Great idea to combine a gardening game with a tower defense! First I didn't understand that I needed to click on the shop building to buy plants so I was a bit confused. But once I figured it out it was a good bit of fun! Great work :)

I quick liked this simple tower defense game. The art style and sounds were great. Though I do think the difficulty ramped up a bit too quickly and the plants were overly needy for water and other help.

It's also be great to have some improved target prioritization. Often the plants we targeting enemies with high health instead of those in range with lower health. Maybe tweak that a bit or let the player click on enemies to prioritize them.

Great job!

Nice Game! I really like the mechanics to keep the plants alive, good job!

keln 2020-04-21 13:30

Cutest art ever :).

Nice balancing!, although I was a little tired of too much clicking from the tools and then to the plants, It would have helped more controls there hehe

sassykeys 2020-04-21 13:32

Very sweet game! Great art and look too! I love the unique take on the tower defense genre :) When the game gets going it is very challenging and definitely keeps you on your toes!

mrowka 2020-04-21 13:44

Really nice game, I got to level 9, I probably would have done better if I realized that it's better to keep the plants close to each other ^^' I love that the plants grow as the game progresses. Awesome job!

pechedodue 2020-04-21 14:01

It was very addictive, I made it until the end! Love the artwork :D

trozeman 2020-04-21 14:36

Great game! But without shortcuts after wave 20 almost impossible 😅

arcticmattekar 2020-04-21 15:31

This is a very beautiful game, I love it  I like the "take care of the plants" mechanic

riftpoint-entertainment 2020-04-21 17:07

Very cool and beautiful game! Congratulations to the team!

ponypen 2020-04-21 17:08

This is a beautiful game, the graphics are superbly done. It's a very addictive game too, I wasn't very good at it but I kept wanting to have another go!!

sami 2020-04-21 17:09

Amazing graphic style, as mentioned above shortcuts really are a must later in the game. Really solid take on a tower defense game.

vivek-sharma20 2020-04-21 17:22

hey this is the first tower defense game I played. Really cool, though it has two themes going on in same game, tower defense as well as task management. Other than that art work is really clean, audio effects are nice. Probably make tower defense challenging would up the excitement level.

ekin 2020-04-21 17:51

graphics and gameplay is awesome!! i really liked the idea! it was a little bit hard but i love it. Great work!

robowarrior1982 2020-04-22 11:23

Very nice tower defense, i like the cute graphic, and the fact to take care of the plants to keep away the insect. Good idea, it's peacefull !

papasucre 2020-04-22 13:05

A nice game with cute graphics. Being able to water several plants at the same time adds a good notion of strategy when it comes to plant placement. maybe adding shortcuts for gardening tools would make the flow more pleasant at the end of the game. Nice job tho !

kunonooni 2020-04-22 13:11

The art for the game is beautiful and stylish. I can agree with the comment about the plants being overly needy  I felt like having some keyboard commands to select the tools would have helped with that but I'm concerned if it would have made it too easy then. All in all it was a great game and I really enjoyed playing it.

lt-farfetchd 2020-04-22 13:43

This is a wonderful game, with so many cool ideas crammed into it in such a small space of time! However, I do think the game has tried to do too many things at once. I think that the upkeep idea takes away from the enjoyment of the game in the second half, because you have to spend so much time doing that, and you can't sit back and admire your wonderful plants as they crush the bug opposition. :grinning: The other major issue I had was that not giving any time between waves almost ensures that you don't have time to purchase new plants, because your time in-wave is already so busy.

But there are so many positives. The evolution mechanic is so cool, and well implemented too! The art is consistent and gorgeous, and the music is nice and relaxing (even if the game isn't always! Haha It feels like a game that is fundamentally really cool, but is just in need of some balancing to make sure it remains fun. I'd be very interested to see what this game looks like either without the upkeep mechanic, or with it reworked.

I don't usually play tower defence games, but this was actually compelling.. I think the idea of constantly having to be on your toes to give the plants what they need (water, "healing", and food) made it a lot more interesting. The only thing I'd change is keeping a tool selected after using it 9or using keyboard shortcuts like someone suggested)

trmrddr 2020-04-23 16:45

I love tower defense games, so I definitely had to play this one! The art is nice and cute, poor bugs don't stand a chance against my adorable towers. Great execution for the time we had to make our games. I have the same issues as the people above, wanting hotkeys for the tools! But overall, great submission.

sofy35 2020-04-24 08:59

Cool game, nice music, adorable ambiance and graphics ! The plants are adorable :)

As some people said above, some shorcut to change tool would have been appreciable as well as a little timer between waves ^^

the1 2020-04-24 10:41

Awesome Game! Love the graphics!

kanonix 2020-04-24 10:42

The game is really nice looking ! The music fits very well too and I played for about 15 minutes, which is a record for a game jam game ahaha (I admit that I love tower defense genre so you scored some points there ;) )

Well done nice entry !

sunti 2020-04-24 10:59

That's nice! I love the graphics and the mood, it's quite relaxing :) The only thing I'd adjust is the need for cures, it starts being quite frustrating toward the end, if you have more than 6 plants it's a continuous tool-plant clicking as the plants need for thing faster than you can provide. Maybe a slightly different mechanics could have helped with that. Overall, good job!

marbles 2020-04-24 11:20

Cute graphics! I think it is better that when you water (or use the other tools) the plant it doesn't disappear so that you don't have to click back and forth the plant and the tool (and can be cancelled by right clicking). It's not a good UX for me.

Here is mine, it's also a tower defense game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/prototype-towers

landsykes 2020-04-24 11:25

Very nice game ! I really love your art style ! The sound design is also pretty, fit perfectly with the mood of the game :) Great job !

despdair 2020-04-24 12:19

that was exhausting. pretty solid game, it could be fun to add some more flowers and maybe devices like auto water with some intervals

fatpenguin 2020-04-24 13:14

What a pretty and adoreable little game! it felt so polished! the graphics were very smooth and I didn't expirience any BUGS.. or did I? :B (Pun intended) It looks like you dedicated a lot of time and love into doing this little project and it's very noticeable! The graphics are absolutely adoreable, from the plants to the bugs to the tools and even the logo looks so so so pretty! It also felt very well balanced, and I loved the fact that you have to take care of the plants :) I noticed you were able to satisfy the needs of two plants if they're close together - which made of an interesting game mechanics, not sure if that was intended, but you could work on that - like when you water 2 plants they just get 50% satisfaction then when you water 1, but sometimes you might want to do that when you're in a hurry and there would otherwise not be enough time to save both plants? Maybe you could add an indicator for the health of the plants that looks cute and doesn*t clash with your beautiful visuals :) Good job!

kaeveris 2020-04-25 10:01

Great game with beautiful art and cute animations, I love little flowers and bugs and how the flowers looked differently when they upgraded! Cool atmosphere and easy to understand instructions. I barely finished the game (at the end I had only 1 heart), too much clicking for me XD It would be good to have some kind of auto watering especially at later levels.

Impressive jam entry! A lot of sprites (animated :astonished:), and very detailed. The gameplay gives another dimension of the usual tower defense. It's very interesting because you always have something to do, and taking care of the plants become even tactical at some point of the game!

I think it would be great to display the amount of fertilizer we left?

Very nice game, I love the flat graphical style!

noahnewline 2020-04-28 07:44

A very cohesive and polished entry! Everything works well with each other, from the mechanics, to the art, the UI, and the audio. I like how the UI and mechanics were all contextual to the world, rather than just buttons on the screen. It was fun juggling the mechanics of not only placing plants, but keeping them alive and healthy! That contributed it a lot to the theme, because not only are you to keep the shop "alive" but your plants as well. Awesome job!

tobiasw 2020-04-28 19:11

Pretty cute, impressive graphics, and the music/sfx is great too!

Like @kaeveris I also finished the game at 1 haert, although for me the progression was a bit weird - I had to restart the beginning a few times, but after I got that down, I had absolutely no problems until wave 10. In wave 10, almost everyone went through, bringing me from 19 to 1. Luckily I killed the "boss"!

The caring mechanics are interesting. I don't think I ever saw that in *any* other tower defense game. Maybe because most of the time, towers aren't living things, and having to constantly repair stuff feels worse than caring for plants? Either way, in this game more than in other TD games, clustering seems very important, so you can water/dig/fertilize whole groups at the same time.

I'm not sure how much *fun* the waterin/digging/fertiziling was in the end, to be honest. I mean, I enjoyed playing the game, but did I particularely enjoy constantly clicking between the tools and the plants? I don't really know. But despite these doubts, I think there definitely is something interesting to be found.

I have three questions as well: What does the second tower do, as opposed to the first one? And when do plants grow? And I assume it makes them stronger/faster/better?

All in all, I enjoyed playing this game and I like the original mechanics in a rather stale genre. Thanks for making it!
