This is a really nice little game, and I love the different take on the theme you've used! I look forward to the inverse mode in the future >:)

Great work! I laughed out loud at the reflection news story. Keep it up!
I love this gaaaaaame! It's my kinda humor and it's hilarious to deliberately sabotage yourself to get fired  The graphics are super duper cute and I am impressed that New Zealand was included on the map, it is often left off! Music was fantastic and I loved the progression through levels. The only improvement I could suggest is a "How to Play" screen.
Pretty fun game, the news prompts + responses to them had a really nice variety + the news stories were great. The music complimented the game well. If you continue this post jam something to add could be audio effects responding to how you answer (such as people saying boo when you say things like local clowns holding people hostage is a heartwarming story) to add more weight to your actions
I like the concept you went with. It was fun but it took me a little to figure out if I was supposed to fill the bar or not. I would have also liked the idea that you would have to use a bad quip for portion of the day, and depending on which story, it would have more or less of an impact. I am really looking forward to the Weather and Interview future additions. Great job!
i really liked this game. the future inverse and interview modes sound like there's a lot of potential for some real devious reporting! the writing was very funny too. what do you think about adding a timer for a sort of hard mode?
Thanks everyone for the comments!
@sass Haha, I made extra sure to include New Zealand! I even ended up making it way bigger than it probably is! I'll be sure to add an instructions screen; this should help with knowing what the bar is for, as @slightly-ajar said.
@ategon That's a great idea to add audience noises, I think it would go a long way to make it more clear how your response was taken!
@eric-nguyen A hard mode is a good idea! I might add a timer in general, as it makes sense that you shouldn't be able to leave a big gap between responses.
very creative! Good job on this game!
Unique use of the theme, fun creative game!
I think this was pretty innovative game. One of the most innovative that I played at this jam. I really would like a pill that let's me eat all the cake I want without the health consequences haha. This is almost like a card game where you have a hand of cards you need to use strategically.
The writing in this was pretty clever and funny. Getting all the writing, artwork, and programming done for this in 72 hours is impressive.
One small thing with the game was that I was confused about if I was doing a good job or a bad job until I noticed the meter filling up.
I'm looking forward to the other future modes. They sound pretty funny.
I honestly really enjoyed this game! I love the news stories so much and the things you can say make them even better! Please keep developing this, I want to play more! Fantastic game!
Not gonna lie, it was damn fun to try giving the worst possible answer ahhahaahha
This is a very clever take on the theme, I love to see these kind of creative games. I think your idea for a voiceover would be pretty funny with a good broadcaster voice. Alternatively this might also work very well as a multiplayer party game, a la fibbage, where each player must respond to news or perhaps even prompt their own news. Very cool artwork and the music is spot on. Great job!
Great concept and fun execution! I could almost see this as a board game of sorts.
Echoing what other folks said: I think it's more fun to give bad answers. I also noticed that there's a bit of a knock-on effect where if you get one answer "wrong", it impacts the pool of answers you're likely to have to work with in the next set, leading to a cascading effect where everything falls apart. I liked the writing, but I do feel like you could have gone a bit more nuts, or added some more ridiculous events.
Fun concept that could be really interesting to develop further, with instead of a simple meter judging if you did good or bad having consequences on choosing pro or against certain action types.
Could affect the kind of guests you receive or maybe has an effect on the stock market and you're secretly influencing the world to become richer.
I agree that the news could be even wilder, and that giving the inappropriate answers is quite funny too.
I'm reminded of this card game with incomplete sentences and players picking the dumbest parts to shove in it. I think a similar concept of having pieces of news to put together to complete the newscast script could be interesting, maybe even without knowing the script while you're picking the order the parts appear in, so you get to discover what horrors you said once it's revealed.
I had fun playing, good game !
Thanks everyone for the feedback!
@russ-moonbase Yeah I'll definitely add some sound effects or other feedback to tell you when you gave a correct/incorrect response!
@sbeif Yeah as I was making this I kept thinking that it felt similar to some Jackbox games, I think a multiplayer mode would work well if I decide to take the project in that direction!
@gametrodon Yeah, initially I just planned the inverse mode which would require you to give bad answers, but now I'm thinking I might switch the normal mode around to be that way as it's a lot funnier; I'm still undecided!
That's also true, when you start running out of different card types it's easy to lose more than one life. Although, ultimately the next story is always randomly selected; that may be the wrong way to go about it though and I definitely want to balance the game a bit better.
In terms of the news stories, they do start off more mundane, but then progress to some ridiculous stories in the final round. The middle round is 50/50 of normal and ridiculous, so maybe I could tweak that to make it get more exciting faster.
@patatenouille That's a great idea about your responses having actual consequences, it's something I didn't consider! It would be great if the stories in the next day somehow reference a comment you made the day before.
Piecing together multiple parts of a story is another great idea, and I think that could give the player a lot more to think about. Having the player not know what they're responding to would also be hilarious, I'll think about where I can fit that in!
Also yeah, like I said to gametrodon above, I think I'll make the stories get more ridiculous earlier on; my intention was for it to start off normal and get weirder over time. I'll still keep it that way, it just needs to happen faster.
Could be nice seeing at the end of the day how your way of delivering the news affected the world and have a better feedback about it
I was totally not expecting this sort of take on the theme. Delivery news! Genius! It's really fun to play and I'd love to see more of this game in the future! I like the spritework and the news jingle music. But most of all I love the concept, it's so clever!
hmmmmmm. i think i should have trued to be wrong not right!
Wow! It's remind's The Legend of Ron Burgundy. You have a styyyyle.
News was pretty funny.
Great concept, never thought I'd need a news narrator simulator game! The responses sometimes create super fun situations haha.
Pretty funny stuff! Deliberately giving the worst response lead to some funny combinations.
Really innovative interpretation of the theme, leads to some pretty funny combinations! It feels polished. Great work!
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream! Here’s the stream if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts (timestamps in the description to jump to your game!) [youtube link](youtu.be/7zAPBeiWuqA)
nice twist on the theme, a relaxing ride but with a little worry as to what news my left over prompts will poorly pair with  . Good job!
Some really fun narrative systems in there, intended and unintended hilarity are always fantastic in these types of games, great work, fantastic entry!
