Well, I'm severely in debt now. I wish it told me what my "high score" was at the end. Sprites were nice. The purchase sound is super loud. I'm not sure exactly why it's worse for me to spend more or to have more, except that I'm accruing debt. Some kind of goal would be nice, even if it's just told to me through text.
Simple but well made game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUur4iynK94
A fun little game - I like the pixel art!
The gameplay is simple, but could be expanded upon. Possible expansions could be to make the items swich places randomly. Another suggestion could be to apply a "bonus" (extra cost...) for buying items in a specific order (which then changes).
I agree with @handle that the high score should definitely be displayed at the end screen!
Kudos for using LibGDX!
*I'm sure I'll recoup my losses when I sell all those bitcoins! And lava lamps, those are also a safe investment... right?!*
>Friends! Do not partake! >In rampant consumerism! >That's... OH! SMARTPHONE! *DING!*
Bitcoin prices could increase each time you play lolol. Fun little game for sure
Nice entry! pixel art is just great (especially the lava lamp ;))) )and the music fits in very well! Thank you for participating :)!
A well balanced game, into graphics, musics, and gameplay. Maybe some of the sound effects could be lowered a little, but it's a compo game and I understand how hard it is to make everything fit and works in 48h. So good job, compo fella !
Edit : It's maybe not taht important but if you clicked the option "Downloadable free game" on itch io ,I think you'll get more downloads. That's because i'm a lazy fuck but I can be easily demotivated by those kind of things, even if it's 2 clicks :P
Very simple little game, but I don't see a point in purchasing anything
Nice, simple game with really neat graphics! I don't totally understand how this relates to the theme at all, but the graphics were pretty cool.
Except, I refuse to purchase that stone-age cell phone of yours with a home button on it.
Very simple game, can't say that I was entertained unfortunately. Just buying stuff with no goal is too simple and I think you could expand on this.
The audio and the art were really nice though :)
Its quite fun, despite having no real goal. The graphics and sounds are nice, however i dont see how its related to the theme. The lava lamps seems to be going a tad bit too fast and also is too cheap. Real, quality lava lamps cost at least 5k, please fix this immidiatly.
I like games with themes that comment on society, so I like this one. It reminds me a bit of the brainless games my kids play sometimes, where the goal is just to upgrade stuff. The pixel art is good. The gameplay is lacking, but it's more fun than I'd expect. Just like Cookie Clicker. The audio is the weakest part. Try recording sounds instead, that's what I do. :-)
Glad that I can buy Bitcoins. :D It would be better if I got different messages concerning how much I've spent (or am I in debt). Without that, I can't really see how the theme comes across – having too many lava lamps and TVs really make things worse; but then you can simply not spend your money and keep it for the future, and I don't really see any downside of that. Buying Bitcoin also only makes things the better – unless you buy more than you can risk to lose, or in case BTC value falls down at an extreme rate, but it is not hinted in the game. Although I see you wanted to bring attention to the downsides of consumerism. Nice pixel graphics and background music. Great work! :)
