Nice assets, with a strange dichotomy between my furious clicking and the idyllic setting. Ran surprisingly well even as I spammed trees everywhere. Nice job with the LODs. Definitely needs a goal of some sort, besides the implied one of flattening all the buildings and replacing them with trees.
@teekeks Hahahah. This made my day! Thanks for playing :)
@handle Thank you for playing! It's really good to hear it runs well, not just on my own system ;)You're definitely right. I will be working on adding goals/ more gameplay elements to this after this jam, because I feel there is some potential there. Any suggestions maybe?
Very cozy look! Enjoyed just panning around and looking at the view. Some kind of goal would be nice, but I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions. You'll figure it out :) Good job!
Really like the graphics, its nice how the world blurs in the distance. Its a shame that there is no win condition. I'm not so sure about the controls, maybe use WASD to move the camera rather than left click, it also seems that you can't always click on buildings properly.
Can't play for too long -- I don't want to wear out my mouse button.. ;)
Really nice graphics, very responsive even with thousands of trees placed. Some sort of end-goal would be good, but it's still enjoyable throwing trees around on a map. I encountered at least one instance where trees wouldn't spawn where a building _had_ been after knocking it down.
Nice job :)
I love the controls, it feel great to navigate in a 3D space like this ! And the gameplay is simple but cool :)
Really nice visuals. Good use of motion blur and tilt shifty kinda effects. Love the building destroy animation. Movement controls were definitely a bit unwieldy.
I am a huge fan of the controls. It is so nice to pan around and view the map like that. Again like someone else mentioned the left click for the tools seemed to conflict and make it hard to click on the buildings, so maybe could be some other button, but whatever you do don't change the movement it is so nice.
Looks beautiful! I really like the sunset vibe in an island. At the start it was a bit confusing for me to realize that the mouse buttons both control the camera and also interact with the environment. Good work!
@elfippo Thanks for playing! Yes, you're right, I really wanted to create a good atmosphere and forgot a main goal :sweat_smile: Glad to hear you enjoyed the views though!
@wevel Thanks for the feedback and for playing! I actually used the WASD controls before but they seemed a bit sloppy. I definitely noted it down though, maybe I could just let the player choose between both. And yeah, there is a click limit, where from a certain distance you can't break buildings (but I didn't explaint that anywhere!). This was because I wanted people to navigate the island instead of staying somewhere up high. Thanks again.
@colossal-gnome Ah yeah, it's good to hear that it's somewhat optimized and that you enjoyed just planting flora and fauna! I really want it to have some sort of endgoal indeed :smile: Hehe, yeah, I know that seems like a bug, but that's the way my stupid makeshift system works: trees shouldn't spawn on buildings, but the building colliders always stay in place (because the building positions aren't random) and so even when the building is gone no trees can be placed. Thanks again!
@foolmoron Thank you for the feedback, I'll be working on the controls and a goal in the next couple of weeks. Glad you liked the graphics ^^
@ultimategrinder Awesome to hear man. There definitely seem to be divided opnions about the controls system. I think I might re-imagine a big part of them. We'll see what comes out!
@be3n2 Good to hear! I'm getting mixed signals about the controls, but I think I can keep these in as 'classic' and also give the player the choice of changing them to something different. And yeah, the left click thing is stupid, but a keyboard button felt weird too. I think I might make a system where you have to charge up to destroy or place something, so that it doesn't instantly happen or something. Thanks for the feedback!
@gus-the-shark Awesome! That's exactly the vibe I was going for, but I think you're totally right about the mouse button-action: it's weird right now. I'll figure that out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for playing and giving feedback!
Very pretty!
I had the additional awkwardness of playing on a laptop touchpad which wouldn't let me rotate. Scroll to zoom in and out seemed very sensitive but that might also be the touchpad.
The hit boxes on the building seems small, and possibly also had a distance component? Not sure. It was hard to knock them over. The need for precision was the thing that went most against the feeling of calm.
Looks great and I enjoyed it.
@monika Thanks a lot for playing and for giving feedback! I also tried it on my laptop's touchpad and man, is it hard :sweat_smile: You're right about the zoom: it has set increments to which it zooms, so it's not a 'percentage' system (which would actually be really cool idea now that I think about it). You're also right about the hitboxes of the buildings: They are currently exactly as big as the buildings, but there is a certain distance from where you can knock them down. I will probably change that and also make the building-hitbox bigger. That is, if I'm going with the building-knock down mechanic at all. I'm currently exploring other things I could do with this island that would be more relaxing. Thank you so much for the feedback once again!
Pleasant graphic component and atmosphere. Of course, I would like to add the right music. But I just can not decide, it should be calm in accordance with the environment, or dynamic, so as to keep pace at a high rate :)
@scurf Thanks for playing and the feedback! Yeah, I would probably add really calm ambient music because I am looking to build a relaxing game (although I think the current mechanics don't represent that very much yet). I'll keep working on it!
I like the minimalist setting, good job Virtual Turtle Studio.
The game made me feel a bit sad if i'm honest, reminds me of what we are losing when we build and the ongoing battle between nature and man.
Love it though its quite thought provoking and a surprise.
Nice game ! Loved the art style and post process :p Maybe you should add some elements of gameplay like disasters (with more tools to stop them) etc.
This is awesome! Congrats
OUTSTANDING graphics! It's so beautiful! Unique idea too :D Great job!
Graphics are awesome!I think we used same post processing asset,XD
@christoph Thnaks dude!
@toccs Ah yeah :( Environmental health is something that plays quite a prominent role in my life, so I guess that also influenced this game. Being sad doesn't help though, let's all just change the little things in our lifestyle that ultimately make a change! Thanks for playing and giving feedback!
@Maxime-catel That's a great idea! I'll look into it and see what I can come up with. Thanks dude!
@jeffchen Hell yeah we did! Haha, unity's standard post processing asset from the store. I still love it when it's not used to the extreme, you know? Thanks a bunch for playing and rating!
@gerardb Thank you!!
@urnext7634 Thanks a lot, super glad you like it :)
Cute idea, but it desperately needs the sounds of people sreeming and dying in pain when the buildings get destroyed 😈
I love graphics! the island is too cute! the concept is really nice too.
I think there is a little bit of a challenge missing;
I had a problem, I could not change the key to take the watering can.
But really a good job!
Very Beautiful Minimalistic and Calm Game. The only thing that i think would be neat is an arrow control. Good job!
Beautiful game, just a tip, the skybox is a little over exposed!
@annie-owl holy crap that's dark man :sweat_smile: Thanks for the input!
@leandre-renouard Yeah, it's a shame that I didn't have time to work out a challenge. I guess I scoped this project too big again, haha. Unfortunately, you're right. Right now you can't rebind keys yet, because I didn't implement that yet :( Thanks for playing and leaving feedback!!
@mr-matt I did the post-processing like an hour before the deadline so that's very possible :joy:
@virtual-turtle-studio ahaha, that makes sense!
This was a nice little experience, and a good concept - I can see where you were planning on going with this. I can't really think of much else this game would need aside from what you have listed at the top of this page. Nice entry!
@sarrixx Thanks for the kind words and for playing!
Really interesting experience. Nice aesthetic. Well done ++
@geckoo1337 Thanks for the kind words!
My playthrough:

Sorry the video was cut a bit. Beautiful models and scenery. Bet you spent all of your time on those lol.
You've probably already thought of this, but yeah, maybe later you can add like a god-like effect when we bring down the hammer? So rather than the buildings simply get knocked down to the ground, maybe there's a hurricane effect, earthquake effect, something like that.
And lol yeah, the sound of people screaming and dying would've been pretty sick (in a good way).
Really good concept and nice graphics.
@miaw Thanks for the video and the feedback! I appreciate it very much! That would be a really cool concept, if you'd have to control the weather, or 'play god', so to speak. If you would use a hurricane, you would also hurt the environment, but also destroy buildings, so many you would have to balance that very well. Awesome stuff. Thanks for the suggestions!
@supr Thank you sir!!
The game looks really nice. The gameplay is ok, but the fun is fairly short-lived. Maybe WASD to move the camera makes this more comfortable to play. From a technical perspective, this game is really good.
Nice Job.
@potti You're right! I hope to improve lots on this game in the following weeks ;) WASD movementw as actually implemented before I scrapped it to go with the dragging thing. I had some more comments about the movement system, so I'll take a look. It's easy to implement anyway. Thanks for the feedback and the kind words man!
While the setting is nice, there are few flaws in the game:
- Clicking on the factories doesn't realiably kill them (raycast doesn't detect hitting factory) - Game gets quite boring after short while (factories doesn't really swarm you that much, and trees are getting removed slowly) - Misses some events or unique powers to make longer play time
Apart from that, I did like the mood and settings. The idea is there, and that counts (for game jams anyways), where you can't implement everything perfectly (due to limited time)
Keep up the good work!
The game is pretty, and relaxing music and sfx would be nice, but the premise is a bit dull in my opinion. It's like "Mountain" except without the interesting objects that appear or events that happen. Make this a more dynamic little island, and make the removal of human structures a more interesting process, and you'll have something.
This was a relaxing audio/visual experience. I enjoyed zooming in 100% on a lake while growing trees, then across the lake I see a blocky shadow rise up, and know exactly what just happened behind me. It was a dramatic moment! I wished I could freely fly around with WASD- that way it'd reduce the amount of clicking. To reduce clicking even more, it'd be nice if holding down the mouse would just keep adding trees (which would be fine if movement was moved to the keyboard).
