I love what you did with theme. That's pretty clever! It's a bit short but funny game with great animations and nice graphics. The tutorial does not account for people who don't use gamepad, fortunately it's possible to play with keyboard. Camera movement on the attack should be a little smoother, now feels weird. Beside this, Great job!

Rather nice game. The art in nice and simple, the concept is incredible easy to figure out.

Love the art style. Some sounds are too loud and too sharp for the mostly silent game (those roaring sword guys must really hate their king, roaring like that, wow).

Sadly game ends shortly after presenting all mechanics, I wouldn't mind playing a bit more. Runner is a genre which can benefit from a bit of repetitiveness, so seeing enemies and jumps in a different combinations for a couple of another minutes would be nice. Not bad at all, thanks for the game!

The sword guys are berserkers. I think anger is just their 'thing'.

The starting animation is really nice! Very fun runner, love the fact that you learn the mechanichs on the go.

For some reason, it crashes every time I die :(

bartol44 2017-08-02 19:18

I'm a little surprised it's so short, it seemed to me that adding square here, and enemy there isn't that time consuming. Great interpretation of the theme though. Style is also something to admire.

Hmm on my system I had some serious performance issues, this was particularly anoying for the last part were you have an archer inmediately after a swordman and the game would just not take the input to jump quickly enough. otherwise this was actually a good game, took me a long while to realize the icons were meant to be controller inputs, the art was super nice

filippy 2017-08-02 20:18

Also please comfirm it is an umbrella, I need to know

galan 2017-08-02 21:35

Thanks @filipy, and sorry you had performance issues. Sadly, it's supposed to be a magic sword, but you aren't the first person to think it's an umbrella. I'd say at this point it's a valid interpretation.

Love the art style and cutout kinda characters

rodobodolfo 2017-08-03 03:29

loved it! i great to have gamepad support otb aswell. really really loved the art and the gameplay is good, a shame that is so short. I'd definetly like to see more of this

zessirb 2017-08-03 15:45

It's a simple and easily enjoyable gameplay, I liked it ; on my windows, i had 2 crashes while playing + 1 at the end of the game ; is this because of Godot ?

albuixech 2017-08-03 16:25

Simple, straight forward and well defined mechanics. Great, it is hard to find it in a game jam, but you made it! The two archers made me restart it several times lmao.

galan 2017-08-03 18:14

@zessirb I thought it was just because I was using the 3.0 alpha, but after some testing, it seems like it might just be the 32-bit version. I've put up a 64-bit version that *appears* to have fixed it.

Hey !

Pretty cool game. Very original graphics ! The animations were pretty neat aswell. However, I did suffer a lot of framedrops at times, but that might be my PC. I'd say the gameplay could be hugely improved by allowing you to jump at anytime after starting an attack, handy if there is an archer right after a melee guy.

Had to go into the terminal to try to launch this in Linux. Maybe remove the .bin extention? Also the game wouldn't run as is: "error while loading shared libraries: libasound.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

nekusoul 2017-08-04 18:15

Surprisingly neat animations and art style. Also thanks for the frequent checkpoints.

One thing I'd improve is toning down the background color a bit. Everything appeared in red even after I've closed the game. ;D

zirrrus 2017-08-04 18:41

Very short but also very sweet! It has a great art style and the gameplay is very solid. Especially the later encounters actually ended up being a lot more about strategy than dexterity, thanks to the very frequent(and very much appreciated) checkpoints.

When I started it up there were a bunch of error messages in the little console window, it ran without issues though.

michael-feldman 2017-08-04 18:57

I like the simple, flat art style. You kept with it and it works. The attention to detail is what helps sell it IMO. So much fun playing it, I nearly got in the proverbial 'zone' while refining my timing, etc. Great job.

-Nice and atmospheric.

-It lags on some moments.

-Theme included only in narrative, not in game mechanics

Challenging game, but good art style! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiayEbHjWUc
