Oh this is great, I love it. Simple and not anything technically impressive but this flavor of absurd storytelling is really fun and the downsampled, choppy, collage-like art is very well executed.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD59 → Signals of God

I think this game scene has some artistic and philosophical traits in it.... love the bit style....astonished by the idea of replacing skeleton head by the satellite dish, creepy yet intriguing. everything looks fabulous and metaphorical, enjoying the concept....
I like the first impression, but abstained from voting for now as I seem to be missing something.
It's easy enough to find the baboon's signal (and God's), but I'm unsure what to do with them as the only thing that I seem to be able to actually interact with is the eye (if it doesn't wander off screen). I assume I have to do something when the signal is the strongest, but I have no idea what 🤔
@arnage hey! You can move using WASD, I totally forgot to put arrow keys for the movement as well...
very atmospheric, I love it! quite funny and polished. thank you for the experience!
很有意思的机制和风格!不过这个猴子叫实在有点精神污染T T
I could've sworn I played another game you made last Ludum Dare about collecting organs from zombies? Anyway this game was great and I love your writing, it has a feel like Mike Klubnika and How Fish Is Made and you have a great artistic voice. Hope you continue doing game jams cause I wanna play your other stuff!
Nice style of art and concept of designing! But maybe a little bit lack of guide...? Because I was really confused at first()
Lol, that makes a lot more sense, thanks for putting that into the description for jam-induced sleep-deprived people like me :)
Managed to reach the end now and rated the game. Great absurdist styling and writing in this one!
While the gameplay isn't much to write home about, the absurd style and world kept me engaged the whole time. I adored the sound design, story, characters and the strange humor presented throughout. The dialogue sounds were especially satisfying to me! Overall this is a fantastic entry, I loved it and I hope you continue to explore this style.
I wished the gameplay had a bit more to it but the story and atmosphere kept my intrigue. I don't know what all of this meant but I appreciate the wackiness.
Interesting art style. Atmospheric. If you play for long enough, you'll fall under the influence of a slight madness.
I really liked the signal system and the sound design, great job !
This is so good, I'm so impressed. I adore the world you created, the atmosphere is so incredibly strong. Really well done.
It’s so simple, so stylish, and so engaging. Wow!
It was funny, a fun game.
Super unique concept, really interesting
This game was absolutely beautiful in my opinion. It was wonderfully crafted and your story was conveyed beautifully. The asset work here is also commendable and the real life footage really jarred me (in a good way). Amazing work overall!
I really liked this, completely off beat and unexpected and balanced a nice line between humour and making the player feel uncomfortable with a sense of unknowing dread as you progress. Simple idea but great story execution, colour palette was solid and consistent too!
I really love the mood of this game, very creative! And the dialogs are top notch! Very good entry
This game is so scary and i can't stop playing it amazes me every moment!
Interesting style and story. Could use some keys info, I thought u just use the mouse at the start. The signals sound like signals with all the interruption. Good job!
i like the atmosphere, it's strange and stylish)
there the game you play because you want to give rating and get some back, and there the game you want to stay in and keep exploring. I think this entry is incredible, made me laugh, but wasn't always at ease, i wanted to see what the next thing would be, and it fit the them nicely, great entry !
Love it! Great job :)
Somehow I failed at getting to trashbot, I could not get closer than 4m. Maybe I missed something. I love these kind of games in jams - the stuff you wouldn't get in the stores! Good job.
A very atmospheric game — it feels like a mix of VHS horror and fever dreams at 39°C. Really cool!
I loved the sound of the king baboon, and the art is intriguing. My only problem was that I found God, but I didn't understand anything... Well, it must be like real life. Good Game!
It seems like we’ve found a winner. Everything in this game is excellent — the organ music, the cries of the monkey, the visual style, and the atmosphere. I truly love it
@ranarh yeah i ofc put the hardest navigation problem as the first one because i had no time to playtest... you need to go around from the right side. Thanks for the comment!
Great idea, amazing graphics design!
what an absurd game! loved the surrealistic feel of it. Also F1 secret? ;)
@kazuren thanks! And uh.. i totally didnt forget to disable my debug controls and have no idea what f1 even does rn so yeahh lets call it a secret
That was actually super wicked! I love the collage artstyle.
The ending really makes you think fr fr.
Absolutely loved how unhinged this was. Superb atmosphere, and visuals are really cool. The walking part felt just a tiny bit tedious, but I think it was rather fitting pacing overall. Having to go around for trashbot was maybe the only one confusing bit. Overall great work!!
Funniest one so far, and the surreal visuals were super fun, love it
Got your nose ! The mood was incredible, I will be pondering the wisdom of the Baboon King for the next few weeks. Great entry !
It's literally just a fucking stone tablet
What the frick did I actually just play, this is the most symbolic loaded game I've seen with so many things that make no sense in the best way imaginable. Okay, I just gotta rattle this off before I get to my praises. Who was that bamboo king? am i hallucinating or did we cut off the LEFT arm of the last sinner before taking god's RIGHT arm? why was god's left hand in the stomach of the beast? was it cause humanity died because of nuclear weapons, and the beast was "full" of all of humanitie's deaths and vices? Was there a NUCLEAR WAR?? why was the slug tied with the quote "god made man in his image" (paraphrasing in game)?? What was with the no sleeping mask thing?? Stone tablet????? Also why is it when we tried getting closer to god, we fell in the pit, only getting farther and farther away?? HUH????
I need to know what drugs you used while making this cause I NEED that stuff. Holy cow, mechanics are simple, story is narratively mysteries (not confusing), the art is just something else I can not describe it other than pure horror and peak. The audio was aggressive (in a good way, lol, except for the monkey he was OBNOXIOUS). like what? Genuinely gonna be thinking about this game cause of how much I loved it, holy cow. Fantastic job on an amazing piece that came out of no where.
What is this is this what the actually this is? I don't... But it's beautiful.
This is, as the kids seem to be saying nowadays, "absolute cinema."
this some avant garde shit... I love the gritty visuals, strong sound choices, love how the map looks like some fleshy textures and deep fried JPEGs stacked on top of each other but is actually somewhat working according to common sense 😄😄 awesome and inspiring piece of work right here
intense vibes, liked the approach within the theme, would definitely commit blasphemy in my search for meaning again
This feels like a fever dream. This is great!
@deathandrepublic thanks, the world map texture is actually very zoomed in image of two beetles mating, not flesh
im am baboon too. good expirience mate nice
The baboon gave me a quest to write this comment
where is the god's ear?
Bountifully humorous
I don’t even know what I just played… it felt like a fever dream. But it was hypnotic. Great work!
absolute cinema
Brilliant
the basketball scene was pretty funny. i was like psyched to do a mini game. i guess i won didn't i?
You absolutely killed the mood part - this was crazy. Very human.
Nothing is clear , but it is very interesting)
Amazing journey! Loved the artstyle and a storyline. Can relate to main character...
i dont have hands
This is just the kind of experience I need at 3AM. Great game!
Man what the f*** did I just play?! That's amazing, I wished I had half your creativity. This is the kind of experience that stays with you a long time after playing. Gameplay-wise it's true that there could be a bit more to it, but the aesthetics, the writing, it's all mesmerizing. It took me a few minutes to understand you can point you antenna head to detect the NPCs but I think it's a clever mechanic. Most unique entry I've played so far!
Really cool and creative experience, with pretty interesting messages.
I love these kinds of absurd short games. I wonder if there’s a way to play basketball?
I love the absurd nature of this jam, very in tune with games like Hylics (which is a big favorite of mine). I really just loved the open ended nature of what I was experiencing. Would love to see more from this concept! Well done!
Well this is some artsy stuff :) Thank you for making radar raycast broad so player doesn't need to struggle to find next target. Visual style is amazingly absurd
@pipetto thanks! and sadly no, i left it as the very last thing i would do if i had time and ofc i didnt have time to do even the ten things more important than it
Great aesthetic, love the vibes and writing.
My goodness that was captivating. I do wonder if I got the right ending or not. I'm definitely going to follow you, because I am curious to see your journey.
Very original and stylish game that gives off surreal, absurdist, comedic, and philosophical vibes. I didn't know how that's possible but somehow you pulled it off! Amazing first entry in the jam, congratulations, and thanks for being present in today's stream! 😊 Here's the VOD: https://youtu.be/HGwzSkcD2uU
Interesting art style and cool idea. Good job!
I loved that all.
Wow. Just wow.
The game itself is kind of basic, but I have a feeling your focus was more on the overall experience than the moment-to-moment gameplay. And what an experience it is! Surreal, funny, thought-provoking. And whatever that aesthetic is called, it's on point!
Terrific surreal experience!
Such a creative game. Love it!
Funny and unexpected at every turn, you had the vision.
... perfection!
Impressive. Very nice. Let's see Paul Allen's image of God
the aesthetic is so cool and unique for a jam game it immediately caught my eye when I saw it
I think it's executed really well. some of the parts are surreal and funny and others felt weirdly deep. I don't even mind the lack of gameplay because the game excels at what it's aiming for
Very avantgarde indeed.
Dropping a long over due comment here. Really appreciate you giving me the opportunity to play this game [on stream.](https://www.youtube.com/live/KSYoPmFIwTA?si=HrloZ00iunhVDhuH&t=8558)
My thoughts are shared in the VOD. Hope we see you back for LD60. ✌
I really love the mood of this game, very creative! And the dialogs are top notch! Very good entry
Such a strange feelings haha
