Not bad!
I love the ominous music playing whenever I pick up *anything*. "A rock" dundunduuun :joy:
I gathered all the resources but I think the game would have benefited from some additional content. Maybe have the player actually mix potions or maybe some obstacles to prevent you from finding all the potions right away?
The game glitched on me a couple of times when collecting items (the UI didn't disappear?) but on reloading it worked fine and saved my location which was a nice surprise! A good effort well done
The game make feel a little bit lost, without any feedback if my character is really moving. I think you should smooth the movements to solve this problem, not just teleport the character to the next grid position. When I pick up a icon, it keeps there. I think you should delete them.
Good job!
Good start on a game engine! It could use a little bit more of a challenge component - something like enemies, or puzzles, or hiding the items with clues a bit. I hope you keep going after the compo.
Good attempt, obviously needs some work but good entry! :)
Interesting approach. I like your take on the theme!
I keep getting stuck after picking up an item - the UI that pops up doesn't go away. Cool music though! I appreciate the work that must have gone into the 48 hours.
That was interesting. The music is good and the graphics are clear. I don't understand why you made the horizontal dimension of the game so small. The only way I could figure out to get the item collected notification to go away was to go back to the main menu and then re-enter the game.
Not bad! I can see your entry being a pretty solid foundation for additional content. The current version is interesting, but suffers a bit for having so few objects to collect. I think that being able to click away the notification screen, rather than having to wait for it to disappear on its own, would improve the flow of the game a bit.
I loved the soundtrack, and especially how the sound-effects sounded like they were part of the background music, but were still distinctive enough to signal the events. I even caught myself trying to play along with the background music with the "cannot go here" sound, by repeatedly walking into a tree.
I'm looking forward to trying the post-LD version!
>The wizard embarks, >on an ingredients hunt. >Gonna find them all!
I was a bit confused..I found all the ingredients, I was expecting to use the someway:D I liked the music everytime you find something, but I'd let the player go on with the hunt even before the sound ends. Sometimes when the background is all the same, you can't even tell that the player is moving. Pretty basic right now but can be improved by a larger map and a maze structure, to add some challenge.
Hi! I have the following suggestions for an improved user experience: - Have a different screen instead of the Main Menu for the player to go to after collecting an item. I was confused, thinking "Wait, the game just restarted?" - After collecting all 5, the "You found everything!" screen should pop up immediately, not after going back to the Main Menu and walking a couple more steps
Overall, you've got a solid base to build on. Good luck :)
Good game! I found all the ingredients rather easily and I am guessing that was the point from the Tile of the game, I can only assume you ran out of time during the compo to add the crafting system. I've seen games use this top down style quite effectively for rpg games maybe consider that route as well if your not completely sold on the crafting potions idea.
The music is great! The gameplay isn't really developed enough to be very meaningful, but could definitely be the start of a cool if you add crafting and/or some roguelike gameplay.
Having to go to the main menu and back after each item is very confusing btw
It seems that it's not finished, but it's a good start, before add crafting, here are some feedback: - it's strange to be able to walk through water but not the water on the side (I know it is world limit, but it's weird that nothing visually tell me what can I do, and what I can't). Maybe just forbid water, and add a bridge tile? - The UI doesn't disappear (I had to change the size of my window to disappear it each time). Time effect (I supposed it the problem) could be hard to manage, maybe a key action is easier? - crafting is always tempting, but for a ludum dare game, it is dangerous, sometimes it's better to have a simple mechanic and a finish game...
The Audio is ok! but I would improve on graphics! It doesn't really seem finished but it's a nice game!
The audio is good, but the graphics definitely need some work, as the player teleports to move and the background is too uniform, sometimes you can't even tell you moved. It doesn't seem finished, but it's a good base and start, keep going :)
