Amazing game, very simple but yet so fun! A lovely Zelda ripoff. It's unfortunate that the game doesn't have any kind of goal but to collect more and more peanuts...

Love this!

The music is great, the minimalist style is perfect, great procedurally generated world.

Awesome entry!

Like the concept behind your site too :P

Good sound + music. The minimalist/placeholder graphics work ok because they're animated well, but I think some indication of which direction your character is facing would be helpful.

I've discovered a pretty sweet dungeon at (-36, 1, 0). Watch out for the bats at those first stairs, though. And please feel free to post your own discoveries in the comments!

Really solid experience, with a surprising amount to it. Does perhaps suffer a bit from its ambition, and it's a shame there's not a great deal to differentiate it.

Haha, I love this!
Too bad a few things are not implemented, but feck it, quite good for 48 hours. I'd love to see this enhanced.

Easily the best musics in the whole compo!

praetor57 2010-12-20 23:47

Nice music, and the art style works pretty well for a bunch of squares. I would've liked something to use all of those peanuts for, but very good work for 48hrs.

grimfang4 2010-12-21 01:45

Very good! I like the animation for the bats.

I just played the Jam version and it's very fun! I enjoyed the dungeons (I found one pretty close to the start at -3, 4, 0.

Sound effects are great and the dungeon music is awesome.

I wish the map would indicate where the staircases are. I had a habit of getting lost in the dungeons =(. I could keep track of it myself but it would be more enjoyable if I new where my exits were.

Great work, Nathan!

I quite liked this, cant wait to see it grow! (I hope it does)

When you said "zelda ripoff" I wasnt expecting it to be something I enjoy (the zelda games never captivated me), but this I can do. With a story it would also be better :P

nmccoy 2010-12-22 21:06

Added a link to the "Post-Jam" version, which will include all updates as I add them (including that stairs fix!)

Very solid game all around, and great music! Congratulations, this is one of the best games I've seen in the compo so far :-)

I think you managed to capture the essence of the zelda style gameplay very much!
Something just compelled me to keep exploring the next gray piece of rectangle...
The music is pretty awesome too.

Impressive. I gave up around 700 peanuts, as I figured I'd long ago seen everything the game had to offer. I hate to think how long I'd have spent playing if there was some higher purpose - some longer term goal - or some point to the collectables you were acquiring.

gornova 2011-01-07 17:23

Very good and minimalistic, gameplay is good but.. without a goal seems to be a bit unfinished?

thatsnail 2011-01-09 17:07

Nominations for best music anyone?

Played until I got 233 peanuts; found a dungeon and killed them bats and stuff. Great game, the minimalism was a big plus.
