Fun concept, you nailed the theme.

Fun concept, you nailed the theme.
The idea is good, and the game easy and fun to play. The graphics is okay. The music was really good. The best part of the game was the aliens that try to drag down the UFO. Overall a fun LD game. Well done.
The music was really good! I can't figure out what the missles were for, they just pass through the aliens. Needs WASD controls, in addition to arrows.
I rocked the space bar to victory but you can do the same in our jam.... so kudos :) fun stuff, great take on the theme and getting music and polish was the cherry on top, well done! next go I'd keep doing what you're doing and spend a few more hours on art/ graphics - cheers
Pretty nice game! This is a good, fun concept you have here. There's just a couple things missing that set it just below the mark; for example, having the ship gradually work up to top speed and down to no speed would be a really nice touch! I do like this concept though, good work!
Nice shmup concept
Very well tuned I thought. I got a kick out of dropping the monsters in the black holes.
This is great! Really unique art style, simple but challenging gameplay. Nice work.
Great game! It took me a while to figure out how to use the missiles and that I only needed them to win. Those poor innocent people that I ignored ...
Maybe a progress bar telling you how much there is left of the level would be a nice addition. Good work! The audio really made the game satisfying.
Was suprised the rockets weren't stopped by the black holes. Classic game mechanic and nice graphics though.
This completely reversed my expectations. Seemed like a bog-standard side scrolling shooter, but no, no, no, that is not the case. Black holes, hitch-hiking aliens, push-back rockets, it is a novel mix and it works well. Had fun playing through the 5 levels. They are short and sweet, but no cakewalk.
The graphics are good overall with a few blemishes: the background is a simple gradient and as a result boring, parallax scrolling would work great here; the sprite outlines aren't uniformly thick due to scaling which looks somewhat cheap. The audio is good too, some of the sound effects are muffled though.
Found a few bugs in the programming. Sometimes the ship can get stuck in a black hole with an alien, meaning they won't get sucked in at all. The aliens aren't pushed back by the rocket explosion if they are following you either, which is annoying.
Designwise there is only one thing I would change. Currently it is very beneficial to continually shoot rockets and keep pushing aliens back off the screen even if there are no black holes present. To reduce the effectiveness of this strategy you could make the humans susceptible to explosions too. They could be pushed back similar to the aliens or simply die outright. The radius of the explosions would need to be smaller for this to work though.
Really enjoyed this one, positive surprises are always nice.
Overall: Great (4.5) Fun: Good (4.0) Innovation: Brilliant (5.0) Theme: Great (4.5) Graphics: Good (4.0) Audio: Good (4.0) Humor: Brilliant (5.0) Mood: Above average (3.5)
@huvaakoodia Thanks for such a detailed review of my game.
Game is pretty addictive and fun. I like the idea with throwing aliens into the black holes. Also the music fits the style perfectly and animation is funny ;) Good luck!
This was so much fun. The visual variety was pretty impressive. seeing a variety of aliens was really nice, and the structures on the ground add quite a bit of challenge to flying the ship around
Wow, what a nice little game. Like others, I took it for a generic side scrolling shooter and was positively surprised. I don't remember seeing anything like this hitchhiking aliens + black holes mechanics before, but even if I am mistaken it was brilliant. Played it two times, since I took some levels to figure out completely the mechanics and understand who I had to save and once I did it was really fun.
Sometimes the explosion push back won't work, like when the aliens are behind you, but overall it seemed to work smoothly.
Graphics are just above average (and well more complex than mine) and the variety is nice, could just have more polish to attract players in a future release since the first look seems to be often misguided. Sound is also okay (I particularly like the black holes) but could be improved.
Very nice work. =]
I like this game! The hitchhiking idea is quite novel (but killing aliens just because they want to hitch hike seem to be too violent...) and well reflects the theme. Games looks very well polished for only 72 hours. Controls are very smooth and comfortable.
It is a bit strange that number of saved human resets to zero when you fail a level (all people saved from previous levels are gone). It made me less motivated to even try to save them and during the later levels I was basically just avoiding the aliens and getting through the level.
The music is superb! Overall a great entry!
My high score was 87! nice concept, though the aliens couldn't be repelled if they started chasing you and the only way was by getting near the black hole. Collecting crew members were not that possible when the trees and buildings got very big. Perhaps if the missiles could repel the aliens on you or if you had to use the missles to get more stuff out of the way. Keep up the good work!
Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdHqgfn9vOI
