I love the concept and illustrations, but I wasn't able to get past the 3rd level :(

I love the concept and illustrations, but I wasn't able to get past the 3rd level :(
I got past the first puzzle fine, but could never get the left one on puzzle two to rotate into the right orientation. It seemed like it was permanently off axis and I couldn't bring it back :( That aside, I really like the music and visual style to it. Very nicely done.
I love flying games like this. What's tripping me out is that it plays almost identical to the first game I ever made on Dreams for PS4 called Asteroid Rush. So I'm totally biased, but I don't care lol. Great job!
I managed to find an old video of it lol. Here's a screenshot. Screenshot 2025-04-07 190616.png
I'm kind of mad about how long I played this for lol. Great game you've created here! Addicting and fun to play. Pretty well polished too for the time. The only issue I encountered was if you collect too many Gems and put them in the bottom of the ship, the collision starts causing an annoying sound. That's really about it though in terms of issues. I would love it if there were events that occurred every once in a while. Like something gets lodged in the drill bit and you have to get out and fix it. Or you enter a part of the Earth where that mineral is styled differently or is harder to dig through, so they consume more coal. Overall great job! You are my pick to win as of now.
That was a real joy to play. Relaxing, yet challenging and quirky. I want there to be like 100 more levels and I would play them all lol. The art style and music was just chefs kiss. Loved the pesky easter eggs and the cat for a touch of humor. Bravo! Whether your game wins the jam or not, it is my personal favorite of the jam. Please make this a full game! Also, go rank other games so yours doesn't get buried. Would really appreciate if you rated my game as well.
Fun! I really enjoyed that. Simple but has some depth to it.
I played through the whole thing. My favorite that I've played so far! Well designed and cool concept. Here are my thoughts on how you could improve it.
* If looks kind of weird how the entire body moves when you move the mouse. I think designing the robot in a way that the upper half moves like a turret and the lower half rotates in the direction the WASD keys move would seem more natural. * Obviously it's a game jam, so I understand the simplicity, but I think giving actual designs rather than cubes for the enemies would be nice. * It felt a bit too easy to me, I took one small scratch in the entire playthrough.
*There is a collision bug on the ship. If you try to jump onto it's wing, the collision starts acting funny. * Having a reward or some kind of resolution at the end would be nice. Even if it's just an animation of the ship flying away to give that sense of accomplishment.
Overall great job!
Very fun and addicting gameplay. The music track is great as well.
For the time given to create a game, this is a nice turn based RPG. I do think the difficulty progression is a bit steep, but it was fun to play.
Man, I like the visuals and audio for the game, but I couldn't enter the 2nd room without getting a bit frustrated by the controls and the perspective. It's tough making a game with an isometric view, because you have to make the controls feel natural and you have to be able to see through walls in order to play it well. The controls not being in sync with the viewing perspective really threw my brain for a loop and it felt awkward to control. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it though, so I applaud you for that.
Nice concept, and I like the color pallet. The physics seem a bit wonky to me though, and as new pills get added there isn't any warning. So I'll start firing one and then new ones get added, and as a result it slings the pill in a direction I didn't mean for it to go. I get that that is part of the challenge, but I think it use a bit more balancing to make gameplay more enjoyable.
I downloaded it, but the game window was too tiny and I couldn't figure out how to expand it. Bummer.
I'm a little lost here. There aren't any instructions in game for how to play or what the objective is.
The music track and trippy skybox made it very atmospheric. It was honestly kind of terrifying to fall into the abyss lol. Nice post process effects as well. The gameplay and concept is very simple, but well executed. Good job.
That was awesome! I had a blast playing that. The humor was on point, as well as the level design and difficulty. The platforming felt really good as well. Honestly shocked how many levels you were able to put into this with amount of time you had. I spent a good half hour playing it and nothing felt repetitive. Satan at the end was a good challenge and it felt good defeating him. Great job!
I hate being critical, but I want to give my honest feedback. It feels a little undercooked to me. The enemies have the ability to move up and down while you are falling and it feels like they have a bit of an unfair advantage over you. As soon as I landed at the bottom I got one shotted too, which made me not want to play it again. Wish it had some audio to go along with it too. Even if you took your phone and recorded some goofy sound effects for the audio, it would be better than none. On the positive side, the graphics and colors are really well done. I think there is a good game here, it just needs a little more time to cook to get there.
@boboneoone I understand. It's very difficult to get everything done in such a small amount of time. I think your solution of making their position relative to player was smart in that it makes it playable at least. The game I created is similar in that you play while falling down a ravine. I know AI can be difficult to make, so my solution was to omit AI entirely, to save time and make a more simple concept. That gave me more freedom to spend time on audio and animations.
Interesting game. I like the concept, but think there is definitely room for improvement. I felt like the time went by too quickly and I wasn't able to really get into the case before it was over. That may be by design to put pressure on the player to answer, but it felt almost like a coin flip to me. I think having some looping idle animations would add more life to the game. Right now it's completely still, which doesn't give much visually to keep me engaged. I do admire the effort though. Good attempt for your first game.
Great concept! It's simple, but compelling. My only feedback is that it felt almost too easy. It's a very fair game in that it allows you a lot of wiggle room, even when the intensity picks up.
Nice post process effects. Really sells the feeling of being in deep water. I think the speed of the gameplay is a bit slow though. I found myself wishing I could move faster.
@swooty Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I totally agree with you. They do start coming pretty fast once you get farther in. Adding those tweaks you mentioned would make it a bit easier to play for sure. I would love to give more character to fall guy. I was just worried I wouldn't have enough time to animate him if I went too detailed with his design.
@scott-r-howell Thank you :)
@boboneoone Thanks for playing. Yeah, it's a looping static mesh, so I can definitely see where you're coming from.
@psychomonster I appreciate your feedback. Yeah, the audio is indeed a bit loud lol and the visuals and audio could use some improvement. I'm glad you enjoyed playing it though!
@jk5000 Thank you. It is a very challenging game and hard to get far in. My own personal best is only 889 meters. It's a hard balance to hit, trying to make it challenging but not too challenging. I appreciate your feedback.
Yay! it makes me happy to see another Unreal developer. So many of the submissions were done with Unity, Game Maker, or Godot, so it was refreshing to see. I really like the concept of the game. Really creative and the subject mater is obscure but interesting. As an Unreal developer, I died laughing when I heard the death sound effect and instantly recognized it as the build fail error sound in Unreal lmao! I'm sure that will go over so many peoples heads. I find it so interesting to see peoples unique approach to making a game for the jam. I went through the whole process of modeling, rigging and animating the character in my game and the thought hadn't even crossed my mind to make a game using simple shapes to save time. A totally valid approach and your game is a perfect example of using simplicity to your advantage. The music tracks are a highlight as well. Great job!
