Fun little RPG / Strategy game. Combat isn't very deep and there's barely any story, but the game is done pretty well.

Fun little RPG. I love the amount of customization you can do, choosing individual parts worked well if not for the clunky interface.

Combat really isn't engaging, and even first-time fights felt grind-y.

Audio was minimalist but worked well. Graphics also suited the game, though they looked as though they were something right out of paint. Because of the level of character customization in the game, it doesn't surprise me you made them simple.

I like your interpretation of the theme!

Well done.

drpumpkinz 2015-08-24 15:30

I liked it. I did find myself spamming the strong attack, though. The customization was especially interesting since the parts didn't go on a strictly "this set of parts is better than the last."

malor 2015-08-24 15:37

Good idea, but it lacks dynamics

cultofmonkey 2015-08-24 18:16

Fighting wasn't very fun, but everything else was well done.

scambier 2015-08-24 18:22

A bit lacking in balancing and rythm, but overall it's a nice RPG with everything you need: fights and loot.

valicitor 2015-08-24 18:26

Good little RPG, swapping parts is a cool idea to replace armor

miwuc 2015-08-24 20:21

Simple concept, yet quite fun. I love the character design!

evandaley 2015-08-24 21:23

Had to watch a 40 second ad, and the game never loaded. :( Dang

aprotasenya 2015-08-25 07:39

This is a very good idea yet it needs elaboration and even more effort, I guess: aside from the story and graphics, the central combat/customizing mechanics could be greatly improved. What if I could change parts right in the battle? What if I started fighting other self-customizing enemies and we could both change our parts in battle? What if parts had more stats or I knew more about them (for I sense zombie hands could have a higher chance of missing, but it's not stated anywhere)? What if my body was divided into more parts? What if there were more specials, they were (at least thematically) tied to the parts I'm wearing, had names and different effects and all that? What if different parts gave lower/upper hand over some other parts and I had to customize myself in battle seing the enemy?

So if YOU liked the game, I suggest you work more on it and then show us all the very best version of it. Or just live it a LD-game, that's also fine.

P.S. Also: compound objects in Stencyl? That's sick! *thumbsup*

Nice idea. A bit tedious with the clicking, but I'm not a big turn-based RPG person. Great job for 48 hours though!

irock 2015-08-25 16:56

I don't really find this compelling outside of the skinner-box mechanics. It would be nice if there were something more here.

ethproductions 2015-08-25 21:28

I agree with all the above comments; it's a good idea, but needs more elaboration. I think the upgrade/customize buttons need to be more obvious, as I didn't see them until I ran out of potions. 3/5

steboots 2015-08-26 01:03

It wasn't bad but it felt a little lacking. Seemed like a basic idea that could have more added to it to make it real fun... Are all my specials always ineffective?

squarepug 2015-08-26 13:09

I like the idea of this game, and the main character is cool. I think it is a game that could be expanded upon to actually become pretty decent.

sinclairstrange 2015-08-27 05:56

Great stuff! Nice gameplay and it felt well made, just wish it had some music in the background to create a more spooky atmosphere. But overall I had fun playing what I did and it'll be something I'll go back too when I have more time!

Awesome stuff!

lmt 2015-08-27 15:01

That was quite fun. I could definitely keep someone playing for much longer than most of the entries here. I enjoy these types of games also.

richardjs 2015-08-28 02:02

Nice animation, although more animations for different attacks would have been nice. I thought the body part upgrade system was an interesting addition.

mach60kas 2015-08-31 23:32

I'm a little underwhelmed that my reward for getting revenge was... nothing. Neat concept though.

taro 2015-09-02 22:08

I like the ability to use the body parts of your defeated enemies to improve your character, and if there were split paths and an improved UI, I can see this being the main selling point of the turn-based RPG. I also have to say I'm impressed that an RPG was even created at all without using RPGMaker for the Compo rule-set.

That said, the turn-based battle system is too simple, and the game often felt too easy. A wider variety of special attacks, as well as a party system would go a long way.

Overall, a good start!

bombjack 2015-09-06 19:52

the game is original.quite fun. could be better if more dynamic.

abcdef65g 2015-09-09 00:13

This idea is dynamic, I love the creativity, the growth using pieces of fallen enemies. My last Ludum entry was also a turn-based roleplay, so I know just how hard it is to implement that set of mechanics for a Ludum. Great job.
