The Darkness Evolve!! by juaxix 2012-09-01T05:52:00
Pretty interesting graphics. I didn't really see how it was relevant to evolution, though.

I'm experiencing visual lag spikes every 10 seconds or so. During this time frame seems to be when the character disappears or will sometimes allow the character to jump significantly higher.
Interesting sound bits. I think the game is a bit too minimal... this passes for a game, despite what your description might say. There are clear win and fail conditions in place.
Fantastic work.
That was interesting. I think you should be able to edit the DNA further as much as you want on death, the user won't know the results anyways until it's confirmed. If not that, a take back or undo for each edit would be good.
Both the Windows and Web version for me kept acting like I was holding down and left the entire time unless I was overriding it with a different direction. I didn't see how it related to evolution much. Good job on how much work was done here regardless.
I downloaded the XNA redist file, but it also requires before that is installed to have "at least Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile".
It would be nice to have full health by the time you either finish a level or enter a new one. The mouse sensitivity is too low for me as well. I liked the variety of music!
Got to Level 5 and it was a tad too hard. It's a fun simple game. I like that it's not actively regulated on how many shots you have available at a time, but if you just let loose you'll have problems and be limited.
It became slower and slower and eventually just halted while the music still played. I want to check it out, but I couldn't even get past the tutorial. It's a big no-no to not compose your own music. I will rate it later if I can get it working.
If you need a single game to feel better about almost any other entry, here it is!
Nickolai51: I actually really loved the theme and went right at it. I always thought Tiktaalik was a great symbol for evolutionary progress and would make an attractive protagonist. I also always thought of myself as a horrible artist with a lack of understanding priorities. I think this game represents both of these things really well!
Quintans: I agree. In the second paragraph of my description, I addressed this, but it does not make up for the fact that I did not complete a game in actuality. I am terribly sorry for your lost time.
It's a real hog on my system... it was unplayable and the music was continuously skipping. It looks fun, so I made the window to be much smaller, but the music still sounds... very odd. Then I found out my controls don't work.
The vertical resolution is way too high. Mine is at 768 and I can't move the window up enough to see what the rest of it says sometimes. Otherwise it's good fun; it's a nice puzzle platformer.
Very interesting... great job.
Overall very impressive! Great a/v work.
Nice, complete, modest yet polished design... I do see the theme at work, at least as far as the two most important things, survival and mating. I feel no suggestion could be made. Great work!
good job guys !
So good ! <3
Controls are hard ! But the graph and the sound design are pretty good !
