Well done! I finished it and I really enjoyed it.
Spooky. The bumpmaps work also quite well.
Whoa, majorly impressive work. Fits the theme perfectly. My only complaint is that while it should be dark, it would be nice if there was some kind of lighting. I'm having a hard time finding the rest of the batteries, and I'm not sure of where I've already been. Regardless, awesome work.
Really awesome. There is a *ton* of mood in this game, it reminded me a lot of playing Alan Wake (in a good way). Played it to the end, loved the generator "surprise" (at least, I thought it was surprising).
Very cool, kind of a Blair Witch feel to it (admittedly I couldn't find the 3rd battery, so I don't know how it ends)
Very cinematic, good use of camera and light.
As others have commented, a tiny bit more direction on where to get the batteries would have been greatly appreciated. And keeping in mind that I'm a lazy bastard on a tight schedule.
Something about the atmosphere didn't quite grab me, maybe it could have done with some ambient background music or something? Also, searching for batteries and to a lesser extent turning on the generators felt a little arbitrary and forced rather than being part of the game world since they actually didn't provide that much benefit (well, the batteries did, but why would they be scattered around like that?).
On the other hand, nice animation, good lighting - I especially liked seeing the glow of the generators a little way off and being drawn to them like a moth - and I think that the overall concept was pretty good too.
Overall a pretty nice game (especially considering the time limit).
Really impresive! Took me forever to find that small cave and the battery inside
Woah, normalmaps!
Very atmospheric, indeed. Could be transformed into a great survival horror game!
Came back here after finding two batteries to look for hints. If someone didn't mention the cave I likely would have given up.
I SPIED KITTIES
I love how this conveys a story without dialogue and leaves room for imagination. 5 stars for mood.
Brilliant atmosphere! That last item was tough to find! >.<
This is very impressive! The graphics are super intense and give the mood and theme character! The audio could have been a little more variation even though I liked how the one sound faded out as you walked. It fit the theme perfectly but I was't sure what I was doing and at one point I stopped because I wasnt sure what to do. Maybe thats the puzzle but I'm not sure. It really is a great game though! Good job
wow, this is one dark game. i love the atmosphere and i had a lot of fun just looking around. nicely done
Nice use of shadow and camera movement. It was very cool when the buildings lit up - I hadn't even noticed them until then. Searching for the battery in the cave was annoying. Would have like more of an ending.
Spoilers below
Wow, this was fantastic. It felt original and was fun to play. This did a great job of creating legitimately spooky moments, like the first time I saw a blinking red light in the distance. I don't usually find "scares" in games, even when the game is designed for that, but I found myself actually afraid of things like straying off the path or the way that my shadow looked like something huge and looming following me.
A lot of moments in this looked really picturesque, I kept taking screenshots while I played. A lot of Unity 3D games look kind of same-y to me but this game avoided that. The electric noises as ambient "music" were great.
There were only a couple of problems I had. The camera did odd things when I tried to climb the "towers", like going behind/through walls and forcing me to readjust, which was distracting. (On the way back down the camera worked great oddly.) The only real problem I had was it felt unnecessary to do the battery thing three times. The first battery I found, on top of a tower, actually felt like a discovery and something I'd thought about and worked for. The second two, I basically had to comb the space to find it, which both wasn't fun and also made me feel like I was "playing a game". (I actually found the second two batteries by left-hand-rule-ing the wall, which I think if a game ever leads me to do that something went wrong.) By the time I found the other two batteries the sense of tension and threat in the environment the game had carefully built up was gone and I was fearlessly doing things like walking off cliffs (in the process finding the engine lets you do lots of odd things when you try to do that, like walk on stone walls). I think maybe the game would actually be better if the only battery were on top of the tower. (I also wondered why I couldn't try to scavenge a battery from my original, wrecked car.)
Poo :P
i found an easter egg, it says "poo :p" on the doors
I only found 2 batteries, but I somehow went through a wall or something and ended up in a totally black area and couldn't find my way back.
Still very enjoyable game.
Interesting idea, you really followed the theme. Moving around in the dark is a bit frustrating especially when combined with the off-center camera orbit center. The camera could use some occlusion testing.
Graphics the world is big and the guy and props are well modeled and the animation is great. Too bad that there are so few textures and they could be more refined too.
The gameplay is simple exploration but the world is interesting enough so it's entertaining for a few minutes at least. The sounds are a bit difficult on the ears though.
Overall, a nice 48h entry! Yay!
So far my favorite entry, looking forward to the next :)
Love the pitch blackness, not many games are that brutal with use of light. Lighting things up gave a palpable sense of relief! Camera a bit dodgy inside the towers, and the look up/down should be capped just short of gimbal lock, but great job nonetheless! And I found the kitten :)
I didn't think I'd be able to cope with this sort of game, but you offer just enough clues to keep me playing, and I was able to get through it. It was just the perfect length too.
SPOOKY! Man this is too spooky...
I managed to finish the game and I think that now I wil have some problem with the night... :)
The 3d shadows are amazing. Amazing work.
At the end I was ready to see something like a "BOOOOO"!
Very good game! It feels like a ton of work for such a short time. Sometimes it was too dark, but can't really complain
That was really hard on my eyes. Good work for 48 hours, but I just couldn't finish it.
Was a total grindfest of walking to find the batteries. Great mood up to that point, though.
Very good game. I really liked it. ;:D
A very good entry, reminded me of Alan Wake...and Alan Wake was a damn good game.
Really nice and smooth animations ;)
Whoa this is really well made. Good work as usual!
good athmosphere, but the footstep sound on the road is weird... I like the fixed camera point on actions.
Hello Alan Wake. :)
The game played fine, and just like Alan Wake, the lamp posts were a good use of waypoints, but the game was too dark on my screen, so I kept getting lost and bumping into walls. I wasn't able to find the two other batteries.
A shame really, I was enjoying the game.
