Pretty simple and straightforward, spawn sheeps, drop them in holes, and walk across them to reach the goal. The problem is that crossing the holes is dependent on crossing on top of sheep that do not fit the hole and is smaller. Thus, crossing a hole is kind of janky as you hope the physics of the game allows you to cross and not cause a sheep to be kicked out of the hole or other stuff. Maybe if putting a sheep into the hole made a different entity that fit the hole better would've worked better. Also, there is no limit on how much sheep you can sacrifice. I think the game could've been more interesting if there was a limit, then it would make for a better puzzler. Instead its just jam sheeps into holes so you can hopefully cross if the physics allows. Game seemed to be pretty stable for me though.
There's a movement bug on HTML5, it locks one or more direction first and if I continue to try moving any direction, it pushes me out of the map into the void... I liked graphics, it's simple and clean but as @burnedkirby stated, sheeps do not fit the hole and this makes things complicated.
aoirufus: I think that bug is present in all HTML5 games. It is likely a result of accidentally clicking and dragging the game window so the game thinks the key you most recently pressed is still down. Therefore, you are forced out of the map. Good comments on the sheep fitting in the hole, we might edit them so they don't roll around and are just cubes to make it easier. Thanks!
Cool game ! The physic of the game is really funny, I had a good time dropping a lot of sheep and watching them fly all over the level ! Maybe if you can make the player move a little bit faster will make the game more dynamic. Shout out to the Graphics, it's really cool !
This was a super fun little game! I can't wait to see the Post-Mortem Edition (If you do one :P)
Thanks, @oakenman and @emcannon for the Feedback and yes work on an Updated one that fixes the issues and takes in the feedback is already in the works :)
@frog5tar That's awesome!
Nice game! I love the fact you wrote "Jump - There is None" in the instructions :D
I like the tiny flowers in the grass. The movement was a bit slow for me, but I loved that I could make a whole stack of sheep as tall as a tower!
Cool take on the theme. Definitely lots of smallish things that could make it more natural to play, but the core of it is solid. The main issue gameplay-wise for me was moving my mouse to where I wanted to drop a sheep. They always went where I expected, since you put down a shadow for them, but the distance limit wasn't clear and trying to place them too close would clip the sheep down through the floor. Another reviewer mentioned the size/shape of the sheep compared to the holes, I fell in a couple times when the hole was plugged. Being able to push sheep around a little was helpful since using the mouse I could only move one at a time. Adding another mechanism to move sheep as a group would be useful as a player as well: calling them to the shepard or pinging a location to send sheep to would feel more like the sheep are a herd and less like individuals. Regardless of ways that it could be easier to herd them it was still fun to spawn way too many of them and move them around into little piles. I was able to launch myself into the air at one point by standing close to a pile and moving a bottom sheep out from it.
@dwemthy Thanks those are some good ideas and will definitely take the advice. we were originally going to have the sheep follow you but had issues with the navmesh having issues with the "Picking up Sheep" Script as it wouldn't let you move the sheep off the navmesh. :) we are going to try getting it working but during the jam we cut the feature because of the time it was taking.
It was interesting to play, i wonder how it would be with more difficult puzzles to solve, loved the sheep :)
@kaipi Thanks for the feedback we are working on longer levels and for different uses for the sheep :) so in turn should make the levels more interesting and challenging
Cool game definitely and coool application of the theme! I feel like your game is too good not to have some cool music to go with it! Maybe somethign similar to minecraft, like a very nice and low-chilliy song to go with the soft visuals but in contrast of the "dark" theme of sacrificing! Such a cool idea tough hope you bug fix the gam if there are any (didn't notice any on HTML5 ) and make the controls a bit easier (especially carrying the sheeps) but that's just me , maybe but maybe not . But what Is certain is that you have created a truly awesome game, well done on your fantastic submission.
A nice looking game with good environment and character models. I found the game pretty difficult to play on the web version though due to the character continuing to move forward when clicking and dragging a sheep. Sometimes the sheep would also disappear when i click on it once. I'm sure the windows build works fine though so i recommend people play that version instead. Overall a really cool looking game!
I didn't encounter any of these bugs on the WebGL version. Maybe a browser issue for some people? (Firefox 63 here) Cool puzzle game, nice cubeworld style, love it!
Kinda weird but nice, got a little bit confused at the beginning ;) also missing jump much ;(
Thanks for the comments! We will try to add a more comprehensive Tutorial into a level that helps players understand the game better. Thanks!
Nice little game but I think you could have worked a bit more on getting a bit more puzzle feel to the levels. Now it was just a bit of running back and forth. Some music would have been nice and maybe a few more game mechanics.
@cg-fred we had a few ideas for puzzles, like using the sheep as a staircase and moving them in the way of traps to protect the shepherd but we ran out of time to code them (we did have some of the graphics made though). Thanks for the comment! We might add these more puzzling ideas after in later builds.
I liked the idea of "scarifying" the sheep, but I think that we would be more fun and make the game more "puzzly" if the number of sheep was fixed per level and not infinite because, in my opinion, as soon as you see the level layout, you already know how to solve it, there's no challenge. Other than that, I enjoyed the game. Nice work!
Pretty easy game. The movement was a bit slow too. If the movement was faster and their was a bit more to the puzzles I would have enjoyed it more. Not bad overall. Poor sheep had to be sacrificed :(
Great graphics and good use of the theme!
I didn't see any major bugs in the web version, however I did find that you can simply cross any of the holes by hugging the wall. decent base game otherwise.
Not bad. I know how difficult is to make games but it has a lot to improve. I've enjoyed so I'm going to put a decent score. Not going to say nothing else cause you already have a lot of feedback. Keep working.
Really neat idea! The atmosphere is cute and I love the sheep physics - especially spamming the sheep spawner ;) I can really see the potential of the game with the unDone list :) Making this in 15-24 hours... you've done great!
Interesting idea, but given you can reuse the sheep, they're not exactly being sacrificied
@captainpilot Thanks for the feedback we were looking at ways to make them stay in the hole when placed or similar Function and were also looking at adding a Par System (Like Golf) to add a purpose for using less sheep
Really nice and relaxing game ! I love the style and how simple, but efficient, it is. These are the cutest sacrifices I had to make for this Ludum Dare ! Putting the sheeps in the hole was a bit rough though, sometimes they seemed to not fill the exact height, making the hole difficult to pass. But, overall, good job =) !
The idea is close to our own game. I like it. 😋
offscreen.png A game breaking bug where you can fall off the level then nothing's going to happen. Great voxel graphics.
I highly disliked the perspective for the game with the dragging and dropping of the sheep, I found it quite difficult to know where my sheep was going to go once I dropped him. I almost would have preferred the shepherd picking up the sheep and carrying it to the current setup. On a more positive note however I really enjoyed the art style of the game, and it fit the theme quite well; great job.
**Lovely** graphics, and an interesting concept. However, as others have said, it's difficult to see where a sheep is going to get dropped due to the perspective and lack of shadows. I also felt like there was no real challenge to the gameplay. I tried 2 levels, and the only "challenge" as far as I can tell was to carry sheep and drop them down. I was missing some kind of puzzle or similar fleshing out the gameplay. As it stands, the gameplay is mostly tedious having to run back and forth picking up and dropping sheeps :)
