20:30

Nice i thought it was a very solid play. only improvement, i don't liking having to "click" the piece again to be able to click on another space. Once you figure out how to win, that's it. :D still, cool!

raohmaru 2012-08-27 20:31

Thanks for all your replies!

I had planned a second victory condition as mentioned @aquasheep, based on the Evolution Points of each player -the player with topmost score wins. But, again, I ran out of time.

sampyxis 2012-08-28 19:55

Nice simple game - liked the game play

zx81 2012-08-29 15:32

I really like strategy games, the idea of the game is pretty cool. However from what I've played the game is not balanced, the player that starts the game is the one who will win in most of the cases (always?) Also, I do not how this game links to the Evolution topic.

raptor85 2012-09-01 11:03

once you know all you have to do is get a chip to level 5 it's pretty easy, just pick a corner and you're there in a few turns.

desiquintans 2012-09-01 11:07

Interesting concept that would do well if developed further. Some irregularly-shaped boards would be kind of interesting.

agersant 2012-09-01 14:59

Interesting concept. I think it could be really great if it was slightly harder, and some sound would help too =)

taslemguy 2012-09-01 15:15

It's fun and pretty. The simplicity of the game is nice, but it's more than a bit limiting in its replayability.

kmad 2012-09-01 15:23

I enjoyed this a lot. As others have commented it is a bit easy once you get the strategy figured out but I had exactly the same trouble with my own entry, so I can understand completely. Great to see another turn-based game, it looks slick and plays well. Great job.

deepnight 2012-09-02 19:52

The concept works great! Not easy to understand at first, but it quickly gets interesting. Nice game :)

wan 2012-09-04 16:27

Cool, a board game! I was wondering if anyone made such games for LD.

The graphics and animations are good-looking and very polished, congrats. Regarding the gameplay itself, while the rules are interesting, the computer is indeed not challenging enough to even begin to grasp the strategic potential of the game. Too bad.

Now after playing a bit against myself, I guess that adding the alternate victory condition you mentioned could make the game really interesting.

Overall, I'd say it's an original and pleasant entry :)

smirnov48 2012-09-04 22:26

Nice game.

marudziik 2012-09-05 12:44

Very interesting and simple gameplay. AI could play more aggressively, but then I believe writing a better AI during LD compo might be too much. I'm pretty convinced that at a finite board, there will always be a draw. Either way, this is a great entry! Congrats on a job well done!

qaterknan 2012-09-07 14:31

Nice concept, but firstly it got easy after a while and secondary, the theme does not fit much. But I like it :)

sestren 2012-09-12 12:36

As pythong already mentioned, if the game board is full, and the computer has no legal moves, the game freezes. I feel like either the game should end, as pythong suggested, as either a draw or a win for whichever player had the most evolution points, or the player with no legal moves should be forced to skip that turn.

Overall, good game, and I really liked the implementation of a unique board game!

pierrec 2012-09-12 21:52

I just watched the War Games movie, so it was kinda fun to play this after that. I felt I could stop a nuclear warfare.
Anyway, the rules are easy to get, the game is fun to play, but I would like to try it with a friend because th AI isn't smart enough (played thrice, won thrice) It might be a very good strategy game...we'll see!

raohmaru 2012-09-16 15:51

Thank you very much for your feedback!
I will take your comments into account for a post compo version, with enhanced rules and better AI.

misfit 2012-09-16 17:01

Nice! This is one of my favorites. Very polished gameplay and animation. Great job!

puzzlem00n 2012-09-17 22:54

Very, very polished. Amazing. Love it.
