LD21 — Escape

Spotlight Search Deluxe by papa_troll 2011-08-22T03:47:00

Interesting choice, using Scratch. Well done, Mini Troll!

LD22 — Alone

RGB by Benn 2012-01-06T03:10:00

Overall fun, like many have already said, but frustrating and possibly overly-complex. If you ever do a remake, try simpler paths.

Nobody Wants Kitty by philhassey 2011-12-24T21:07:00

There were too little checkpoints, I would have liked to see more, it got frustrating at times. Also, I don't get why you can't control jumping. It's annoying more than anything. But it's different in concept, I like that, and it's fun despite frustrations.

Rocket Man Stan by JoeCool17 2011-12-20T22:50:00

@pythong: I'm just too lazy to upload the source now, maybe in the coming week I'll upload it to GitHub. It's not a requirement for the Jam.

Rocket Man Stan by JoeCool17 2011-12-28T01:09:00

Yeah, I just didn't have the time I thought I would to get that in. Definitely an addition for when I make it into a full game.

A.L.O.N.E. by KunoNoOni 2011-12-19T03:20:00

Having it so big isn't good for a flash game. Next time, consider a resolution like 640x480. Also, the jumping mechanic needs work. Why does he need to be touching the ground in order to jump, or at least fall so slowly? The idea is good though, and it IS addicting somewhat... Maybe something to think about expanding upon after the competition?

Iron Santa (world battle) by Dmitri Z 2011-12-20T23:06:00

I would have liked to see more variation, challenge, maybe a little more of a point, moving enemies, heck, these themes present an interesting challenge. Maybe after the compo's over you could sit down and think about some interesting ways to embody and fight these enemies, I think that would be a good game right there, rather than getting behind a scanned drawing and pressing the space bar. Good luck, I hope you do well!

Centhra's Zombies by Racer260 2012-01-02T02:22:00

I couldn't run it. It says it's missing X3DAudio1_7.dll.

LD23 — Tiny World

3rd Planet by xillix 2012-04-28T16:03:00

It's a very cool concept, but it seems like the planets that you added around the earth actually hinders gameplay, as the aliens get stuck orbiting them.

Quest For Matter by ThePrevenge 2012-04-28T16:09:00

I like the idea very much, but I wish there was more of a goal, to make the yellow thing grow, or move faster, or something. Great job on the 3d though!
Also, I had some troubles extracting the .zip on my Vista machine, I had to use 7Zip to open it, something to do with OSX's oddball .zip thing.

Penguin by asfdfdfd 2012-05-10T19:01:00

I wasn't able to shoot the zeppelins, they just kept bombing me. :(

Dreamworld by JoeCool17 2012-04-24T19:41:00

Whoops... lol, that might be helpful...
I hope you guys don't mind, I fixed a show-stopping bug after the compo ended- the collision wasn't updating when the level changed.

Dreamworld by JoeCool17 2012-04-24T19:55:00

There we go, DL link added.

Dreamworld by JoeCool17 2012-04-29T16:32:00

jwolf: Thanks for reporting the error, I'll look into it.

tcstyle: Do you mean you're falling *though* the clouds? Or just falling?

R3ason: That's the plan. :D

Uncle Istvan by cobhc6 2012-04-28T16:14:00

Took forever to load, and the (new) one you posted doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe it might have been good to add some sort of preloader for that one?
I don't see much relevance at all, but the graphics are amazing. The score is buggy, though. Maybe next time use some more time playtesting before submitting?

Narrow by Drabiter 2012-05-10T19:07:00

I love the game's concept, very nicely done. :)

LD25 — You are the Villain

Mister Misbehave by arhpositive 2012-12-17T23:15:00

I love the game! It's fun and requires strategy. It's clear you put some thought into game balance. I'd love to see a post-compo version as well. :)

Bad Guys in the Power by pinkmonkeyhead 2012-12-17T23:27:00

Way too long of a loading screen- at least have some sort of animated sprite to let the user know it's doing something- I almost submitted a bug report!
I *love* the aesthetic- the parallax effect, the background, everything. Bravo, sir, bravo. I also like the music
I don't like the wall jumping, though. On just the second level with wall jumping I got stuck and couldn't get out, giving up at that point. Then again, I don't like wall jumping in general, but I think some good level design could help fix that.
Overall, I'd say this was a great game, not sure about application to the theme, but still among the better ones.

Conquest Of The Mayans by PTSnoop 2012-12-17T23:10:00

It seems more like a mad dash to fix the problems than a RtS I think you wanted it to be. Also, the gui telling me that something happened wouldn't go away after my pyramid was destroyed. Bug?
It could use a pyramid-making mechanic that involves the players more- like give them a preset cost to build another, requiring, let's say, 4 Logisitics pts.
It's too tall- I can't see all of the game on my screen

Overall, I love the concept! You should make a post-compo version!

How the Thuglife Stole Christmas by mylesmadness 2012-12-29T20:04:00

The levels were too long and tedious, there were lots of small holes I barely made it through after some time trying to get it in there. It might be prudent to allow the elf to move in multiple directions simultaneously. (ie up-right, down-left, etc.)

Angry Purple Monster by ramoncb 2012-12-23T02:42:00

I'd like to know how you got a binary out of BGE- what sort of black magic trickery did you use to get it to work? lol

Money Manager by Kimau 2013-01-01T18:09:00

ehh, not much fun and quite confusing. add moar action!

The Level by xandy 2012-12-19T02:30:00

Sometimes I thought the controls were a little confusing- might want to make it more obvious which spike is selected

Loan Shark by Skiddings 2012-12-23T02:38:00

I love it! What a cool idea! I'd love to see this expanded upon. :)

Lord Tabor the hippie murder by dillyo09 2012-12-29T20:07:00

Needs more Saxton Hale.

Bank robbing game by a_user 2012-12-29T20:07:00

Adf.ly doesn't work for me- can you provide a direct link?

A Reason for Vengeance by Joseph Miller 2012-12-17T23:44:00

I didn't think he was the villain in any part of this, but I loved the game anyway. Great storyline!

Ninox the Nightbringer by Dining Philosopher 2012-12-23T02:41:00

Protip: if you use py2exe, subject yourself to the horrors of 2.5 on some random windows box in order to get a serviceable windows binary. Maybe later I can get a binary for you, as I have one set up.

Mortal Fear by TDRGames 2012-12-19T02:27:00

*waaay* too much to control at once- it might be better if we could group their actions or something, or everything happened in turns, but it's just not fun scrolling a lot, especially if you don't have a side-scrolling mouse (like most people) That being said, I love the artwork and the concept- definitely different. I also liked the music

Murders at the Mansion by aneeslol 2012-12-17T23:36:00

I like it, but I think the action/pickup buttons are confusing and hard to get right, which makes killing hard. But it's great at setting the mood, I felt like a true killer going for that maid.

Evil Driver by rogerklotz 2012-12-19T02:36:00

I *love* the concept (lolboston), it's very creative and fun :). You should add bonus points for most cars simultaneously exploded, lol

Elevator Evil by 8bitDamage 2012-12-18T00:08:00

I like it, but sometimes it wouldn't move the people- or at least not like I thought it would. Maybe more variety and a "line" of people might serve to fix this?

Dungeon Mastermind by 7Soul 2012-12-19T03:24:00

This was absolutley incredible. Do you own and operate a time machine? I'm going to have to ask you to prove that you don't own one.
The music was incredible and the concept was great. The game's concept was a little confusing at first but it ends up being quite awesome in the end. It's very responsive and well-thought-out too. Definitely my favorite one I've rated so far. I'd love to see this made into a full game, and quite frankly, I'd pay for it.

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2012-12-18T00:09:00

All of you guys: I'm working on it but py2exe is notoriously difficult and I'm still figuring it out. I might have one by tonight though (no promises)

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2012-12-18T00:10:00

tompudding: it's not supposed to scroll, the game throws stuff at you

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2012-12-18T02:00:00

Crowbeak: Thanks for the suggestion! But sadly it's too late! I've already made a binary! I'll keep it in mind for next time, as py2exe is not my favorite tool in the world :P
That's a weird error you got- can you provide some specifics on your setup?

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2012-12-18T12:38:00

Sorry about the private GDoc guys- it's default setting is private. I should have checked that, lol. It's now public for you guys.
ripter: You need pygame 1.9.1 if you want to run it from source
Crowbeak: Hmm, that's strange. What version of pygame (1.9.1? for apple python or python python?)

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2012-12-23T02:46:00

Eniko: Yeah, but pygame doesn't support tilted hitboxes, sadly. I could implement them but I didn't have time in the 48hrs.\
DaGamesta: If it was a jam entry, that would be the case, as talking to people I found that they didn't like it- I need to learn how to playtest, don't I? lol
I've severely nerfed it in the post-compo version I'm making.

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2012-12-30T20:01:00

@AyCe: Python and Pygame is quite common and is simply a google away, which is why I didn't link to them. I *could* package pygame with the source, but not without some effort, and I doubt I could include the interpreter. tldr, I made a windows binary for a reason. Nonetheless, if you're interested, here you go:
Python 2.7: http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.7/
Pygame 1.9.1: http://pygame.org/download.shtml

Sir Cat by JoeCool17 2013-01-01T18:23:00

Superdisk: There's a sign that floats by, see...

I need to learn to explain my games, don't I?
After some time a sign with a downward arrow should appear from the right of the screen going left. When it's on-screen, drop the yarn.

Critter Criminal by JaJ 2012-12-18T00:00:00

I liked it- sorta slow and non-intuitive but the color scheme and the concept, not to mention the resolution, remind me of pokemon (like *that* was ever intended, lol)

Cavernous by aeonofdiscord 2012-12-17T23:48:00

...might want to at least include the source so others can compile it for their platforms... other than that, it looks great!

Erfos by Patacorow 2013-01-01T18:11:00

I love it! The graphics are great and it's reasonable balanced for 48 hrs (ie not very, but good job attaining even a little bit- that's hard with a game this complex!)

HitBit by LeReveur 2012-12-20T01:36:00

Very fun- I can't stop playing it! I also like the fact that it keeps on going- it might be best to simply remove the "level counter" alltogether, *or,* make it more obvious that it's going to speed up ("changing levels")

Mansion Massacre by Bullseye8841 2012-12-23T02:34:00

Very confusing and buggy- I'm not really sure what I did when I was doing something.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

10 seconds of Hell by Spotline 2013-08-26T11:46:00

I didn't like the crouching, felt weird and probably would've played well without it. Also the camera felt less like it was a FPV camera and more like it was orbiting around a point- not sure if this is intentional but it threw me off a lot.

10 second maze by connorwiniarczyk 2013-08-31T01:11:00

More levels, more items, and

Distress Signal by Kohijin 2013-08-29T22:16:00

I seriously did not like the audio, I muted it because it was too distracting. Otherwise, I love the concept and how it plays!

10 Second Tactics by Schwiggy 2013-08-27T11:38:00

I couldn't get past the first level on web as the red team moved their last guy off screen and wouldn't bring him back into play.

Dance Dance Revolution: Atart 2600 edition by JoeCool17 2013-08-27T12:19:00

@Endurion: It shouldn't be, I have it set to allow anyone to download...
