I made it! A complete game that works (at least in my standard)! I almost forget this ld exists and joined in halfways, but I still made a complete game! hell yeah :sunglasses:

The music track and trippy skybox made it very atmospheric. It was honestly kind of terrifying to fall into the abyss lol. Nice post process effects as well. The gameplay and concept is very simple, but well executed. Good job.
Love the music !

Loved the game — got a high score of 51k! Great for people with ADHD!

Really cool visuals, I love the dot shading effect and the skybox is awesome. The black and white colour scheme and all the staircases made me think of the painting "relativity" by escher:

My high score was ~30k, made a couple of very big (intentional) big falls to land closer to coins which was very fun.
Thanks for playing this! @sprill Yes ADHD lol me too
@benskca Definitely some inspiration from that
Hey fun game! I got 65k as my best. I love the art style and sfx. I think maybe some sfx for collecting the items could really increase that "dopamine" factor and make the game more addicting. I played it a few runs and its pretty fun! Nice job!
@dingbat Wow really high score, I was at 62k once... thanks for playing! Yes that collecting effect really should be juicy more, but I was out of time and went with this settled solution
Great entry! Love the art style//
btw, how do you achieve this kind of graphic paper-like style? Shader? That looks really cool!
@aly-name Thanks! I do spent a lot of time on graphics, so here is the thing: Yes, pixel-ish shadow is a shader material applied on stairs.
The tech used is called Dithering, and can be applied on anything, 2d or 3d, you can find many examples on the internet for any engine, very easy and classic approach.
The gradient effect on the pixels is also part of the shader, by calculating the distence to the player, it twicks some variables of that dithering, make the pixels density higher or wiseversa.
I really like dithering, it is very simple and also quite effective, and has a lot potencial when gently twicked.
Also, other than stairs with dithering, rest part is just the same noise shader I found online, and a bit of color design of course, I dedicatedly chose different white and gray, to make everything looks organic altogether.
The shaders are amazing, the audio also. A very nice game overall. Next time use other fonts for a style like this. Other than that: congrats. Great entry for the compo
Woah! Loved this one - unparalleled vibes.
You know, it almost reminds me of House of Leaves. Or 'Blame!', for that matter.
Something about the
The shader work is phenomenal here - the halftone evokes a sense of retro-eeriness, the monotone hydro-wave background a grounded psychedelic feel, and the black hole, of course, as this dope Damocles sword above and below you. The typeface choice supports that too. Something about the shiny, 'video-game-y' rings juxtaposed against the cold, plummeting staircase really draws you in. The audio effect helps sell that as well.
Plus - it's quite fun! Bouncing down long straightaways, jumping over corners, taking leap-of-faith 'shortcuts' - reminds you of being a kid racing down the school stairs after final bell.
Yeah! I'll have to check out those godot shaders...
Fantastic work!
@ugly-robot OMGOMG You just knows the thing! OMG it feels beyond any words that someone actually knows every bit of the detail I put into the design, inconceivable, thank you for knowing my little game!
@wo-ri-gou-le <3 thank you for making it!
You can also upload such a soundtrack to YouTube)
Man, these graphics are so awesome!.
really fun game actually! got pretty lucky with the coin spawns on my last run and got a nice score :)

I really like the dithering effect. This game is scary in House of Leaves kinda way. I dig it. Nice job!
This is super fun. Success is a little bit too luck-based for my liking (sometimes you just get a gigantic horizontal stretch of nothing with nowhere to drop-shortcut to), but other than that this is one of the most entertaining compo games I've played so far.
I had trouble extracting the linux build: my computer doesn't have a program which can extract .rar files (or at least not this particular .rar file). A .zip or .gz would have been more convenient.
@henk Thank you for playing! I definatly wanted some smarter generation to avoid that kind of boring long end, but just didn't make it into the build lol. And thank you for linux advice, I dont use linux so I just don't know, next time I'll pack a zip!
Nice concept clear and speedy
(happy to see you again) >////< I really appreciate the lighting effect you made>////< it looks super cool.

@thyoi ThankUUU that's cute! I thought you didn't join right after compo end, but jam I see... ThankU
(Ps: I am actually male but anyway it's cute I dont care lol
