LD28 — You Only Get One

Run 'n Gun by Ace 2013-12-18T12:04:00

I liekd the premise, but the projectiles all leave large trails making it very hard to dodge anything

Curtain Call by pinkmonkeyhead 2013-12-18T11:49:00

I enjoyed it, but the text could've been a bit faster paced. I spent a while waiting for it to come up each time, it would be nice if space skipped to the next line of dialogue. Also It was very unclear what to do in each case

laserbug by OddballDave 2013-12-18T15:57:00

Nice, would prefer it if you could keep trying each level until you hit the solution, but I guess that wouldn't fit the theme as well :P

You Only Get One Face by tripleVisionGames 2013-12-19T19:27:00

Nice Idea! I recognised the menu music from the Elder Sign Android game...

One Element by SimonRhys 2013-12-18T11:59:00

The enemies keep falling on me from the sky! I think they spawn behind me and follow me down

FowL Play by Sakuyan 2013-12-17T18:38:00

Very nice art, and the mechanics are cool (but would be easier with a mouse rather than my trackpad :P) Doesn't particularly fit the theme, but it seems that's cause you ran out of time (I assume sword/shield were there for that intention)

Asteroids:Omega by peacegiverman 2013-12-18T12:08:00

Neat take on the theme, but I'm not very good at it - I'm much better at shooting myself than all the asteroids

The Colosseum by CryoGenesis 2013-12-18T16:33:00

The upgrade mechanic kept me playing, but the zoom level and shaking of the screen were really disorientating and a bit unpleasant. Could just be me

You Only Get One Color by Gyncoca 2013-12-17T12:02:00

I really like the concept, although it does have the potential to get very frustrating. I gave up on red, as there was a jump I couldn't get exactly right, and kept having to redo the first half of the level

One Twisted Button by etabubu 2013-12-17T14:08:00

Awesome :) Sign posts come in a bit fast, they keep killing me. The music is great

Only One Life Each by Msquirrel 2013-12-16T23:12:00

Cool idea, but quite unforgiving. It would be nice to start from the next room once you get there, rather than having to beat the first one again.

I couldn't get past the second room, as the mage would only fire to the left, and so I couldn't hit the switch on the right

Only One Life Each by Msquirrel 2013-12-17T11:36:00

Ah, ok. In which case I would've put the switch character buttton somewhere nearer to the left hand - I found it very tricky to use wasd, right arrow key and the mouse all at once

Spee the Sperm by Nazariglez 2013-12-17T23:54:00

Controls were tricky, especially with a trackpad. The graphics were brilliant, and I liked the take on the theme

Flight 1413 by awesomeusername 2013-12-17T18:56:00

Interesting mechanic with the fuel collection - the fuel ended up being an obstacle more than a necessity, while featuring as both. Nice and addictive little game

Sugar Rush by ALP_Squid 2013-12-18T11:39:00

The wall jump mechanic is hard to get used to, as many other games have you jump and hold the direction away from the wall to wall jump. I also kept falling off platforms due to the character moving itself, but that adds to the difficulty of the game

0RBITALIS by AlanZucconi 2013-12-18T16:19:00

Nice one! I like how you get to see the first part of the orbit before you launch, stops it being ridiculously hard

The Last Bullet by Toureiro 2013-12-17T18:05:00

Amazing Graphics! And nice use of the theme, although I found myself getting furthest without even using the one bullet

Single-Shot Space Hero: Adventures Through Time and Space; Encounters With The Green Worms of the Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt Planetoid Quaoar by mutilator 2013-12-17T12:41:00

I found it tricky to dodge enemy bullets, especially as they moved up the screen at a different rate to the turrets firing them. I liked the idea and the graphics, and with some tighter controls (and maybe a little more health) it would be great :)

One Shoot by frickajr 2013-12-17T18:50:00

Pretty cool puzzle game, could see it being a great phone/tablet game with improved graphics. A bit hard at times, but fast paced enough not to get stale

Earth Prime by Satyre 2013-12-17T17:58:00

I beat the game, but only worked out how the mechanics work by reading the comments.

Gravidude by gnerkus 2013-12-18T00:09:00

It would have been more fun if there had been some kind of scoring system, so you have something to play for.

One Dollar by TrefSoftware 2013-12-18T11:34:00

There didn't seem to be an endgame

Protoport by Und[0]ne Devs 2013-12-17T12:35:00

The music is great! (Not that the rest of the game isn't, but the music stood out). The mechanic is also very cool, but I found it hard to get used to - I kept teleporting just into an obstacle

Graham Vs Lord Nebulon by Articulated 2013-12-16T22:59:00

I like the theme/graphics, but have trouble getting very far through the levels as I suck at that style of controls :P

One Bullet Sniper by KeyMaster 2013-12-17T14:12:00

Nice idea, would be cool to have more levels. Reminds me of the training levels in Worms Armageddon

Ultra Volleyball Impact by Poupi 2013-12-17T14:15:00

Awesome graphics!A bit hard even on normal mode, but not too much so that it ruins the game

One Life One Try by Bnjguy 2013-12-17T12:14:00

The difficulty seemed about the right level, but after about level 3 it would start telling me I'd beaten the level after only killing a subset of the enemies, rather than all of them.

Only one bullet/rectangle thing. by ob6160 2013-12-17T17:51:00

Would be nice not to have to start from the very beginning every time you fail

One Shot by Jabenjy 2013-12-17T12:20:00

The graphics are cool, but there doesn't seem to be much of a game to it. Perhaps a series of increasingly quicker levels/opponents?

Onions Only Chance by joserodolfofreitas 2013-12-17T12:09:00

Surprisingly addictive for such a simple mechanic.

Dodge'n'Run by BillyTheCodingKid 2013-12-18T16:13:00

Given that you can walk in a rectangle and not get stabbed if you're careful, this is more a test of patience than a game :P Also, there are no collisions with the edge of the screen, so you could theoretically hold any direction indefinitely and not lose

Bee Honey by shanageek 2013-12-18T16:07:00

Didn't seem to be much to it apart from run and jump, though it may have gone wrong for me - kept running and my score wouldn't increase, there were no obstacles and the bee didn't catch up

Gold-Digger by maxhaesslein 2013-12-18T16:02:00

Nice little game. I got 13 with the shovel and 14 with the metal detector

A Stone's Throw by scoobyben 2013-12-17T11:38:00

@Alismuffin - I don't think I did a brilliant job of explaining how the levels work - you start in the middle , with a key on one side and an exit on the other - you need to pick up the key, then get to the exit. Sorry about the confusion!

A Stone's Throw by scoobyben 2013-12-17T18:41:00

@d_0o_d - I'm not sure what to recommend, pygame should be setting the frame rate at a constant 30fps, and it's been fine on all the machines I've tested it on

@sam1373 - fair enough, may I ask what I should've done differently to help me improve in the future?

A Stone's Throw by scoobyben 2013-12-17T18:43:00

@Doctor Brocolli - I agree, that's a feature I would've added but ended up running out of time.

A Stone's Throw by scoobyben 2013-12-18T16:35:00

@Diptoman There was no sound (The "sound" of enemies and the stone is represented graphically). It's another thing I didn't have time to put in

Happiness by Fenmar 2013-12-18T16:25:00

Wow, the atmosphere was amazing - first game to properly suck me in. I loved the light up effect on the floor, and the voiceover

Otzi's Last Journey by Rex Peppers 2013-12-19T16:12:00

A bit hard - I also keep getting hit by the first arrow as soon as the game starts

The Curse of Mellon by kyyrma 2013-12-17T11:18:00

I really like the music/graphics/general atmosphere! The Jumping mechanic did feel a bit funny, especially as you fall at the same rate as you jump

Out by SuperPokeunicorn 2013-12-17T18:11:00

Mood was great. I'm glad there was instarespawn, as a lot of harder games suffer from spending more time loading than playing if you die quickly :P
