Vikings, Mario, Cats and Pigs. You can't go wrong with that, great job!
I loved it! Great job on the level design. The visuals are super, it was heartbreaking to sacrifice piggy and the others, haha But really well made game
Thank you for your comments! We are VERY happy you like it! :D
this was really good keep it up!
Thank you!
Cool game, art is neat and gameplay simple but super efficient :) It a very good job you did here. Congratulations !
@dboot Thank you for your comment! :D I'll also check your game!
Awesome art!
Very funny game! I really like the pixelart graphs and the tribal sound track! Congratulations.
Sacrificing a pig that was lured by a cat in order to beat the level was really unexpected. Well done!! That was my favorite bit of the game.
Two words : Level design ! Awesome job ! Those hidden plateform that just pop above your head sometimes are fun x) Cool graphics too ! It may need a bit of explanation for why am I sacrifing those animals but heh... I know what it is to it in 72H :) (That's said... I think I'm gonna add more explanations in our game description ... :p )
@iker-diaz @jungle @publicidadeba @wegpast Wow!! Thanks! The best part is in the last level! There... you will have to choose one of two endings :D
Yeah ! Vikings ! Nice level design and graphics !
Beautiful game, nice soundtrack and nice level design.
@gebowunjo @lluismg It's nice you like our level design, music and art! We did our best! :D I'll check your games soon, too!
Really good game, the controls are intuitive (it's one of the few games of this jam where it didn't take me forever to figure out how to play). Graphics are great, the UI is well thought and designed. Good job!
Hey! Sharing some love from Elysia. Great game!
@lucidus awesome work, guys! Here from Elysia's stream.
Beautiful game, I love it! I especially liked the interactions and the level design. Good Job!
@lizouille @lazertrax @adam-pandos @rock-night Thank you for comments! We appreciate you like it!
@lizouille We're really happy that you appreciate controls - we really want to do everything as intuitive as possible. We're also pleased that you and like our design! It means a lot to us, it was really hard to create all these graphics in less than 72 hours (and using only mouse)! xD
@adam-pandos and @rock-night - happy you saw this gameplay! :D I hope now you know to not forget our hunting master - The Great Cat Percy xD Much love! <3
Thank you, @lazertrax! Aww... we are in heaven! :D
First of all, good job on finish your first Ludum Dare! The game is also pretty cool but some parts get pretty tough.
Yeah, you're right, @nufflee. It is our bad, we wanted to make interesting levels, but instead of that they are hard. It a little pitty because we prepared suprice in the end and two different endings. But it was our first game, we will do out best next time! Thank you for your time!!! :D
Great pixel art, awesome music. Best game so far.
Thank you, @alobker! *.*
Funny cat mechanism. Cool pixel art.
I like the not being able to double jump whilst carrying an animal.Changes up the mechanics and rewards you for killing the enemies.
Invisible platforms are a bit too invisible. But I guess you need to make them secret!
We're really glad you like change in mechanics, @eldogg! You know, our pig (and the rest animals), are well prepared for sacrifices and they are very heavy! :D
And you're right that invisible platforms are too tricky, we have to change this. Thank you for your time! We really appreciate it!
Nice work! I liked the double-jump, excellent artwork! Did I need to collect all the skulls? I picked up the cat, to tradefor the pig, but I think the first level ended before I got all the skulls. So much pig blood!
@mgoadric, thank you for playing! You don't have to collect all the skulls, it is just a feature (you know, rotating skulls looks so satisfying)! :D
Really loved your art and direction. Not really sure why a cat lures a pig out of a cave, but whatever! Thanks for the fun game!
VikingGIF.gif
You are a master, @jfraser314 - almost every skulls, congrats!! :D Cats are able to conquer the heart of everyone, it is because of that! :P Thank you for your playing! :)
Very nice plattformer! The art is very good and the soundtrack fits the theme very good (i like the fast bits which add suspense). The game plays very fluently and the controlls and animation system work well together and feel responsive. I especially like the main character and the animals. :) Although i totally missed the cat at first and watched your walkthrough to progress. Very well made game!
Another thing: Very clever putting game trailer + itch link in your profile description (i stole that 😅). I would link to the LD game page directly too!
Hey ! Super cool art, i love this game! Good Job, i tried to have all the skulls but i failed :(! That's dope!
Look at that graphics! It's so well made. Oh, yes, and when I see a viking in a game, I give upvote! ;)
The game was very well done! Animation transitions were laggy for me but besides that it's very polished. I love the pixel art, it's incredible!
@fzillo Your comment is a great help for us! Now we know we are going in the right direction! Thanks!
@antoine-vion @kornel-meszaros Thank you guys! Because of this jam, we are very motivated to keep such graphics in our further games :D Glad you like it!
Thank you @fzillo, @antoine-vion, @kornel-meszaros. We're happy you like it! @fzillo it's great to hear that the walkthrough helped you. @antoine-vion - you need to just keep trying ;) I'm myself very bad at platformers so progressing is rather hard for me, but I should play through my own game to the very end, right? ;)
Well rounded game and great entry, solid gameplay, fun levels to play, nice graphics, fun little cat mechanic... your game is top :)
Wow it is amazing what can be done in 72 hours
@xarras @sockyman We did our best to design 5 complete levels. Each of them is harder than another (too hard as we see now xD). We will also try to submit the walkthrough of them on youtube so you will be to play them or watch them ;P
Stellar level design! The length is also impressive given the time limit! I find the logic of using a cat to lure out the animals to be a beautiful thing. The platforming was very tight, but I did find myself a bit disconnected from it and a few more animations (e.g. jumping, falling, etc.) probably would probably have helped that. Overall very good!
@ecmjohnson Thank you for feedback! We used cat to make it funnier! :D We will be saving all your feedback to improve our game after jam. ;)
Your game was played on my stream ( twitch.tv/ursagames ) for the first day of Ludum Dare streams - you can find the timestamp of your game here: https://goo.gl/N2rkr8
Nice game! The graphics were great and left nothing to be desired. Your levels were designed pretty well too. The audio worked, but it became sorta repetitive as the game dragged on. One of my main criticisms of your core gameplay is that it wasn't always immediately obvious to me what event was happening (player death, clearing a level), or what an object's purpose is (didn't completely understand the cooking pot at first or see the spikes that killed me multiple times). These are definitely small issues, and didn't overall impact how I rated your game with any significance. Great job!
The art is super cool
@acr515 Thank you for your feedback! It's very important to us to gather it! We're gathering a lot of new information for us. You're right with the Game Over scene. We didn't find time for that eventually but now we know we need to make it much more intuitive in our further games. And we are happy u liked it! :P
@ursagames Thank you for playing it. We hope you liked it and we'll watch you play! :D
Great game, beautiful pixel art and music. Controls are good and mechanics are easy to understand. I only had issue with hidden spikes at the bottom of the stairs on the second level. I lost all lives not realising what happened and thought that was unfair. Maybe if restart wasn't so instant I'd be able to figure things out? Overall very nice game, you did great!
It's incredible what you did in 72h!! I am impressed,good job !
Fun game! the art and music is good and the mechanics feel pretty good, though the platforming feels a little slow, at times, especially with the short jump. Pretty well polished though, good job!
@vatigo Thank you for feedback. Actually, this is a bug we have, because the spikes collide with flower, we didn't see it either at the beginning. Sorry for that :/ We are happy you liked it anyway!
@bulb @giovannibarrottu Sleeping just a few hours during weekend gave us time to make the levels and extra features like triggers to moving platforms, checkpoints (cooking pots) and polished pixel-art graphics. :) Thanks for comment!
Overall pretty good. I like that a lot of time went to level design. I had the most fun when the game was moving quickly though, felt bad having to wait for elevators of falling down the entire level.
@yung-failure Thank you for your feedback! We'll include it in our future games! :D That's very cool when you share your thoughts with us!
Amazing game, took my time to collect all the skulls (135 in the last level? OMG) and took my part on the sacrifice feast. Art reminds me a lot to Kingdom games, music gets loopy after a while but it's ok. Nice job you did there
@xphere You're a boss! Wow! Big congratulations! We are amazed you passed all the levels! Thank you for feedback about the music! We are glad you like our game and art! :D
@xphere - you impressed me! Thank you for your time, you surely put enormous effort to finish this game! And you made me very happy! In the beginning I haven't expect this gameplay will be so long and then I saw people usually stop playing after 1st or 2nd level. It is quite obvious but as you know we prepared a little surprise in the end and it is a waste that many people won't see it. So thank you very, very much! I'm so happy that you wanted to play till the end! <3
Thanks to you @kirke @lucidus and all the team for making an enjoyable game. I'm not a platformer fan but I enjoyed a lot playing all the way to the end. I'm also an achiever, so I can't let those skulls all over the place. I hope more people reach the final altar!
Wow, love the pixel art and animation.
I like it! cool pixel art!
@xphere Thank you! We hope more people get to the end, too, but we haven't realized earlier that levels are so long. You can put your ending choice here: https://www.strawpoll.me/16978464 so we know what ending is more often chosen.
@keshav-sharma , @ratatosk777 , thanks!
Are you kidding me this in 3 days. This is the best game i've played in a while and i really like the music and the animation as well as the responsible controll. Overall a great platformer with a bit of a twist. The game resembles reed to much in my opinion but who cares great entry lads.
@shapkofil A few almost sleepless nights and we have it! (And we fell asleep in random places after submission). Thank you for you comment! :D We didn't know about this game, haha!
Amazing little game, I love the art. The game is really good, level design is top notch. It would have been nice for an explanation on what was happening in-game, but wasn't too bad just figuring it out.
I noticed pixel tearing/gaps between your art tiles:
Tear.PNG
I had this issue too, and found an easy way to fix it is to have a 1 pixel border around your tiles (i.e. 64x64 = 66x66) in whatever program you have and just extend your tile by 1 pixel. When cutting the sprites in Unity just go to whatever your sprite size is meant to be and it will behave properly. Example.PNG
Sorry if you knew this already and it's another issue, I was so annoyed with it until I figured it out when I was messing about with sprite sheets.
@furtive-pygmy - thank you very much for your advice!! We will do this in our next games for sure! You safe our time (because we also saw a problem, but we didn't know what is a reason and we thought that we used too small sprite sheets). So thanks! It is really amazing you wanted to share this with us! :D
Nice entry, smooth controls, pixel graphics definitely the strongest side of the game. On the other hand, even the first level felt pretty long, which isn't that good I'd say. Also I think that environment would be much better if it was more in the viking theme, this one, though very nicely done, felt just a bit generic. Music loop is bit too repetitive for my liking, but I totally get that the jam schedule is harsh. Still, cute kitten as a bait is genuinely genious! Overall the game was beautiful, with tight controls and it was fun to play it! Thanks for that!
haha loved the humorish take on the game! It's pretty long too witch is never a bad thing, Good but simple audio, funny take on the theme, good art.. solid entry, good job!
@kirke My pleasure, always happy to help if I can. I spent an unhealthy amount of time trying to figure it out; if I can spare anyone that amount of messing around I will.
@honey (what a beautiful nickname, oh honey xD) - thank you for your all advices! A graphic theme is more focus on tropic island where viking has to make sacrifices, but for sure more viking theme would be better! Unfortunately, there was just 72h and I wasn't able to make more (T.T). And you're right with music - I really regret that we coudn't make separate soundtrack for each lvl (of course because of time). And I'm happy that you like our cute kitten :D Thank you for your time for play and comment! :)
@tulipekoni - thank you! We deeply believe that this is a true way of vikings' hunting! :D
Great game for a first time jam! I really like this game. The graphics are super adorable and it's got such a lighthearted feel for a sacrifice theme :P Definitely fun to play!
There's a lot of good in here, so it's probably quicker for me to just say the things I didn't like about it, and you can just assume everything else was great, and I'll shoutout the bits I loved most.
The music was a bit too repetitive. I think most of the games could have been fine with this music, but the fact your game has (comparatively) so much content means the music had a bit more time to grow stale.
It feels like it could have benefited from being just a little bit faster (especially the moving platforms)
It felt a lil' weird having the game as polished as it was (you even had footstep sound effects!), but then for the big bloody sacrifices to be so quiet.
There was a visual bug of somekind where I could see the sky for a split second behind the bits where one ground tile ended and another one began? Just these lines of blue going through the ground.
Asides from that, the art was great, the platforming movement was well done (particularily happy that nothing bugged out when I put myself between the roof and a lift going up!). I am so happy there's a save game system. The real crown though was the level design. So much decor, nothing about it felt rushed, and I had a habit of always winding up in the right place, so I feel like the level was directing me really well.
Well polished, thematic, fun!
Great pixel art and nice color palette. Some elements like the skulls or the spikes could use a stronger visual clue though. I had a fun time, thanks for that :)
@subtlydramatic some of our team members had a first game jam a month ago, it just wasn't the LD jam. It was my first time though :)
@hannaesthetic - thanks for such a long review! You are exactly right about the big blood sacrifice being too quiet. On the other hand, groans of the poor animals being murdered in the exact moment wouldn't really fit into the game ;) We save all the feedback to use in our future games and in the post-LD edition of Vikrifice!
Great game. Loved the pixel art! My only complaint about it is I couldn't see the spikes very well - on my first 2 tries I just died without understanding whats happening.
@furtive-pygmy @kirke I also noticed the lines between the tiles. The actual solution to this problem in unity is to use the 2D Pixel Perfect Camera package (still in preview). This way you don't need to modify your art at all + you will improve the crispness of the graphics in general. The glitch you are observing is because your tiles are not exactly aligned to the screen pixels (especially when the camera moves around) which will be fixed by the pixel perfect camera.
Cool little game, no aspect has been left out which is nice. Both the music and sound design are enjoyable, gameplay is classic but effective ! The controls are especially agreeable, which is a hard thing to achieve when it comes to platformers.
Making several levels also is quite impressive given the time you had. I commend on that.
Something I could find to criticize is your coherence : what do vikings, jungle tribes, cats and pigs, etc... have to do together ? Maybe you would gain from defining your universe more precisely.
Good work, congrats :)
I love your artstyle and the setting and had fun playing. I think beeing able to run, would be cool.
Good job
Nice graphics and gameplay! well done. Maybe a little more variation needed in the music. And a viking battleaxe of course!
Hey, this was really cool!
You set the mood really well with the viking theme. The pixel art was amazing and worked really well. I reached the third level before I got frustrated with waiting for platforms and restarting from far away.
Here are some thoughts for next time: * A slight parallax effect in the background could make the playable plane pop out nicely. * UI elements (hearts & skulls) could be larger (I played with a gamepad, far away from the screen). * There is no gamepad mapping for picking up/dropping creatures. * I liked the (E) prompt on animal pickup. Consider making it even more obvious (e.g. colored, animated or larger). * Spikes look like fences :). I'd make them more messy, e.g. set diagonally. * Adding even more visual feedback for pickups (hearts, skull), e.g. animate them to the UI corner, particle effects,... * The level and puzzle design was great, but maybe a bit dense. The lore is really nice, so you could add breathing room between challenges and add tiny bits of lore in the middle (just short text notes would do). * Short transitions between levels would be nice (or a "Level complete" text). It felt like we were teleported randomly and was a bit disorienting.
Overall, this was super awesome and fun, well done!
Loved it! Great take on the theme. I think the color palette makes it a bit hard to spot the cat against the background, and I also don't like the sneaky spikes in lvl 4 (maybe it's just me) I don't really understand why a viking would be in a jungle setting. Seems a bit random. Overall great work!
Liked it a lot! Rip Pig & Cat. Stayed in love until the end
Very classy production! Vague memories of Shadow of the Beast playing this for some reason! Must be the tribal style music. Nice work!
This is really well made and polished. Level design is great and it switches things up with stuff like taking away your double jump when carrying the sacrifices. At times though, the game feels a bit too slow paced for my taste and the music, while fitting, gets a bit grating after a while. Overall a great entry!
@hannaesthetic - thank you so much, I can see you really put your heart to play and to comment, I really appreciate it! Each advices are precious for us! :) Music is repetitive because this is one of my first steps in music and I just start learning how to do it (and of course during game jam there was no time for long tutorials xD). I swear, for next game music will be better! :D Yup, moving platforms should be faster - sorry for that, our designing fault :) And of course during sacrifice should be some sound - does it sound weird if I say we completely forgot about it? xD But, honestly, as @tiar mentioned, some brutal sounds could be too creepy for this game... Especially in the end :P (But we will try to find most... ee... positive-death-scream-sound(?)! Haha, thanks!)
Thank you for your playing and comment so rich in good advice! <3
@kamen-kitanov Thank you for information about 2D Pixel Perfect Camera! We will use it next time for sure!!! Many thanks! :)
@thefunattic Thank you for your playing and comment! :D We wanted to create funny world, where viking is somewhere like tropical island to make sacrifice to the gods. This island is mostly related to the enemies! :) Luring sacrifices prey by cat was just a funny idea, created by our crazy minds (and of course, we still deeply belive that this is a true way of hunting! xD). We just have a lots of fun during creating this crazy world! :D
@arcticmattekar Great idea with running! Thanks! Our kitten is grateful (he likes when his slave runs)! =(^.^)=
@fre - you are a genius! Thank you very much for these advices! Many of them are simple to make and they will have great positive impact on the game and gameplay! Many, many thanks! :D
Nice game. However I felt it was a bit heavy. I would have seen the same game but with more speed. The graphics were the highlights. Good work overall!
@mateusboga "Sneaky spikes", I love that expression! This is a dirty job of our sneaky member! He couldn't resist to put it, I don't know why... I think, we have to sacrifice him... for the bigger good. :P And the viking is on tropical island... Holidays, sport, blood - as usual :D
@sadsmile You... Do you know, what have you done?? Beware now, do not play with cats! :P
@silkworm-sweatshop - thank you for playing and for advices! Next time we will try to speed up game and create longer (and better) music! :D
@jonathan-lorenz - thank you for playing and your tip! We'll probably speed our game up :D
:D This is a knock out game! I love the look of it, and the sounds. I have a bit of a struggle in moving and leaping accurately, but you've gone an incredible amount of work with this one!
Echoing everyone else...very polished and well-made game. Great job!
(...that said, I did notice one tiny bug where two tiki men caused each other to run stuck in place, but that was only once in the entire game, and it was hardly a problem to deal with.)
Amazing game with cool graphics!)
@foodzilla @joshanthony1990 @gri-bel Thank you for your comments! It encourages us to make good quality games! :D We are glad u like it!
Is this an improved version of Mario? Hahah Love it!
@arnau Haha! We didn't think about it xD We came into the idea in one hour of our crazy talks. We passed through different mechanics like surfing on boats, fighting with battleaxe and other staff. Eventually we have the most realistic fighting simulator like jumping on heads and double jumping of the heavy viking xD But we think it makes this game funnier and more crazy, which is something we wanted to achieve. ^^
Very cool game, great music and graphics!
@deemoo Glad to hear that! :D
Cool game, I especially liked the environment as it was very detailed but I felt quite sad having to sacrifice the pig but you know, you gotta do what you gotta do
Too many people like your game, including me
Love your game. Great graphics, great concept and nice audio. Good job!
Nice pixel graphics, the soundtrack is also cool. The level design and the game mechanics are really fun! Had a great time. Congratulations! :D
I'm amazed by the amount of levels and their complexity. I got lost a couple of times.
I played it on my x360 controller, only using E, Q for animals. So you can add that to the description.
I like the gameplay and level of detail.
No major bugs for me. One enemy in last level did not move (Movement animation played but position didn't change). Also you could tweak settings in animation transitions so that when you tap left/right animation stops when you release the button instead of going all the way to the end.
Pretty nice! I found that if you die after activating a crumbling rock, you respawn but the rock doesn't, so you can't get the skulls and hearts if that's the only way there unless you restart the level.
Beautiful game ! Loved the graphics
@pablodap Wow! I couldn't believe I'll ever tell it xD Pablo, *it's not a bug, it's a feature!* xD We wanted it to behave like that to make you know if you encounter such platforms, it'll be something additional, like skulls or hearts but you have only one chance to get them! Thank you for your comment! Now I believe this sentence can be true! xDDD
You guys put a lot of passion and effort to this game. And it really shows. It turned out great! Also I really dig the art.
Congrats on your game. Keep rocking and see you on the next ludum ;)
@sadzanenyama - I know... Sacrifices of pig and the rest of animals is sad... But - SACRIFICES MUST BE MADE! It's not our choice x.X
@morriss, @meskaline, @game-mon and @vincent-blot - thank you very, very much! I'm really thrilled y'all like graphics :D
@ryzy27 - We're sorry that you got lost. We swear - we were trying to make quite intuitive way for level, but this is our beginning with level design and we still have to learn a lot. We hope our next levels in next games will be more intuitive! Thank you for your opinion! Thank you also for your information about x360 controller! =(^.^)= We will be working for better animation :) And this one enemy, who is walking and is always in the same position - he was so tired because of sleepless night that he now just sleeps and raises his legs habitually. Yup, that is true xD
Thanks for your all kind words @gerardb!!! You're right, we put a lot of our effort to this game, but it was so fun for all of us. Great experience! See you on the next ludum! :D
Great game you made here ! Will be even better with sound feebacks ;)
Good work! I always admire people who can create a game with levels on game jams... and more than one!
@arvejeitor Thanks for that comment! It was our main goal - to make mechanics flexible enough to enable us create many levels. We are glad you liked it! :)
very fun and very funny game! congrats all! Also lovely graphics <33
Awesome game. Controls felt solid and gameplay was fun. Really enjoyed the artwork. Great Job!
Very well done! The graphics are really really well done. keep up the good work!
Well done. Movement was nice and tight feeling. The music was pretty infectious and fit the game nicely. Only minor issue was the spikes didn't stand out enough from the background in some places causing more deaths than I'd like to admit. Still super fun and I really enjoyed it.
@block97 @steel-dev @christina-antoinette-neofotistou Thank you guys! It's super cool you liked it! :D
@vimlark Thank you for your comment. We received a lot of feedback about these obstacles and we will improve them in our next games and even this game when the jam ends :)
Overall this is a really good game! I really liked the sacrifice animation with the pig, completely unnecessary amount of blood, i love it. The game plays really well, fits the theme. I like how the collection items are skulls, adding to the theme again. Bugs: You can get hit by one of the enemies, then keep walking into them and not lose another life, maybe you should respawn after being hit? I think the spikes look a lot more like fences than spikes, I was confused when I first died to a spike, maybe if they were all silver and shorter? just an idea.
Love the game though!
@matthewjd389 Next time we will make sure that spikes will be much more intuitive and everyone will be scared to touch them! Beware!! Thank you for you feedback. We will try to fix the one with enemies. We're glad you liked our game :)
This is overall a very well made platform game. The best part of this game, is the very well made player controls. The graphics is also pretty good. The music is okay, but it is not the best. So well done.
@jk5000 We are glad you like controls and art - we did our best to make players feel comfortable while playing. :)
I played this game with my GameDev hat on and I could probably write an essay on everything good about this game as a platformer. Some of it is aforementioned in the comments above and then more.
Considering the time frame - it is a LOT of game. Perhaps, one of the longest I've played in any jam.
This is not the most constructive comment. If something constructive comes to me, I'll let you know but take it as an appreciation of your collective talents.
@mza thank you for playing! We are really happy you like it!!! We're just beginners in gamedev and we really put our heart into this game :D
The art of this game is so pretty! And I love the idea of rescuing a kitten, though I felt very sorry for the pig after that brief love story. I also felt sorry for the locals, at least they just seemed knocked out? After all, this big lumbering dude is charging through their turf, it's no wonder they have their shields and weapons drawn.
The audio could use a little more polish and variety, and sometimes the idle animation of the viking didn't work (he used the walking animation instead, despite not moving in any direction). Great job on accomplishing this much in such a short time, however!
Great game, I didn't know the vikings used cute cats to attract the animals  very creative!
The levels are very worked. Good job 😄
Damn that ambitious, how did you managed to do that much ? Good entry !
I loved this game. The art style is GORGEOUS and hey, the gameplay is fun too! I enjoyed the viking in the tropics aesthetic. My one question is if those hearts are my lives? Also, will I have to replay the game if they run out? I feel like you could make that more clear in the beginning. Anyway, nice game. You deserved all of my stars!
@firebug don't worry, our viking is peaceful and didn't want to make any harm, they just faint, like in Pokemon game ;) Regarding the animation... well it's not the only thing that didn't work out, there is some more information about what was meant to be but unfortunately got cut out because of time constrainst and mistakes, just check out my feed, the post called "Vikrifice: cut content" is the one you look for.
@hugonun @nekonyo @narudgi thanks!
@flashviper yes, the hearts are your lives. You don't need to replay the whole game, just the level. I'll try to update the description to be as clear as possible in that matter. And thank you for your nice words and support :)
Overall I enjoyed the game, it simple platformer with a lot of charm. I would like to see a bit more mechanical depth. You only jump and pick stuff, it would be much better if the game uses some different mechanic. Besides that, the theme is intelligently integrated with the game. The graphics are really well done. The pixel art is superb and all the small animations and details are fantastic. From the rotation of the skull to the character movement, everything is really well crafted. The game is overall very polished. The sound is also very good and fits well the tribal style of the game. The idea of Vikings in the tropics is so random but I found it really funny XD.
Overall a really nice game, congratz ;).
Congratulations guys! I love vikings and hate cats! Nice job.
Good game! The art is nice, and the sound effects and music goes nicely with it. The levels are quite long, though.
Wow! Impressive amount of content here! Loved the style and the character though I felt the theme was a bit forced. However, it did give me a bit of a mario nostalgia trip, so have some stars!
Thanks for submitting this cool piece of game to our LD P&R Stream! Enjoyed playing and looking forward to hearing from you.
@pedro-rosa Thank you for your comment. We tried to add as much mechanics as we could in 72 hours. We added constraints that you can only single-jump and you are moving slower when you carry animal to sacrifice. We added triggers, moving, invisible and crumbling platforms. Hope you enjoyed them! :)
@rodrigo-grego @sandpile Thanks! We are glad you enjoyed it! :D
@hi-im-greg Hi Greg! We were discusing theme for some time. Eventually, we decided to make the theme more surprising to people. To add things that don't match, like viking in the tropics who is hunting pigs, sheeps and other animals with help of a kitten. :D It sounds crazy but we believe people can be more excited while playing it when they don't know what to expect. :)
@firesplash-entertainment Thank you again for playing! We enjoyed watching you playing! Hope u liked it! ;)
Very nice game, it was fun to play. The contrast was sometimes a bit bad and it was hard to see the spikes, especially at the start.
@smbe19 Thanks for playing! Yes, spikes are hard to detect, we will make them much more visible and intuitive after game jam. :)
I loved your game! The graphics are beautiful, the sounds are also great! Really nice job for the jam short time, unbelievable good! Congratulations!
@kirke This game was very charming and lovely! Did enjoy playing it, but think Im not so good at the platforming. Got kind of stuck and din't know what to do.
You can watch how I did here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PAOgJlbt3Y
Thanks for sharing, it's a nice-looking game!
Really nice game you made here. You could add some extra feedbacks on certain actions (gfx mostly), but it was a simple yet solid platformer game. Good job !
Wow! How did you guys find the time to make 5 complete levels. This is fantastic craftsmanship. :) Nice puzzles, mechanics and polish.
Side note: You can walk off the screen on level 2 behind the cave the sheep comes out of, not sure if the collision is slightly out of view or if continuing in that direction would break the game (via falling off the map, etc)
@alext-design Thank you for your time and playing! And btw, you almost complete 2nd level, your sheep was waiting for you! :P
@lucecyl and @beardmage - We are so glad you like our game! This gives us a motivation! :)
@aim - Thank you for your time and comment! We split making levels into three people - and this was really great and fun part of developing game! <3 Could you give us more info about this bug, you mentioned? Because we tried to reproduce it and everything is as we planned. Do you maybe say about moment when "kitten hunting sheep with hearts" and camera doesn't follow player? Because if yes, when camera starts to follow player again there you can see a solid wall of ground :D (But if it is not this, we would be really grateful for screen or sth!) Btw, thank you very much!
Really solid entry and the scale is impressive. It was very satisfying to play and moved pretty well. I don't really have a bad thing to say about it.
Feels like a complete game, art is great, fits the theme, only bad thing I noticed the spikes blend in with the backgrounds it not obvious they will harm you.
@arron-fowler Thank you for your comment! We are glad you liked it! :D
@digitaldude555 We know the issue, thanks for your feedback. We will improve it in our next games! We are happy you enjoyed the game! ;)
Great entry! This game is ambitious, the map is huge! I love the pixel art as well.
One thing I noticed, maybe it's just me, I thought the screen was flickering with lines at times, not sure if it's the pixel art?
That is one great game. You're so good to make it in just 3 days! Art is very cool and animation is so nice. I wonder if you slept at all? :)
@jusw85 Hi Jusw85! Thanks for comment! We are happy you like our game! We know the issue with flickering. This is because we have pixel art graphics and move the camera in continuous space. Now we know we could use Pixel Perfect 2D to get rid of this flickering. :-) Thanks for caring!
@jevgeni-orehhov Hello Jevgeni Orehhov! We slept only a bit actually but it was worth it! :D Thanks for your comment!

Alright, here's my thoughts:
The gameplay is clean, and works pretty well. It's pretty fun until it gets hard, but other than that, it's pretty well done! My rating: 4.5 stars.
Innovation... It's Mario but with Vikings, tropical rainforests, and sacrificial animals instead of plumbers, mushroom kingdoms, and flags. Oh well. My rating: 3 stars.
The theme fit well, but the interpretation of the theme is, of course, generic. My rating: 4.5 stars.
The graphics looked really nice! They did have some technical issues though. The flicker is the most obvious one, but aside from that, the player's animations had some problems. If you were using Unity, this would be because exit time is enabled on all the transitions, but in any case, they had some difficulty transitioning when you jumped, started walking, or stopped walking. My rating: 4.5 stars.
The audio sounds nice and fits very well with the game! My rating: 5 stars.
I hate having to tell everyone this, but unless your game is specifically humorous, opt out! The cat interaction was the closest the game got to "funny," but this was a stretch. My rating: 2.5 stars. I'm not going to put that rating officially though, because I think you need to opt out.
The mood was quite nice. Everything meshed to create a rather convincing mood. Of course, none of this is even close to historically accurate (although Vikings did sacrifice animals), but whatever. My rating: 4.5 stars.
Overall, this is a very well done and polished entry! My rating: 4.5 stars.
When I viewed the exotic island setting and iconic viking character, I felt impressed! If you continue to develop this, when I reached the lever that lifted the elevator and the level restarted, I was unclear. Did I die?
Ok, graphics look really good, the gameplay is solid and quite fun. I think with added mechanics and variety, this could be really good. It's already Ludum Dare good, but I mean actual-game-good :D
This treacherous kitten.
