LD49 — Unstable

As I mentioned earlier to you, cool idea. The theme was hard thistime, I totally agree with you and we also had issues to come up with something fun. I Rated it and hope you'll receive a lot more ratings.

Bullet Hellements by Fiote 2021-10-08T07:41:33Z

Played the game and it was a cool idea. It took a while to get used to the mechanics.

I think the bigest improvement would be the hud. As there are 4 bars to keep track of, it's detracting a bit from the action. Some visual feedback when you are unstable / overloaded with different visual cues (e.g. hud is blinking, or some effect around it, or like the blood vignettes in egoshoopters once you took damage if you are in unstable/overloaded state) and sound cues maybe would help the action, as you sometimes don't know exactly when you change your state and you just need to look too closely at the numbers.

Aside from that it's been great fun.

Tower of Thoughts by Erukolindo 2021-10-05T08:12:09Z

Really liked the idea, but couldn' tmake anything spawn from the letters. I was capapble to reach the top of the firs tlevel by just building osme kind of platforms withthe letters, but also did not know why some where turning gold at the holes or how to fix the holes. SO I was confused, but I think the mechanics could lead to a lot of interesting ideas further down the road.

Earthquake City Builder by JM Studio 2021-10-06T13:53:06Z

It's a cool game, however balancing is utterly broken. The villa by far is the best building, as it comes with a lot of stability (which is the most important) and still has twice the amount of money production as the normal house with 1.5 space cost.

Basically you can cheese the whole game super easil by building normal houses in all 4 coreners in the map until you can afford the first villas (this will at least keep 1 of them nearly each round complete) and then just build villas. YOu need to research the last upgrade first and then progressively all structure updates - as earthquakes shift anyways every round, both the magnitude and position is nice to know but only cost research points.

The bank with a +10% gain in money, but weak structure, costs too much to repair and the universit yis rathe rpointless, as after about 30 round sther eis nothing left to research.

Tha tbeing said it's a lovely idea and I enjoyed the whole game. Howeve rI'd rather like to have science calculate don overall inhabitants and rebalance the villas down to less inhabitants and the big (instable blocks) to a lot more inhabitants. THer ealso should be a way to spend mor escience later on.

I understand that it's a quickly developed gamejam game, and that everybody has to do as much as time allows, but if you consider further developing this, the feedback mainly helps.

Destructo by JPGFG 2021-10-13T17:36:13Z

Great Game. Really cool that you could get something like this going in the time. It's a great base for enhancing it further and could get good with more work being put in.

Sometimes I did not really know why I died, I also have not really understood when enemies attacked me. I think some animations would add a ton. Also sometimes you would not be able to reach the end as the floor breaks away. Even if the move teleports you, sometimes the gap is too big, but i think some kind of retry instead of death would be awesome for this. Also I don't know exactly how exp / gold worked as sometimes I killed enemies but did not have more resources in the shop at the end

I think adding some more terrain tiles would be a very senseful enhancements as it could greatly change up your route. But again, great work for the time put in.

Panelka's Fall! by Kyrylo Kalienich 2021-10-05T08:20:50Z

This one was pretty fun. Liked the little scream when you misplaced a building block and music did fit well. Only design issue is that sometimes you are tearing down more than 1 block and then you immeditely die, despite having 3 health (3 misplaces).

PLOUF! by mlho7 2022-04-05T22:46:10Z

It's a good captain. But where is the hidden shotgun to kill that nasty bird, so acid is splottering all over your boat killing you in an instant ? ^^

Great work, fun little entry. The artstyle is really creative.

Feast or Famine by ColinBellino 2022-04-05T12:54:02Z

Awesome job, colin& team. Felt a lot like Isaac. It's fun how yoyu need to strategically think how to dispatch enemies quickly and without taking much damage.

Tile Sparce by MusicBlox 2022-04-06T00:11:27Z

It's a nice game but quite easy to figure out. keeping a lot of arrows back with the shields, strategically using crystals in some lanes to make them disappear, the pushing is rather useless, as you don't want the arrows to go away from the first line, so new ones behind them can't spawn in. Was a pretty fun idea, would need more options and more happening though (maybe some specific gameplay changers, think of stars in super mario) to stay interesting for more than the time you need to figure out the best strategy.

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-06T21:13:32Z

Fun and good looking game. Liked for the second try that i had to go onthe tracks, before I realized there wa sa map pretty much exactly solving the challenge for you, i think it'd have been way more fun without a map and just trying. I think the theme was captured really well. Cool entry!

Horde of Methuselah by mrjeremy 2022-04-05T23:38:08Z

This is a very interesting concept and I enjoyed the game a great deal. Got a lot of feedback, not bc. the game is bad, rathe rbc. I played quite a while and thought it's good.

Food is by far the most important ressource, as if it runs out everything comes to a halt. Effectively food shortage can kill you, if all your lumberjacks or miners die and you can't make a comeback, if you don't have enough resources.

I think it's bad that you can't remove buildings, with a slow and methodical approach this would be very necessary, as you can't really reposition anything except if the zombies kill it.

I also think it's bad that the amount of zombies is just rising and they literally don't move, as it means late rin the game you are only spamming barracks with the hope they kill off the zombies unless... you build shelters, as they pretty much kill the zombies.

Also if the zombie tikck is high, it really starts on the processor, it's a quite calculation heavy game and might need some optimization, especially in the areas where no zombies are anyways close, calculations probably could be driven back a lot.

Also the algorithm creating the map would need some check if there are zombies which can't be reached, as the game can't be completed.

And I think it's also a bit to motion heavy to always select a new building after placing one, as there ar enot hotkeys.

Moving around the map maybe also should work with rightclick holding.

That's all I can think of, really happy that I stumble dove rit. Loved the concept.

Hearts Ablaze by Jon Topielski 2022-04-06T21:03:21Z

Really cool entry. I survived something like 15seconds to 90 seconds, so ti's an incredibly fast game. I was wondering if scattering collectables, which give you a lil bit of health would make the game longer, while still keeping you in motion - if well balanced this might be cool. I also really enjoyed the art. I especially loved the heart graphic, which felt a lot like from amiga games, while the rest of the game felt more flat shaded. While I really like the heart, I wondered if a more similar artstyle for it, than for the rest of the game might be better. Anyways, cool thing you got going, it's one of those games for which a ton could be added post jam.

The Assessment by Okamit 2022-04-05T22:14:42Z

Loved the Intro, really great music and sound design. Reminded me a lot of Wario Ware. The transition between minigames could be way faster, as the sequencing took always equally long as playing a game, aside from that great job throughout.

Panic by woahitsjeff 2022-04-05T22:21:35Z

The theme is really well handled and it's cool that you built in a tutorial and super easy to just pick up and play.

The controls were super sensitive, so moving the mouse just a tiny bit made you spin around. The camera seems a bit to high for the human characters, as you feel like a giant and the other people relatively small. Maybe it would be an idea to re-evaluate the motif of picking up and delivering items could be something that supports the theme / game name a bit more. Nice work overall.

Fresh From The Oven by KobaHawk 2022-04-05T22:41:06Z

THis was a pretty great game. THe interpretation of the theme is excellent. After 5 tressful minutes I fear the cake would be so full of bacteria that noone wants to eat it, but still I feel betrayed that there is no coffe & cake graphics, telling you how well you did.
