It works fine on Linux. Nicely done, although it could use keyboard shortcuts for movement.

Insane is perfectly winnable (done 3 times now) but seems to be much more based on luck. I think you should get more information (of some sort) on higher levels.

Very interesting game. Took me only 5 minutes to beat all levels though, so I think you should try find some better algorithm that randomizes the world to make it harder to find one path that takes less energy to walk.

Hey, this is a very good idea, congrats!
It's a bit lacking on the tactical side, as you can't see everything from the beginning and getting new food is too random ... but I played it several times, which tells something. (I also beat the "Insane" mode, which wasn't much harder than the other modes.)
The only thing I didn't like was the graphics, or better, the choice of colours. The music is cheap, but sets the atmosphere perfectly ... but the bright ground just doesn't fit. If you would fix that + more interactivity / tactical gameplay, it would become a nice little coffe break game. :-)

Also, don't use "any key" for continuing. Make buttons or make it spacebar-only. I used my volume keys and the game just skipped the intro, which is annoying.

It gets a bit hit and miss since you don't really know what's out there. But I guess that's part of the point, one needs courage and luck to get away from the ministry of project management.

It runs fine in Linux - first I tried running Escape.py, and I thought that I played the game then - but I feel it didn't behave the same way as jailed.py did.

Anyway; good job :)

@Kvisle: Escape.py is an old version from saturday of LD (if I remember correctly). Thanks for pointing out. I will add some hint on this page.

Unsure of how to know where the rooms are? Sometimes I go right, and go to the end of the screen, sometimes I hit a dozen rooms.

Escaped on insane, it's really just luck based. I see potential for a dungeon-crawler type game.

Some of the explanations could have been improved like what causes the player to lose and gain hope. Everything else looked great. Nice work.

I enjoy playing this. Pretty basic but definitely likeable.

I like the idea behind this although it seemed to relay on luck instead of strategy. The music wasn't an excellent piece, but didn't annoy me at all and probably would miss it if wasn't there.
