LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Randomly Relentless Rumble by Frederika 2017-12-08T02:55:38Z

Neat concept! I really like what you went for, but the execution could use a little work. The platforming engine has quite a few problems, the weapon angle is a little wonky when you face backwards, and there are just some small things you could add that would add to the appeal of this game a lot, the graphics in particular. For example, a swinging animation with the melee weapons would be a great addition. This is a really nice concept though. Nice job!

Om by oxysoft 2017-12-09T04:42:14Z

The graphics are stunning. I'll just say that right now. @amras0000 hit on everything I would've thought to say; it feels like I don't have a whole lot of control over the game. There isn't much in terms of strategy besides waiting for there to be more green bricks than red bricks. Still, this game is really nice! Good job!

Carnage [ Board Game ] by Kerdelos 2017-12-07T17:46:33Z

Board game entries are rare, but this one is really good! Very unique concept and well thought out design. I had fun playing this one with a couple friends. Nice job!

Save your diamond factory by Fafnir 2017-12-08T19:09:24Z

Interesting gameplay. One of my largest complaints would be the absurdly small angle of which the turrets can shoot at. This was especially annoying at the beginning, but I ended up getting over it.

Also, it felt like the progression in the game was more forced than anything. What I mean is that I felt like there wasn't a whole lot of skill besides spam a bunch of turrets everywhere when you can. This was evident near the end of the round. The game got to the point where enemies were being spawned in all directions of all kinds, and spamming turrets was the only thing you could do until their sheer numbers overwhelmed you.

All that being said, I still enjoyed myself, this being one of the best jam games I've played so far. The graphics were pretty good, and the idea of not just a clicker game where you only have to get as much money as possible, but you must also defend your piles of wealth with turrets was a very clever idea. I rated you high on your innovation category. Don't take any of the criticisms to heart; you really have made a nice game here, and you should definitely be proud of yourself. Good job!

Greedy Ninja Thief by cerberus 2017-12-09T16:27:45Z

Cool concept! The graphics are pretty nice as well. One thing I would suggest is making the collisions with solid objects a little less weird. Otherwise, good job!

Woods and Wolverines by Juhani Koskinen 2017-12-09T20:05:00Z

Neat game! I like the music and sound effects (I got a laugh out of the voice acting). Overall I enjoyed this game, but probably the biggest issue I had was aiming the weapon. Especially with the owls, I was never able to shoot them because they were coming at the wrong angle for me to be able to turn around and shoot them. This was the biggest pitfall of the game; otherwise, I enjoyed it!

Defense 2160 BC by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2017-12-27T19:12:50Z

Really nice entry! Great art and sound effects for a compo game. My complaints are that the game is horribly unbalanced, and the turrets and such should only really fire when there isn't a wave going on; I could use a break from all the projectile sounds. I had fun though, good work!

The Steam Ocean by Anizian Games 2017-12-09T16:15:31Z

The music was the strongest point of the game. The graphics could've used a lot of work, the level design left a little to be desired, but you had strong gameplay and a solid amount of content for a jam game. Overall I did enjoy myself. Good job!

Tentagraba by Huitre 2017-12-22T15:13:18Z

Surprisingly fun! Good job! I spent a lot of time playing this. Strange, funny concept, nice use of theme.

Avalanched by Leo Sa 2017-12-09T03:49:13Z

The game doesn't seem to have any connection to the theme and is far too short. More time should've been spent on game play and levels than on graphics. This game just fell really short. But still, the graphics were pretty nice.

Party House - have a party and clean up before your parents get home! by Michal Ferko 2017-12-08T21:36:34Z

Funny game, but I feel like the connection to the theme was a little weak/forced. Nice job, though!

Chuck Norris will Make America Great Again by paulhocker 2017-12-09T03:40:50Z

Controls are wonky for the HTML5 version. In my Chrome, the left control button keeps creating a bookmark for the web page and preventing me from shooting and moving at the same time. The full-screen also has its fair share of issues.

Besides that, the concept is okay. I like what you went for here. The music is pretty good, too. Nice job

Relic Diver by tyranosaw 2017-12-08T03:40:38Z

This game is very well polished! Clearly the graphics were very well thought out, but the game gets a little slow real quick. I love the feel of the game and everything else, though. Good job!

Octopode embrace by ThiefViolinist 2017-12-06T17:17:17Z

Good looking graphics, nice use of theme, one of the major problems I had was that it was very difficult to aim the cannon. I died very quickly against enemies, making the game seem near impossible. Otherwise, nice job!

Slightly annoying traffic by JOrbits 2017-12-16T20:23:06Z

Don't totally understand why this has so many ratings. I had fun for a short amount of time, but the game is just missing so much. The graphics are pretty great, but the concept is just boring after a while. This game needs more content, and a better collision sound. I got a little laugh watching the cars slam into each other after the game ended, though. Good job!

COINS by oab 2017-12-28T15:21:04Z

Nice game! I really would've liked to see some music (and also a quieter coin sound, as those before me have already mentioned). The graphics were pretty good, but one thing I would've liked to see would be for the player to have smoother movements when moving between squares. This would've made the game look much more polished, although I understand the time restraints. Great job!

I Just Hate My Fans! by Avocadosan 2017-12-28T15:42:59Z

Pretty good entry! The graphics were a strong point of the game; you did a very good job with them!

One of my complaints is that it's basically impossible to dodge a fan. I was able to do it once, but I died right afterward. There is only one, single way to complete each level. I feel like the game would benefit from more decision making: should I use an autograph here, or should I save it for later? It felt as if there was only one answer to each level. You did keep me entertained for a good while, and I had fun! Nice job!

DvZ by TRGoodhue 2017-12-13T03:16:09Z

Nice job! I like the graphics and the style of the game. One problem I had was that death seemed inevitable after some time, as there was nowhere to go to dodge the zombies. The platforming engine had some problems too, but otherwise I enjoyed myself.

Surplus Snakes by juicy_vegetable 2017-12-10T19:25:29Z

Nicely done game! I disagree; I feel like the concept is pretty original. The graphics are adorable, the music fits really well, and I love the gameplay! Great job!

Corruption by Veralos 2017-12-09T04:05:29Z

Let me just start off by saying thank you for making your download just a plain .exe file instead of needing me to unzip a folder with only one thing in it. That really means a lot to me and I greatly appreciate it.

That aside, this game has a very neat concept, but there are some things that kinda bothered me. The enemies in the game seemed more annoying than anything, and never really posed much of a threat. The graphics were pretty nice, but the backgrounds like you said are a bit rushed-looking (can't really dock you much for that). The level design struck me as one of the strongest points of this game; much thought and testing was clearly put into the map.

Finally, I feel like this game would also benefit from some background music. That's just my opinion anyway, and I think you did a really good job!

TOO MANY CATS! by ramza 2017-12-09T17:30:45Z

Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow times a thousand

The meowing got pretty annoying after a while but the game was still funny. There wasn’t much of a point to it, but regardless I found it pretty interesting. Good job!

Globstopper by James Dunlap 2017-12-07T18:00:21Z

This game was okay. The movement at the beginning seemed a little jerky, there's no incentive to kill enemies, and it was kinda just bland. The boss at the end of the first level was impressive, though. Good job, and keep making games!

Super Consumerism Sim 2K17: GOTY Edition by EX3D0 2017-12-09T15:55:20Z

Nice, simple game with really neat graphics! I don't totally understand how this relates to the theme at all, but the graphics were pretty cool.

Except, I refuse to purchase that stone-age cell phone of yours with a home button on it.

Honey Heist by Zachary Burkett 2017-12-06T22:03:38Z

Maybe there's something I'm missing here. Why do I keep spawning off the land? I'm never able to actually get to the land where all the bees and honey are at. Also, the edges of the screen seem to be cut off. I don't know if this is my device or what, but I can't read all the instructions because of it.

From the looks and sounds of it though, this seems like a really nice game. From what I can tell the graphics are well put together and thought out, too. There's just a couple things about the game that bother me and seem to inhibit gameplay, but regardless, the effort is evident here, and I have trouble docking too many points. Good job! (and if you release a bug fix I will be coming back to give it another go)

Glow Party by jmaekgaem 2017-12-07T03:15:12Z

I don't see a download link, where is it?

EDIT: Nevermind, playing it right now, I don't know how I missed it

EDIT 2: My computer can't open your .rar file!

Bugburgh by frankiesmileshow 2017-12-08T21:54:41Z

This game is adorable! The graphics are probably the best I've seen out of this jam so far. The only complaints I have are that the controls feel really wonky, and the game is a little slow and there's no tutorial to help you figure out what you need to do. Otherwise, it's pretty impressive that you got all this together in 72 hours! Great job!

Pet Watch by Skyward 2017-12-10T04:16:14Z

Pretty cool game! I really like the phone for the outlet of the menu. The game was way too fast for me though, I ended up killing two dogs without being able to figure out what to do with them. This is still pretty neat though, good job!

Brain-Dead by Radicalest 2017-12-07T02:54:00Z

This game seems to just be missing a lot. There's no audio, the player fires absurdly fast (disrupting the balance of the entire game), and the enemies don't really do anything except charge straight into the brain. I like the concept of building defenses around the brain; I think you did a nice job with that. Also, I would suggest changing the controls so that the mouse wheel changes between items, because that would make it much faster to get out of a pinch. You have a good concept here, but you just fell a little short. Nonetheless, good job, and keep making games!

Dungeon Manager by bytekeeper 2017-12-07T20:26:25Z

I enjoyed the concept, but the crippling weight of the rapidly rising rent and upkeep was just too much. I wasn't able to keep up, and I'm not sure how to overcome it. The interface is also a little confusing at first; some tutorial in the game would be a really neat addition. You have a great concept here; I hope you decide to build upon it in the future! Good job!

The Incredible Car Salesman by Eric Florio 2017-12-07T18:11:02Z

Game starts off pretty slow, but it's a really neat concept! Very nice job; I think I'll bookmark this game and play more of it later.

Space Suckers by Patrick Woodcock 2017-12-08T22:08:26Z

Pretty nice game! This is a good, fun concept you have here. There's just a couple things missing that set it just below the mark; for example, having the ship gradually work up to top speed and down to no speed would be a really nice touch! I do like this concept though, good work!

Flowers + Bombs by justking144 2017-12-07T17:35:14Z

Looks like a really neat concept, but I don't understand the controls and the game moves really slow! I suggest exporting it to a downloadable file because that could speed it up. Also, it just needs a lot of optimization in general. From what I could tell, the graphics look nice though!

Dorm Doom by Cataractar 2017-12-28T15:30:07Z

Really good job with the graphics! I had a hard time understanding how to play the game, though. The red text didn't really help me a whole lot, and I didn't really get what I was supposed to be doing. You obviously put a lot of effort into this, and you have a very good submission! Keep working on this!

LUGO by Bonelazy 2017-12-07T20:15:32Z

Editor seems very slow, and it takes a while to make bricks, especially when I keep changing the depth and width settings and they aren't applying correctly for some reason to the new bricks I'm creating. Otherwise this is a very impressive game you have here for 72 hours. You have every right to be proud of this project; good job!

MEGA by Yetman 2017-12-07T13:22:43Z

Nice idea, but missing a lot. Graphics were pretty good, but I felt like there should be some visual effects when you hit an enemy. There's only one level that's pretty short, but otherwise I really like the concept you went for. I hope you continue building up this game and adding more levels to it. Nice job!

Anti-RPG by GoonSquad 2017-12-07T03:29:29Z

The graphics for this game were pretty nice, but there were no instructions or tutorial, leaving me confused as to what to actually do. I had trouble figuring out the point of the game; even after winning battles I kept spawning right next to the castle. The game really just needs some guidance for the player; otherwise, I think it's a nice concept.

Mine Games by danman113 2017-12-09T04:09:39Z

In general, I enjoyed playing this, but the difficulty was a little frustrating, which ended up being the reason why I stopped playing. I liked the graphics and the usage of theme; nice job!

Heartless Jump by Nanda 2017-12-09T04:21:57Z

This is a cool little game! Music is great, graphics are okay and they do everything they need to, and the concept is pretty good too. The level design was obviously very well thought-out, too. I don't have a whole lot of negative things to say about this game. Good job!

LD40 (BEAT2K) by Shivankar Sharma 2017-12-07T13:14:47Z

Not bad for your first jam. The graphics were the strongest point for this game, and everything else just kinda fell short. No tutorial or instructions, and the game kinda just begins without warning. It gets a little boring after a while; I would suggest adding new kinds of obstacles to spice it up a bit. Still, good for your first time, and keep making games!

"Savior" by AnnaAD 2017-12-09T21:04:53Z

Overall this is an alright game. I really like the graphics and the concept of the game, although the enemies took an absurd amount of bullets to kill, and there really just wasn't much feedback from the game in general (i.e. particles for when the enemies were hit or some visual effect). Nice job with everything else though, very good first entry!

Droplet by ManBeardGames 2017-12-07T03:38:09Z

Nice job! I don't have a whole lot to say; I liked the game, except it got really annoying when I tried eating someone who appeared to be slightly smaller than me, but then they ended up eating me. Also, the player grows rather slowly, making the game a little boring in drawn-out rounds. But otherwise, I like the game!

D_Sync by Ziamor 2017-12-09T04:57:17Z

Interesting game! I like the time mechanic, although it had its share of issues (player maintaining downward velocity even after backing up), I still thought it was pretty nice. Good job!

Endgame by niterich 2017-12-17T14:56:10Z

Really loved this game! Great, funny concept, though I would suggest making the standard battles a little shorter, and also implementing death would've been nice, too. Please finish this

Grim Groupies by Kramdar 2017-12-08T22:01:57Z

Good game, but just kept dying over and over again against this seemingly unstoppable band of archers who I couldn't reach. A tutorial would be nice as well. This is a decent game though, I really like the concept, good job!

Finally done :D by Tomas.2D 2017-12-09T17:09:10Z

Like everyone else has already said, please consider rating other people's games before you ask them to rate your own. Carry your weight.

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-06T21:41:16Z

Thank you so much for your feedback everybody! As I write this, I'm uploading a quick bug fix to address some issues that I found in the game. Details can be found in the description. Once again, thank you!

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-08T02:24:52Z

Thank you for your feedback everybody! @DarkSamus9000, this was made in GameMaker

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-09T03:32:40Z

@kingmatthew, your health decreases when you pick up ammo because the theme is "The more you have, the worse it is," so it makes the game more difficult if you grab more ammunition.

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-10T17:24:06Z

@pcmxms Thank you for your feedback and letting me know about the reconfiguration bug for HTML5. I'll look into that!

EDIT: What exactly are you experiencing that is wrong with it?

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-10T17:29:51Z

@pcmxms Ah, I see what you mean. Thank you for letting me know, I'll be releasing a fix for that shortly!

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-10T19:14:15Z

Thank you everybody for your feedback and helping us reach 35 ratings! You guys rock! I just released another version of the game, fixing and tweaking a few larger and smaller bugs, and adding difficulty modes for those who thought the game was a little too hard. If you previously played the HTML5 version and the changes aren't being applied, clear the cache by holding down CTRL and pressing reload in the browser.

Armed Descent by Acr515 2017-12-19T17:20:11Z

@niterich Thank you for your feedback! I agree with a lot of the things you said. I found the best strategy to be to knock off the enemies one at a time whenever possible (and it wasn't always, particularly in the third level which I could've assembled better like you said). Because I was so strapped for time during the jam, I was unable to get any feedback from other people as a result of my inability to, in a timely manner, build the file and send it to a friend who was willing and had time to test it.

I did also consider adding a melee weapon, but I barely even got the game out; I made the last 2 levels without even testing them because I was running out of time. If this game continues to evolve I will make it a priority to add that.

Also, thank you for bringing that error to my attention. I'll be looking into it as soon as I can!

You Are Overencumbered by Christian Murphy 2017-12-06T20:31:30Z

Where's the download link?

POLAMI by Faloon 2017-12-09T04:48:34Z

Nice work! The concept was pretty good, but the graphics could've used a little more work.

BirdBrain by CosmicCrystalGames 2017-12-09T04:29:11Z

A very nice, polished game with good graphics and sound, but in all honesty, the controls were infuriating. I just couldn't get the bird where I needed him to get to because the controls were so weird, and you can't walk around while grounded. Also, the tutorial was confusing and went by incredibly fast before I had a time to read it all.

I loved the concept and the graphics, though. This is a very well-polished game in that regard! Good job!

Escape Earth by loesch94 2017-12-09T18:11:42Z

Nice job on this game! Although, a couple complaints I have is that there isn't a whole lot of strategy to the game; the player's skill has little effect on how many passengers they can take. Also, the sound effects are a little annoying. The concept is great, and I really like the background transition from sky to space. Nice work!

Robot Run by Zone-0 2017-12-06T20:40:27Z

This game is just missing so much. There's no title screen, and the game kicks you out after you lose (and it also begins without warning), so the player is forced to constantly reopen the executable over and over again. It's a nice idea, and the background graphic is pretty neat, but there just isn't much in terms of gameplay and interface.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Effigies by Geckoo1337 2018-12-10T18:55:51Z

Holy cow that was really hard...

I really liked your concept. The level design was great, and the core mechanics were solid. My only criticism of the core of your game was the moving blocks. It seemed to confuse your concept a little bit (a game this difficult shouldn't confuse me with moving objects in addition to the already static ones). Also, I felt like your audio didn't all gel together, but this wouldn't be a very hard thing to fix.

Great job with your game!

Neon Tank Warrior by wolar 2018-12-11T04:00:31Z

Nice game! The graphical style you went for really stood out to me, and I liked your interpretation of the theme; solid, and not distracting from the core concept of your game. Two of my criticisms are that I feel like the tank should have more health OR there should be less bullets (either that, or I suck at these games :/), and that I feel the path to the end of the game should be a bit more straight-forward. All the dead-ends I found were a bit irritating. I really like the rest of the game though, and you executed it marvelously. Great job!

Together by beta 2018-12-10T18:43:19Z

This isn't a game if you're looking for a game experience, but still sorta fun if you just wanna draw for a bit. Presentation was well done, you fit the theme okay, but the music got a little monotonous after a while. Nice job!

The best sacrifice by Rodrigo Denúbila 2018-12-11T03:37:02Z

Great concept! It had to have been difficult to put this entire 3D game together during the 72 hours, but you executed it spectacularly. My two minor gameplay complaints were the view sensitivity being too high for my liking, and the fact that the single sacrificing tower was difficult to get up, since half the map was trying to do the same thing. Also, I think that some visual feedback on physical strikes would really enhance the experience, but I haven't got any other criticisms. Fantastic job, I had a lot of fun!

Fist of Wrath by vlandemart 2018-12-06T18:40:49Z

Interesting little game! It took me a little while to grasp the strategy, but I was eventually able to power through all the levels (sometimes the humans stood in a line and never moved...) My one suggestion would be to make the damaging concept a little more interesting. I felt helpless when enough fire towers showed up to blow right through my health bar, and there wasn't really anything I could do about it. Instead, I would make it so that A. fireballs only damage you when they hit you, B. make fire towers show up more frequently, and C. add in another form of damaging, such as the villagers lobbing arrows at you as the game goes on.

Nice job with your entry!

BloodTrail by kruemelkeksfan 2018-12-11T03:46:44Z

Very interesting RPG game! It comes very close to being a polished product; it mostly needs some audio, diversity in battle options, and a little more player direction (no tutorial left me a bit confused in-game). Nice job!

Documentia by Pandanym 2019-01-30T04:00:51Z

Dear god that was clever. I wish I had seen this during voting... Your game is simply incredible. I did end up finding the name. I felt great resolve. Everything was spot-on; you nailed the audio, the mood, the graphics, and just about everything I can think of. You should be very proud of this game!

Little Kingdom by tulipekoni 2018-12-05T19:12:42Z

This is one of the first games that I've played so far that's felt relatively polished compared to other entries. The music is pretty nice, and the graphics are great too.

The gameplay was a little annoying for a couple reasons. My camps and towns would all repeatedly have ludicrously expensive requests one after another, and I wasn't able to keep up while maintaining a profit. I didn't completely get why a camp would drive its income rate through the roof before destroying your kingdom, but it did help in me making money. Also, I felt like I should be able to build bridges to preexisting amenities. Nothing was more annoying than a camp wanting a fence when there was a fence directly adjacent to it. There's also a bug where to buy a small town I had to click on the medium town icon.

I also thought some GUI interaction sounds would've improved the game a lot.

This is all very fixable, though. Good job on a great game!

Bummed OUT! by boyTurnedRobot 2018-12-05T00:57:23Z

Neat little game! The graphic scheme grew on me as I continued to play the game; it was dark and it fit the mood of your game well, as well as complementing the music.

The control scheme flowed well, however I didn't have as much control over the player's aim as I would have liked to. Otherwise, I had fun. Good job!

I Am Bird by Acr515 2018-12-05T18:37:17Z

Thank you everybody for your feedback!

@ternarycat, thanks for telling me about the background, I'll definitely take note of that. Could you tell me more about what you thought of the gameplay itself?

I Am Bird by Acr515 2018-12-12T03:16:10Z

Thanks everyone again for all the feedback! It is greatly appreciated, and I do take all of it into account!

I agree, @stevie-bushman. My primary intent was to make a rapid-fire bird without making the game too easy... but I nerfed their seeds too much compared to the other birds. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Creatures of the Night by Gizmolo 2018-12-11T03:54:08Z

Neat little game! I agree with Flatgub in that sometimes I felt I didn't have enough skeletons to fend off the knights. I thought the art style you went for was executed well, and you did a nice job!

Charming's Sacrifices by Colletto Gregory 2018-12-11T01:43:31Z

Sadly, I didn't really understand what was happening the whole time. I think adding a health bar to the enemies would make the game in general much clearer. I did really like the graphics though; they looked very nice! Good job!

Just delete them by Dock Frankenstein 2018-12-10T19:11:10Z

The concept is great! But the execution could use a little work.

The graphics seemed to lack much cohesion in their simplicity and style. Also, the music was relatively annoying throughout the game. I also had the black screen as Player 2 did, but I never would've known to turn the music up. The lack of any GUI and limited user support was what really made the execution fall flat. This among other things would really bolster your game, and it would make it miles better and into a great final product. Nice job! (You're also my first 5-stars for innovation)

Do It for Their Sake by SuperGamersGames 2018-12-10T04:14:53Z

Nice game for your first!

I'm going to second a lot of what other before me have said in saying that A. having to learn on my own that diagonal movement is possible was a little annoying, and B. having slow-travelling bullets undermines the fundamental concept of your game. I also think this game could use some background music; it would really add to the overall mood of the game.

I liked the graphics; they definitely did what they needed to, but I didn't care for the font you used for the move counter/end dialogue (I saw you're using GameMaker- I'm not sure what font you're using or how you're using it, but if you have a font resource in your tree then toggle anti-aliasing to OFF or 0, and turn high quality off. This'll make the font gel with the style of your game nicely!) I did manage to clear every level, and I really liked the level design and the gameplay in general. Personally, I'm not great at designing puzzle games, but you did a very good job! Your theme interpretation is great too, and it's the first one I've given 5-stars for. Nice job!

Nice game! The graphics were great and left nothing to be desired. Your levels were designed pretty well too. The audio worked, but it became sorta repetitive as the game dragged on. One of my main criticisms of your core gameplay is that it wasn't always immediately obvious to me what event was happening (player death, clearing a level), or what an object's purpose is (didn't completely understand the cooking pot at first or see the spikes that killed me multiple times). These are definitely small issues, and didn't overall impact how I rated your game with any significance. Great job!

The God Of Adventurers by Lucille Blumire 2020-04-22T16:26:02Z

This was a pretty interesting game! I don't particularly love the lose condition, though; only one of my villagers got bored and the whole game ended. I feel like there should be some kind of bar showing overall satisfaction that only has the ability to fall within a certain threshold before failing the player. That would also make it a lot easier to regulate everybody's status, since with all the bars on the screen right now, it's a little difficult.

The chat log on the side of the screen also didn't do a whole lot for me. I mostly ignored it just so I could meet the needs of the villagers. The visual aesthetic of the game besides the chat log was well done, and everything seemed like it fit together pretty well. I also appreciated the little music changer you added in there! Great job with this game!

Nice game! The randomly generated levels were always pretty seamless while I was playing, so you did a good job with that. You also did a good job putting together the mood for this game, and the randomized upgrades made things pretty interesting.

One thing I'll add, though, is that there wasn't really any incentive for me to explore deeper into the level. In fact, I was better off camping right outside the altar surrounded by chests just so that I always had a supply of income and health packs. Maybe you could make the upgrades slowly increase in price and make the gold reward higher as you move further from the altar, making it vital to gameplay to go deeper into the level in order to continue to improve your character. Also, the teleporting enemies were a little annoying. If I'm not paying very careful attention to them then they'll teleport right on top of me and do unavoidable damage.

Overall I really enjoyed your game and I spent a lot of time playing it. Great work!

Interesting game! Would've liked to see more levels or something like that but it's pretty clear you poured a lot of work into this alone. The bear graphic was... interesting to say the least, but it was pretty fun watching him feast on my workers. Good job!

Like many others here I liked the atmosphere of the game and how the music added to it. I also had trouble playing the game itself, though. It took me a very long time to realize that I was supposed to make a connection FROM the source of the food itself to actually be able to send food down the links. From a user experience standpoint, I'd recommend making this particular connection two-way. It also seemed to be random which pieces of food went which ways, which made it seem impossible to control what food goes to the fireflies and what food goes to the end of the level.

Overall, with these fixes accounted for, you would have a pretty good game. Good job!

We appreciate your feedback everyone, and we're glad you enjoyed our game!

@jackcaunter I did all the graphics, SFX, and user interface programming, while @Epicular programmed everything else and worked on the design of the game mechanics.

Interesting concept, although the connection to the theme is pretty weak at best. If you had more time to develop this then I could see it being a pretty good game! Maybe if you fail to guess correctly the first time, more suspects appear and the plot twists even further. For 48 hours, though, nice job!

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-05-10T21:19:01Z

Great game!

I'm not reading over everyone's responses so some of this stuff may be repeated:

- Really good job with graphics! I really liked the color changing background; I felt that it showed off your attention to detail. One thing I might recommend, though, is some sort of tween or interframe between your motions and the mouse's motions. While I think that it's necessary from a gameplay perspective for motion to be instantaneous in an infinite runner, I think it would vastly improve the feel of the game. I noticed you made the cheese leave a skid mark whenever it moved to another column, but I think that a constant trail of cheese behind the player would suffice for making the transitions seem smoother.

- I didn't have much problem with the controls or how the game felt. It all felt pretty responsive when paired with the audio and visual effects. Good job!

- Some of the audio didn't really gel with the background music in my opinion. It seemed like there were two different styles, one of which was 8-bit and the other which seemed fragmented from it with the more realistic sound effects you used. If you found some way to merge the two I would've given you a full 5 stars for audio.

- More powerups!

Nice job with your entry!
