I love the concept and illustrations, but I wasn't able to get past the 3rd level :(

Interesting concept! Did you make this without a game engine? Super coool!
@clintor24 I've added a little walkthrough/explanation. :P
@rinevard Yep! Only SDL3 and some other libraries, including my own.
Cute pixel art style. I love cute things :) Additional appreciation for not using a Game Engine
Genius! The "Depth" of the mechanic is impressive, it only really clicked when I got to the last level that I could and should be reordering the panels, amazing concept, really good work, and I love the graphics too! Cleverest thing I've seen so far this jam!
I can't play it cause I am on a mac, but it's nice to see that you have used git/github during the jam process!
I haven't rated your entry but I have starred and added your repository to a list of ld57 compo : https://github.com/stars/dhmmasson/lists/ludum-dare-57-compo
I have created badges for the readme that you can use: ``` Ludum Dare Ludum Dare ```
Consider using these **topics** to make your Ludum Dare entry more discoverable: - `game` - `game-development` - `ludum-dare` - `ludumdare` - `ludumdare57` - `ludum-dare-57` - `ld57`
Super cool game! the puzzles are very interesting. Sometimes a bit hard to understand the rules of the game, like what's going on with the ordering of the frames, but discovering how it works was really part of the fun. great one!
@dhim Hi, thanks for the list! :P If you're willing to experiment with it, I believe my game should run fine in Wine. I'm myself not on Windows (but on Linux), and had to test in Wine and in VirtualBox.
Loved this, would definitely play more. Well done!
Amazing entry! I loved the clean visuals and UI, simple premise, and neat puzzles in one polished package. Add onto that that essentially every level had unique art for all the objects, it's own animated geometric background, and often a cohesive overall theme/look and this was just a lot of "stuff" for a compo game.
I did have a couple times when a picture didn't seem to work how it was supposed to (kept falling "behind" one of them when I needed to land on it). But after shuffling around the pictures a bit it worked fine.
Well done!
Fascinating! This is an amazing entry - we've seen the 'navigable, draggable windows' before, but the overlapping 'depth' of the windows being critical to the puzzle solving strategy? I've never seen that - and it works _beautifully_.
I completed every level without issue and enjoyed every second of it. The audio work was so charming - and the visuals tickled some very specific whimsical region of my brain. Almost reminds of of 'moebius', or perhaps the ending of 'The Boy and the Heron'- something about those scrolling, pastel geometric backgrounds was really enchanting.
Also - what an adorable end screen - fantastic work!
I could go on gushing about this entry - I can't fathom how you approached coding the colliders and overlap behavior - I'd love to hear any quick-tips you have!
Truly loved this one - inspiring!
Very clever puzzle game and extremely interesting interpretation of the theme. Also the last screen was a nice touch. Loved it!
Nice entry with great graphics
very innovative game, beautiful art. Mechanics weren't very intuitive for me and I spent half hour on last level (at first I was thinking they need to be all at center). But then I managed to build escape route and use angle. Curious if there is other solution for that puzzle. Nice entry! P.s. Probably SDL3 ready for emscripten export, that would add visibility for this great game!
@gdman Thanks! SDL3 itself is emscripten-compatible, but SDL3 GPU isn't yet. The webgpu backend is still being cooked.
Very clever use of the pictures for depth and trying to get the star, I got engrossed in this trying to figure out the solutions. Once I understood how the picture placing works, in order to hop over to the next one, it became much easier to do some trial and error and find the best (or only) path to the star. Overall a really solid entry and one of my favourites so far! Wonderful stuff!
This is great! There was an issue I noticed in level 5 with the snake and hook where when I fall on the long flat part of the hook image from above, sometimes I'd fall behind it while sometimes I wouldn't. I think it might be velocity-based, but I'm not sure. I had a hard time in general understanding the rules for when the player does and doesn't pass behind an image, so that issue especially confused me.
@henk Yeah, some interactions ended up a bit jank. :P
There's an image above in the game description explaining the mechanics better.
I finished the game:( It was my favorite game so far and I finished it, if only there were more levels it took me like 30 minutes to finish the game but every second was fun the only thing I recommend is music, but other than that this is by far my favorite game so far :)

I believe gameplay footage is the best kind of feedback, although in this case you can only watch me suck at a puzzle game. The game is unique and beautiful, but the first five levels don't prepare the player for the final boss, as I could barely clear it even with the guide above.

That was very fun! Great job! Very nice and clean artstyle, and the core mechanic is super fun!
Felt a bit finnicky, but it was fun
Worked very well. A quick and fun game, keep it up!
Amazing, incredible, a triumph. Graphics are incredibly cute, I love the variety and the scrolling backgrounds. Puzzles were well designed and fun to figure out. Thank you for making it! And it's really cool that you made the engine "from scratch"!
@cassowary Thanks for the kind words. :P
I just realized you're the person who made https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/the-great-flood, I remember playing that one.
Impressive work, especially for compo. One of my favourites.
I really liked that the end screen was also its own puzzle, very fun touch.
This is one of the most remarkable compo games I have ever played. Absolutely superb work.
Cutest graphics! I wish it has a web build. Can't play on company computer.
What a cool game!
I wish I had played it before and been able to rate it.
It's okay that it didn't need my vote to have a great overall rating. :D
Congratulations on the game!
