LD22 — Alone

A form of monotheism by Andrew 2011-12-19T23:22:00

This is one of the few games that I've actually got addicted to! Took a while to understand (and it was a tough decision to pick cats over llamas) but it's actually quite fun (although it is getting a tad tedious).

Solitude - xandrew by xandrew 2011-12-21T12:09:00

My mind completely blanked out after the initial idea so I thought I'd throw that in there ;)

If you are getting something like "Can't Find OpenGL or something with dll's" then you could try moving them to the System32 folder... Else you could just watch this video if you can't be bothered :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbo_bo3w-YE

I was going to get to that - maybe next time ;)

LD25 — You are the Villain

Legacy Of Llama by @daniel_sundberg 2012-12-19T07:47:00

Nice fun little app! It crashes when the game ends (Nexus S) but otherwise all good!

Hero Beat ME! by theGiallo 2012-12-19T07:55:00

Works perfectly for me (Ubuntu 12.04.1). Interesting (and slightly funny) game...

If you put up the source code then perhaps someone might be able to port it for you?

Villain by Mathias Olsson 2013-01-07T02:14:00

You are brilliant. This is brilliant. And horrible. But brilliant. Everything is brilliant. Well done!

A True Story: The Villain by auhsoj_ 2012-12-19T08:21:00

Well that's one take on "You are the villain" ;)
The gameplay was smooth, graphics were nicely done. The only downside was the level progression did get a bit repetitive...

Mad Goat by Ret44 2012-12-26T22:12:00

That was fantastic! Sure it's a little unfinished, but that's still a pretty entertaining game!

You are the Hero by dragonfi 2013-01-07T02:23:00

Interesting game, not too sure what to do apart from walk around and not be hit by those "things". The "this is how it ends" text was pretty neat though :)

Rise of Evil by oldtopman 2012-12-19T08:04:00

That was the greatest. It had some laugh-out-loud moments as well as a thrilling story! It's a pity about the crash. I'm sure there are some open source pun libraries floating around that you could use next time.

A Villain is YOU! by tSwitch 2012-12-19T09:47:00

That was very well done! It captivated me!

Call of Booty by xandrew 2012-12-18T22:58:00

@bitwise-constructs - Damn! They are meant to be sailors! (That's their sailor hats)

@Manest - Because you are an evil villain you enter the town and start pillaging/killing all the townfolk and sailors, who drop coins. Before your ship leaves (the time limit) you need to return to your ship - else all your work was for nothing!

@oldtopman - Technically when the time runs out the game is over ;) but yeah time constraints had us working on other things. You do however keep all your coins if you return to the ship!

Call of Booty by xandrew 2012-12-19T09:38:00

@Luis Anton the (original) idea was to gather your pirates comrades and plunder the town together to get the most coins. Then you all had to make it back to the ship and get the highest coin count (if you don't make it then you lose your coins).

It's online because it's a multiplayer game! So gather your friends or another browser window!

(Node.js was absolutely incredible while making this. socket.io allows streaming data to and from server and client and made developing this a breeze (ish...).

Call of Booty by xandrew 2012-12-19T21:16:00

@boxerbomb thanks! if no one is playing then get some friends to play with you! It seriously gets much more fun (that's why we had a blast making it!).

The entire application (client and server) was done in javascript - so node.js was the server. (I don't know if I could have done a multiplayer game in any other language as fast as I did with node).

Call of Booty by xandrew 2012-12-28T23:15:00

This: http://i.imgur.com/HpoGu.png was the original level design. Our artist just drew over the initial concept and left in most of the outlines - which I think makes it looks cooler even though things like spawners are clearly visible ;)

Call of Booty by xandrew 2012-12-28T23:19:00

@pl0xz0rz - yeah because of the multiplayer (which was my goal for this game jam) we did miss out on putting in more interesting things (and more levels) but there's always more time after the judging!

Tail Orbit by bugninja 2013-01-06T23:42:00

That was very cool! Although I found that having a longer tail was more easy ;)

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Dance Dance Shoot 'Em Up by xandrew 2018-04-25T00:45:06Z

Thanks for the feedback! We had a few conversations throughout the weekend about the "beat bar" and it's positioning. We definately agree that it distracts from the actual shooting gameplay but didn't have enough time to move it somewhere else or show it in a different way.

We created everything from scratch and unfortunately towards the end we starting putting a few too many things into the game for it to handle the rendering. There are waaaaaaaaay too many loops in there (for example) that we could have been smarter with. Perhaps next time we'll use a game engine ;)
