Very nice artstyle! Is the game infinite or did I just not go for long enough? I generally felt like I needed somewhere to put the people and fish as my boat quickly got completely overfilled making it very hard to pick up right rods, though the core gameplay loop was actually very good

sherwin-claridge 2023-05-02 18:56

Can't fault the art style - charming and proffesional quality imo. It adds so much to the art style. Gameplay is simple but fun - who doesn't like throwing a fishing rod. I would say the animation looks a bit odd when you cast it.

abi-code16 2023-05-02 19:16

I loved the art!simple gameplay but so pleasant to play, I really enjoyed it

nani 2023-05-02 19:16

I was thinking the same thing as BLumbye. I accidentally dropped one of my rods on the edge of the boat and couldn't get it back. I fell like ten times in the ocean and then caught a fish on my bare hands in attempt to catch the rod. I did get my rod back in the end though. Although I didn't play it very well I had so much fun nonetheless

kleinzach 2023-05-02 20:58

I really like the art and music!

skelleroznik 2023-05-02 21:05

I really enjoyed the game. The gameplay idea is very simple, yet engaging, I kept playing for quite a lot of time. After some time of fishing for fish and... people it got hard to switch between rods. I feel like actually going around and place and pick up rods on was part of what made the game fun, though.

The art is simply beautiful. Animations looked extremely expressive, which made it even more fun for me.

Title screen is gorgeous! The art style is very pretty, loved the graphics. I was a bit confused as to what the different rods were for in the beginning, but once I figured it out, it was fun. My favorite mechanic was dodging the rocks. I would suggest maybe introducing them one at a time. I also had to read the instructions on the webpage again to figure out how to actually shoot the rod instead of keep picking up and dropping. Would also be nice if there was an indication of progress, I don't know if its endless or if there's a goal, but I crashed my boat too close to a house and lost.

Wow this Game is a graphical marvel. Really impressive how you pulled this off. Congrats on all fronts.

jasonsumm1 2023-05-02 21:45

Really impressive work team! The art and design is great. Really loved this vibe and who doesn't love fishing (in games)! :D

sbeif 2023-05-02 21:48

Very cool art, the mix of 2d and 3d is a bit strange but it works. The idea is nice but I felt like the challenge was mostly due to the stuff filling up the boat and making it harder to change the rod, while I probably would have enjoyed more a gradual increase in pickups and obstacles as a way to increase the difficulty. I also wasn't sure if there was a goal or progression, other than the boat life points, but that didn't push me to pickup more stuff, only to avoid obstacles.

anguium 2023-05-02 22:42

Fantastic art direction! Echoing what others said, boat getting full caused some difficulty but aside from that it was a delight to experience! Excellent job to everyone involved.

arthur-sorignet-gautrot 2023-05-03 00:23

Good job ! dodging rocks is fun with thoses rodes and the art style is beautiful, sweeet

congeesetador 2023-05-03 01:47

This was a very awesome artistic game! It looks and sounds beautiful! It took me a bit to get used to because I kept constantly dropping the fishing rods since in most games left mouse click is to fish and it was a force of habit, but after I got through that it was really fun! I love how you have to switch between rods to do different things, the only thing I will say is when you get a lot of fish on your boat it gets really hard to see the rods and get to them without picking up the fish, but other than that this is a really nicely developed game! I can tell you guys worked really hard on it! Keep up the good work!

ponygirlluna 2023-05-03 02:55

This was fun, but I'll agree that by fishing everything up it becomes quite cumbersome to switch fishing rods. I did really like the switching mechanic—just wish it was a little easier. The art and music is an absolute delight, and despite having to panic juggle items to clear obstacles, I had a nice, relaxing time. There's a lot to love here!

colin-misbach 2023-05-03 03:58

Fun art style! Having all the bouncing fish jumbled with the fishing rods made it hard to switch rods, felt like artificial difficulty (having each rod on 1-3 numpad would be super helpful in the heat of things).

The game looks awesome and the music matched it perfectly. The mechanics all felt unique. Cool stuff!

demigris 2023-05-03 04:16

The art is sooo beautiful and I really love the design. I'm frantically trying to pick up the right fishing rod but I keep lifting fish and people instead hahaha, got lots of fun in this game!

joaopbax 2023-05-03 05:34

@blumbye @skelleroznik @anguium @congeesetador @ponygirlluna @colin-misbach @demigris Hey guys, sorry for the ping! Just wanted to say we had a system in place to make the Rods have priority over the fish when picking something up, but it seems it wasn't working correctly. I uploaded a new version with this bug fixed, it should feel much better and easier to grab the rods in the middle of all the fish and people now. Thank you guys so much for bringing this to our attention!

cloistered 2023-05-03 06:08

Nice game.I like the rods idea.

Maybe when I catched fish or people 5 times I can get a extra life.

blank-3d 2023-05-03 15:17

Beautiful game! Would have loved it if the story progresses as you play.

conradoclark 2023-05-03 17:05

Lovely game, gorgeous visuals! The only thing that I think could be easier was the rod switching, because with a full boat, as others mentioned, it's hard to get the right rod (I ended up holding a lot of fish and people before grabbing the green rod and died haha).

I love how the menus were made, and the art overall is incredible. The game seems to be made with a lot of love and it shows. The game is also super fun to play, I like how it progresses from just fish to people then obstacles then everything together. Great work!

kristallllllik 2023-05-03 17:49

Cool art style, interesting idea!

flying-butter-studio 2023-05-03 20:42

What an amazing art style, realy fun to play. Impressive work in 48 hours! The sound was relaxing too and the gameplay was interesting. In conclusion: Very good job and a beautiful game, thank you for that!

ghodan 2023-05-04 02:17

Outstanding atmosphere, your art and sound direction is superb.

pixelstuff 2023-05-04 16:19

I struggled a bit with the controls at first, but once I got the hang of it, it's a great submission. The graphics and music create a great atmosphere for the game. There are many interesting directions to develop if you decide to continue it outside the competition :)

fravinci 2023-05-04 22:13

Haha funny idea, the visualls are the hot topic here! It was quite funny to gather fish and people on my Boat xD

smoky01 2023-05-05 04:15

Good and interesting idea. Nice))

mateu 2023-05-05 04:33

As everybody has already said, the art style is really good. I loved the premise of fishing, that was also pretty awesome. However, I struggled to understand the mechanics. I didn't have a problem catching fish and people and stuff, but when it came to the rocks in my way I really had no clue what to do. There wasn't much of an explanation that told you how to do anything. I also wasn't really sure what my goal was or what to do with the people and fish once they were on my boat. It was a bit confusing.

It was still a really awesome submission though, so great job!

EDIT: just realized you wrote down in the description on the LD page the different uses of the rods. Apparently I didn't read far enough to see that. I don't really know if that's my fault or not... generally I think a game should be able to explain itself without the need for an explanation outside the game.

joaopbax 2023-05-05 05:33

@mateu Yeah, I completely agree! Sadly, we didn't have time to implement a tutorial or better visual guides during gameplay.

gao-ming 2023-05-05 06:42

It's pretty fun, the art and music are well done, and the game is pretty fun, well done!

benk 2023-05-05 09:06

I really dig the art style and the overall vibe with the lore and music. Feels alive. The mechanic was nice but it seemed incomplete, the main challenge was switching between the rods but that was pretty finicky.

furtive-pygmy 2023-05-06 01:26

Nice relaxing game, music and art were awesome. Loved the gameplay, but wasn't sure on what the goal was other than hoarding people and fish in my little boat like some sort of angry sea god. It ended up being difficult picking up the right rod when needed. Great entry team!

weirdbitgames 2023-05-06 06:47

It was nice to play a much more chill game for once! The music so we relaxing too! I don't know if I was doing something wrong but I could cast the fishing rods (I tried all 3) but they never seemed to catch anything, be it a fish (blue) or a person (red). A lovely concept for a game though, it was still fun to experience and play!

brandon-campbell 2023-05-07 18:27

What a unique idea! The music and art style are excellent. The picking up and dropping of fishing poles just doesn't work that well. I think putting them on hotkeys (like 1,2,3) would have made gameplay a lot less frustrating.

wuppos 2023-05-07 19:17

I really like the creativity of this game. I have never played a game like this before. You had to decide when was the right time to swtich between rods, which was easy at the beginning, but became harder as the game went on. The boat also got full of fish and people, which made it a harder to pickup what you wanted to pickup. I think all the mechanics in this game really complemented each other to create a very unique and enjoyable whole. The art and music of this game were also really cool, creating this very cosy atmosphere.

Maybe one point of feedback would have been making the different rods more distinguishable. Now each time I had to remind myself which color of fishingrod was used for what. Some extra attachements like you have on your gamepage would have been nice I think. :)

Otherwise really nice job! I liked it a lot :D

studiocherno 2023-05-08 05:25

Hey @arturcosta, @pedro-papa-paniago, @cabritta, and @joaopbax

Great game you guys put together! I **really** liked the art style of the game! The mix of 2D and 3D + the shader + the stylised water gave the game a unique, beautiful look!

Couple of things as far as feedback goes: - I was able to rotate the player model to be at 90d to usual rotation, I am not sure how I did it but I couldn't repeat it after trying again - I think the game would benefit from using num keys 1,2,3 to access the fishing rods rather than picking them up from the boat as I think the game would just feel better with that...

Over all great game, and good entry, loved it, hope you guys continue to develop it!

-Tim

dreamerflow 2023-05-08 20:54

I like the art and music, and the mechanics are pretty nice, don´t get how Im lose, I think you get damage in the boat with the debries, maybe some feedback when you lose, very nice entry, I enjoy it, cool work!
