Very beautiful and relaxing.

Very beautiful and relaxing.
The game idea is great and the controls are on point. The music fits the game and I love the sound effects! Sometimes I confused the back of the boat with its front (but that is my fault).
Really fun and polished game with nice graphics! :thumbsup:
A very cute looking puzzle game. I like the main character and its sound effects. In Chrome the camera spins too fast for me, but despite that nice job!
I got my ass kicked but I enjoyed the animations and the art.
Why is ground pound and flag planting not the same button. I kept switching up the two :dizzy_face:
Nice work!
This game looks really cool. Unfortunately your server was offline. I would really like to try it. I'll stop by again tomorrow.
I love the graphics (really cute and awesome) and the sound :heart_eyes:. However, I have the same question as for_science. But love the idea. Good job!
Nice artwork. I was kind of bad playing this game (entirely my fault). So I always died quite fast, but the game wouldn't stop and would produced more and more enemies and I couldn't get to the menu (I am using Windows 10):
bug..JPG
Except that, I enjoyed playing your game. Keep it up :upside_down:
Nice art and the controls are working good. I had fun playing it.
A nice game. I was sometimes not sure if I got hit. Maybe always showing the P menu in the corner would resolve that?
Overall, well done! :)
Interesting game mechanics. The tiles reminded me Settlers of Catan. I love your take on the theme. :)
Haha, awesome! It is so funny seeing the player fly around the field. The pixel art is really nice and I love that you have a mobile build. Nice job! :thumbsup:
Love the animation of the player character and the art style.
Nice work! :)
Very atmospheric game. Nice work. :)
I like the puzzle mechanic and the fitting art style. I had fun puzzling :thumbsup:
A really cute game with lovely sound effects. I wished it had more puzzles.
Nice work! :thumbsup:
I love the art and animation. I had problems jumping high walls though.
Nice game! :upside_down:
I think I started to get the hang of the controls, but the constant rotation unfortunately started to give me motion sickness :( I think the mechanic is intriguing though, but maybe not with a third person camera?
Fun idea. It felt really easy at first (at least after I realized how to actually release my abductees), but the tanks instantly killed me. I still haven't figured out how to stay alive after dropping off the first few cows.
I like the concept and the graphics, as well as the tractor beam sound. :wink:
This game looks very lovely. I like the puzzle mechanic. Very neat idea. Awesome art style :thumbsup:
Very beautiful art style. The controls are a bit unintuitive. I think it would be awesome if the mouse could be used for the building phase. Is there a button to restart the game?
I think I created a unconnected hover car :D Love the idea
An interesting adventure game. Too bad it ended so abruptly, I never saw Sarah. I also didn't feel as if I had "tricked" the Doctor, it was more a "here drink this! Muahahha" ;)
It also seems that the game does not remember whether I already found something, or maybe all my drawers are just full of aspirin.
Overall, I had a lot of fun. :thumbsup:
I like your music :upside_down:
I noticed two minor points while playing: - I think your ability bar is not working correctly, when I click on it, the character moves to where I clicked instead of activating the ability. - When I play as the ghost (missile combat) enemies I attack don't realize that I am there.
The sandwich-making gave the platformer game machanic a nice touch. I liked that I had to grow the lettuce and that I could buy the needed cheese on my way :upside_down:
Cute game!
Love the art style, very cuddly and cute! Achievements and Followers are a great mechanic and I like how the number of followers grows even if I take crappy photos.
I guess my only question is: Does the mood correlate with anything that I did before the photo shoot? is it random?
Loved the game! Great job. :heart_eyes:
Interesting idea. The art looks good and the animations are funny. It is a bit frustrating that when you loose, you have to start from the beginning. Maybe just restarting against the current enemy would be better?
Nice game :)
This was awesome and fun!! Very nice game. :dancer: :man_dancing:
Really beautiful game. I love the pixel art and the well places sound effects (walking on the snow). The music reminds me a bit of minecraft (which is awesome). I really would like to see this turned into a full game in the future with some gameplay elements. Maybe like building and farming things?
Nice work! :thumbsup:
Haha, very nice game. Lovely graphics and an awesome take on the theme.
Very well done! Had fun playing! :heart_eyes:
Haha, great idea. I love the sound effects. Had a bit problems controlling the penguin though. I kept falling of the island.
Nice game. :thumbsup:
This is amazing! Awesome pixel art and a really funny idea. A tree that is an elevator, lol! Nice job!!
I saw your game on twitter and had finally time to play it. I really like your art style (reminded me a lot of Osmos). Is there a next level when you reach the 30/30 goal (I unfortunately never made it). :(
I too am interested in seeing what this will be growing into.
I really like your art and music. Unfortunately I ran into a dead end at the second portal after the bridge. I could not figure out how to get past that one.
The curve of the world made me a little motion sick, but I am really prone to that anyway ;)
Overall I think it's a neat concept .
Nice! I love the graphics and the splash screen. I like the idea. I had a problems rotating the camera though.
Nice game! :thumbsup:
That was funny :joy:
Finally had time to play your game. It has been sitting on my bookmark list for almost a week now. I love the art and music. Solving the puzzles felt like old times discovering magic spells in mmorpgs. A very relaxing and beautiful game :heart_eyes:
This is a nice idea. I really like the graphics and the relaxing music (even if a asteroid just crushed my city ^^). The controls work really well. Nice job! :thumbsup:
Interesting idea. I like that you implemented different modes to play and that your AI is kind of smart :)
I like the idea. I am not quite sure how you win though? I think highlighting the selected bugs with a different color would benefit the game.
Nice work :upside_down:
This is a really nice game with good mechanics. Keep it up!
Nice game for a 48 hour compo. The graphics is nice and the controls feel good.
A nice idea for the small world theme. :)
@SheepTree Thanks for pointing that out :) I added a section regarding controls to the description. The little gray dots are food.
EDIT: I have just uploaded a slightly modified version that (hopefully) explains stuff in game :D
Thank you all for playing and the great feedback so far :heart_eyes:
@brainy-beard Glad to hear that 72 hours without sleep paid off. :sleeping:
@blinry It's not Voronoi directly (well it is in a way), but we used some shader magic to approximate it and add some random noise for the wobble.
@occultone thank you for playing it :) I just resubmitted it and would love if you gave it another try.
Don't eat them, creatures that are not your own color are your enemies and will drain your energy badly if you touch them! :rofl:
Yeah, we have noticed that the gray pellets are easy to miss and we will definitely change that in a post-jam version (didn't feel right to doctor with it after the jam deadline). The keyboard controls are designed with 2 people in mind, so that anyone can play with a friend, even if you don't have gamepads. Playing with a gamepad is a little more comfortable though. :wink:
Also don't worry about the non-readable text on the energy bars too much, it is mostly decoration.
I'll get myself some caffeine this time, so I can stay up till the end! (Germany here)
@occultone thanks for playing it again :upside_down: To see someone playing the game (and enjoying it) is extremely helpful (and motivating)
@sebastian-lague you can restart the game by pressing Escape (or Backspace, or Start on a gamepad) and going back to the main menu. But yes, one of the first features we'll add in a post-jam version is that the game speeds up, once it's all bots.
@rahtainka there was unfortunately no time to balance power-ups, but we have a few in mind that we would like to add in a post-jam version. Anything in particular you would like to see added?
A very nice game idea :upside_down:
Some planet did not show up. If this game gets a bit more polish it could be a nice educational game for kids about the solar system.
I love the ominous music playing whenever I pick up *anything*. "A rock" dundunduuun :joy:
I gathered all the resources but I think the game would have benefited from some additional content. Maybe have the player actually mix potions or maybe some obstacles to prevent you from finding all the potions right away?
I like the music and the funny animations, especially the floppy arms :) It was fun to play.
I like the idea of your first person puzzle game. I think you have to be careful with your field of view, if it is too small it might cause motion sickness. Overall a nice project for your first time in Unity :upside_down:
I like the idea of the game mechanic. Unfortunately, I always died after the first few jumps :(
This is an really interesting idea. I this kind of games (maybe with a little less waiting :wink:). The controls are intuitive. Nice entry and good job :upside_down:
I love the relaxing atmosphere. The music reminds me a lot of Trine (which is good ;)). It took me a round to realize there were combos. The gameplay is fun and the graphics are very beautiful. Love it :heart_eyes:
Nice game :upside_down: I like your 3D Models and it has a nice atmosphere.
I have some minor points, from which (I think) the game would benefit in a later iteration: - I was a bit confused by the controls, maybe adding the standard movement a and d keys would make it a bit easier to play. - I accidentally kept building stuff by left clicking (mostly my fault), but maybe color highlighting when something is selected would prevent that - I would add tool tips like how expensive is it to build a fence (maybe just write a number left to the button)
Definitely keep it up! :thumbsup:
A very beautiful and simplistic puzzle game. One of my favorite games so far :)
Hah, nice. I can play as a fish kicking people. :joy:
The controls work well and I like that there is a character selection menu :)
I love the animations of the mouse and the ending made me laugh. :)
Great idea! I love the twist and your view on the theme.
Now I need some cereals (or chocolate :chocolate_bar:)
Nice view on the theme :) I like the sound effects (squeeeeeak) :joy: Nice work!
I like your take on the theme. The graphic and music are really well made. Nice work! :upside_down:
I enjoyed the game and loved the cute animation and pixel art.
However, I had problems with your control scheme. I am using a QWERTZ keyboard, so x and z are not as conveniently close as they maybe on other layouts. Maybe you could just add the y key to also work for jumping?
I like the sound effects and the hamster looks really cute. I had a few problems jumping (but I think that is just a training thing). Nice idea :upside_down:
Interesting game. The art style and atmosphere is amazing.
Very cool entry. Nice work! :thumbsup:
Funny idea :joy: I love that the window itself moves ^^
Nice game idea and good take on the theme :upside_down: If you develop it further, I think something like a health bar on the target platform would be nice.
In the beginning I had a few problems on how to shoot in the right direction, but after a few rounds this worked quite well. I like the pixel art and sounds. Nice work :upside_down:
Played it with an Oculus Rift and it works great. I think you forgot to include the UnityPlayer.dll (but I had my own).
I like that it is designed for room-scale, especially that it is a game where I don't get VR sickness. I was a bit confused by the running bar on the top though.
My score is much worse than that of @for-science: only 337 in 2 rounds :slight_frown:
Keep it up :grinning:
Great polished game! I love the art and the music. I didn't manage to win, but that's totally on me :grinning:
This has great potential (maybe with multiplayer for a post-jam version). Overall, nice work :thumbsup:
I love the puzzle mechanic and the dino! :heart_eyes: The idea fits the theme perfectly.
On a minor note, the text is really difficult to read. Other than that, I had a lot of fun. Keep it up :thumbsup:
This is a very cool game! I had a lot of fun :thumbsup: I couldn't get a score higher than 12... ldjam40.png
Very elegant idea for the theme. I had fun playing it with a friend :upside_down:
This game is kind of creepy and weird---I love the idea and I had fun playing it :grinning:
I think object highlighting could be improved. Maybe highlight objects by proximity, so the player knows what items can be interacted with. Also maybe add a cross-hair (could be just a subtle point in the center of the screen) to make picking up objects easier.
Keep it up! :thumbsup:
@icxon Thanks for your awesome playthrough! :smile:
The walls are 3D models, but the entire architecture is just one big top-down texture with shading painted into it by hand (AO would have been easier, but we wanted that painted look). All walls are 1m high and the furniture is just 2D sprites on top of black boxes of varying heights. The dynamic player light is at 0.95m. Other than that there's only one directional light coming from the top left, adding subtle low-res shadows. Everything is topped off with a bit of post-processing.
Here's the editor view: dotd_editor_view.jpg
@icxon @honey We have just written up a brief [**Graphics Breakdown**](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/deadline-of-the-dead/$136807) that shows some behind the scenes stuff.
@rugbug-redfern Getting the icons to the edge of the screen was a really dirty last-minute hack. Every active task (work, coffee, restroom) has a marker gameobject that enables itself whenever the task is not on screen (determined using Camera.WorldToViewportPoint). While active, the marker automatically moves itself into the view rectangle of the main camera. This is done using the camera's position, aspect ratio, a fixed height value for the markers, and a magic scaling factor that was determined by trial and error, because we only had 72 hours ;)
So what we ended up doing is the following:
``` float aspect = mainCamera.aspect; Vector3 viewDir = (worldPos - mainCamera.transform.position).normalized; Vector3 target = Vector3.right * Mathf.Sign(viewDir.x) * aspect; if (viewDir.z != 0) { target = Mathf.Sign(viewDir.z) * viewDir / viewDir.z; if (Mathf.Abs(target.x) > aspect) target = Mathf.Sign(target.x) * target / target.x * aspect; } Vector3 pos = mainCamera.transform.position + target * magicScale; pos.y = markerHeight; marker.transform.position = pos; ```
But this only works, because the camera stays at a fixed height, pointing straight down. The markers are also scaled based on their respective task's distance to the main camera.
OMG this was awesome :laughing: Great job :thumbsup: I loved the thumbsup egg :heart_eyes:
@jofish Thank you for your feedback! We will be posting a breakdown of our rapid level design techniques as soon as we have gotten some sleep. We had actually implemented Invert Y-Axis (and Look Sensitivity for that matter), it appears we just forgot to actually add it to the menu! I have pushed a fixed version to itch.
This is a very cool and fun game and the chickens are very cute :baby_chick: :blue_car:
I love your cover image :thumbsup:
This is a very beautiful game, I love it :heart_eyes: I like the "take care of the plants" mechanic :thumbsup:
I really liked the concept and mechanic! It also fits the theme perfectly :smiley:
Nice job :thumbsup:
Very cool game! I love the vibe :alien: I think I poke Edgar to much, but he is so cute :heart_eyes:
Good job :thumbsup:
I love the mood of the game. The music fits perfectly and the graphics are cute :heart_eyes:
Good job :thumbsup:
I love the artstyle and he mood. Moreover, I had fun playing it.
Good job :thumbsup:
This is a very well-made and engaging game! I liked the turn-base-like puzzle design and that you had a undo-system. I especially loved the sheep sounds :sheep: :laughing:
Excellent job! :thumbsup:
I really adore the art and the game is super fun :sunny:
Sorry for the late comment, but I had to beat @blinry score first :yum:
image_2022-04-21_111016136.png
I really enjoyed this game - especially throwing the weights and broccoli at the character was really funny and made me laugh :laughing: Well done! :thumbsup:
I love the idea! The game is polished and the animations are really funny! Nice job :thumbsup: :hatching_chick:
I love the art style and mood! :heart_eyes: The typing mechanic fits perfectly. Great job :thumbsup:
The art is really cute :heart_eyes: I love the super hungry expression of the player character :yum: Well done :meat_on_bone:
The artwork is very pretty - I love it :heart_eyes:
@mr-rice Thank you. It was made with Unity.
I don't have a cat - but this seems realistic :laughing: Good job :thumbsup:
You had me at "Racoon". I love your game name :laughing: The graphics are really cute and funny. I love it :heart_eyes:
Now I'm hungry too :yum: I had fun - very nice idea and implementation :thumbsup: image_2022-10-05_094142648.png
Very funky :cyclone: This is a very creative puzzle idea - I like it. :thumbsup:
This was very cozy - I love it. The art style is very nice and the music fits perfectly :heart_eyes:
I don't know that too say - except that is a really cool idea :thumbsup: AIGalleryPainting-2022-10-06_02-47-37.png
I love the art style and the spooky mood - especially the clock sound!
The web version seemed to work on my pc. Very well done :thumbsup:
This is a fun idea! The art style is great - especially the animations. Very cool :thumbsup:
The sounds and the mood is great. Love the colors :thumbsup:
Very cool entry for your first game jam :thumbsup: I like the cookie clicker meets tower defense idea. Very well done!
