This was the first project in godot, after we have left unity behind. We ran out of time to do a proper level design to hide the props, so it would be a better hide and seek puzzle. But all in all it was a great experience again.
Thanks for playing and please rate our game, we are happy to return the favour of course. Leave a comment if you liked it or if you found one of the many many bugs.
with kind regards Falien and Magus
Would love to see it polished to the level you wanted :) Its great work for a game jam, you should be proud
Welcome to godot <3 We did our first 3D game in godot this time. Lovely engine! Great game! Got stuck on the book though, when you press ESC after opening it it seems to freeze the game?
I really liked the idea and the mistery environment, but is very unclear to me what to do with the runes, i've not been able to complete any summon correctly :(
Nice entry though!
Hmm. Nice crafiting game with found reagents for summon creature
Haha, love the humour! :D And the story is great too. Not sure if I did something wrong, but it seems like some summons are impossible to get correctly? I mean I understand that some of them are supposed to go wrong, but the counter doesn't go up event if everything is done correctly for 2nd and 3rd.
Anyway, that was fun! Nice job!

@aleal-dev You have to throw the runes in the middle of the circle. They don't have to be places on an specific place like the props.

Thanks for the welcoming and nice words everybody. This was a nice experience with godot and we'll keep using it for sure. Maybe there will be a 'post-jam' release with the level layout as intended and some in-game tutorial/explanations. Falien and i liked this gameplay too so who knows! :-) It also works with controllers and everything.
@kob-kirito escape is the "quit game" button, needed to release the mousepointer. It ends the game, as described :-) So that is intended. pressing E will open the book .
@orangedragon the counter itself might be bugged, didn't notice it in testing but didn't pay attention to it either. We'll check if we release a post-jam version

I like the idea of a different order every day to practice summoning from Aurelius, with the story that goes with it. He's not afraid of me making a mess... in fact, I think I've broken the summoning circle ;) It doesn't show me any correct invocations when it seems to me I've done everything right... apparently not! As you said in your message (...a first on Godot!) the atmosphere and scenery are minimalist, but that doesn't prevent immersion.
Good idea for a game mechanic, bravo!
The footsteps are a bit loud.
i really like a sound of jumping!
Very nice entrance, the sound of footsteps is too loud, but the game logic is clear and fits the theme well.

Ok ok ok, I finally found out how to play ^^" Here is how I got here:
First thing I did was walking up to the book and did a random spell. An animal appeared, then I saw the board and started placing stuff. I was wondering why there is a compass while North is clearly marked in the cirlce. After multiple attempts, I found out that the player needed to do a specific spell. So, I once again started by reading the book and placing the elements on the circle (not the letter pieces, I did not find that out)
After reading the description here, I found out that you first needed to place the items, place the letters and THEN needed to read the spell
I liked the game, but was getting bored after a while. It is too slow-paced for me. Also, the sound for walking could have been a bit less intrusive in my opinion :-)

When I published our game I realized that there is another with the same name. I wanted to check it so here I am
Nice game. There are some bugs, but it is to be expected for the first project in new engine.
I really like summoning system, with placing items in specyphic order. It reminded me of the magic system from "Dresden Files" book series.
I think you might have leaned into your mechanic a little too hard. Having items, runes, and a spell was a bit much. It would be fun to do some exploratory learning as the player, have something that a client wants and then I have like 2-3 attempts to do it with a little clue as to what kind of setup I'll need to accomplish it. Having it written out made it feel a bit like a walking sim but for summoning.
Nice idea
Most of the downs of the game have already been written here, but I would still say that adding a step by step tutorial for the first summon could be a good thing so that players are not confused as soon as the game starts, there are a lot of elements to play with and in a specific order, so it is easy to fail your summon without understanding why. Nevertheless I think the core mechanic is very cool, I am sure you will get better at implementing ideas with time and learning of the new engine. Congrats for your game !
I might be a little partial to this one since I used Godot for a 3D game too, but the visual style looks great and the mechanics to conduct the summoning rituals are quite immersive. Also the humor is a nice touch. Several minor issues involving physics are acceptable for a jam game. Excellent job.
