Can't do anything when game starts. Music plays. I see the character and a white text box but I can't move or use attacks

@TheLukker are you sure? I'm not getting any other reports of this bug. You need to put in names and click on the enter button before the option to start the game appears.
love the ability to name your character. Not the most mechanically complicated game, legends will speak of Smitty Werben Yager-Manjenson, who climbed to #1 (#2 technically) by only spamming slash. But very nice graphics, and cute audio, and fun despite its simplicity.
Could do with some balance. Fighter games need more complex moves that make strategy important. Maybe if you could pick an opponent to match your current strength? Or add special moves that can't be blocked (or that have to be blocked because they cause massive damage).
@Didactylos Thank you for your suggestions. This was our first crack at a fighting game so we didn't really know what direction to take. We'll take your suggestiongs into consideration :)
@loadsofmana Thank you for your comment, the bugs have been fixed where you can win the game by slashing and you can now get to first place! (the game has become 100x more difficult)

An interesting concept, I like games like this one, felt a little too easy but I guess it's just about right for a jam game, can't expect tons of moves/combos designed, programmed AND balanced in just 72 hours. Fun, humorous, pleasant bgm, good job, guys.
*calp**clap**clap**, perfect for me. I am a big fan of tekken and mortal combat, soo that may be the fact that made me vote 5 stars
Hey !
Very good entry overall ! Graphics are neat, audio is pretty good (I like the voice acting :D) and it all feels quite responsive.
The big downside of this game, I believe, are the controls : maybe using the mouse would have been better ? I couldn't really say honestly. Also, it seems like stabbing is better than slashing, because of the extra range.
Otherwise, I liked it quite a lot. I wonder, the names you can see on the list... are all these names created by players ? Or is it all pre-made with yours then being added to the list ?
Cheers for the good work ! ;)
Feel free to check our game out : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/berzerk-hunt We could use some criticism !
Great game ! I had fun on it ! Good job !
Nice game ! I liked the mix between pixel art the "hand drawn" style. The main idea is very nice, and the story is funny. However, it's too easy: I managed to beat the game only by stabbing the enemy while walking backwards. Same problem for the power bar: I never lost because of it, even if I was spamming the stab attack. Anyway, good and fun game, nice work guys !
Great sprites. The power decreasing makes it VERY challenging... I couldn't get very far! haha. Oh well. I'm not very good at these sorts of games. The names were pretty amusing and all. Neat work.
Hey! Good idea! Didn't think at all about fighting games. You have music, like it, voice lines. I'm actually beat almost all my enemies using straightforward mechanic - just get as much closer as I can and spam J trying to kill opponent faster. Maybe it's coincidence but overall i like the game. :muscle:
The graphics, names, sound effects, and ending make this game really comical, and it's fun to see a game that doesn't take itself so seriously. After a few failed attempts at trying to play the game strategically, I learned that my opponents couldn't handle the old stab spam. It's incredibly easy to make a fighting game unbalanced, especially in 72h, but it might be worth studying how fighting games with dozens of characters manage to stay competitive. These games are often compared to Rock Paper Scissors, and if RPS can make do with three options, I think you can make a really interesting game with five, even without special moves or combos.
Anyways, the game looks and plays great. Making the opponent an AI rather than local multiplayer is a brave choice, and I think you pulled it off well. Keep up the good work!
Respect for you for making a fighting game! And for sound, and HTML5 version ;). First I couldn't run fight, refresh helps I think.
Gfx are ok, but for me game is hard - I couldn't beat even first rival.
@thefunattic The names are actually randomly generated from a long list that we put together, of first names, last names and nicknames :)
So, The game was very nicely made!, I am so glad that you made a fighting game
I don't like fighting games but this one was a slight different
The game's graphics where very good. As this game is made in 3 days, Its sick!
It would be nice if there were a way for me to restart without taking my hands off the keyboard.
I really liked the pixel art characters!
I like the idea, but I think a little polish would really help. The controls are a little bit awkward on a keyboard, and the power seems more like a fun-crushing timer instead of a challenge.
On a positive note, I LOVED your pixel graphics and the enemy AI. great work on that.
