Very cool take on the theme! Building the battlefield yourself is a neat idea and it opens up a lot of tactical opportunities.
I think the difficulty of the game is on the lower side. Early levels do not really pose any threat to the player and they feel quite long when enemies just spawn and instantly die. Everything will get harder as the progresses but I think the pacing is slightly too slow for a game jam where people will most likely only spend a short time with your game.
It would have been cool to be able to reposition tiles during the building phase. Not old tiles but the ones you were currently placing. It would have opened up more tactical opportunities when building. It took me a while to realise that you can switch what tiles you are about to place.
But overall, a very solid package. Neat graphics, good sound (selection) and interesting mechanics!

Very interesing idea and great execution. Graphics are amazing, there is much attention to details. The difficulty is very low unfortunately.
My suggestions: - much shorter rounds with enemies spawning more frequently - more agressive enemy ai

Really enjoyed this. Love how polished it felt. I did find that it was a bit easy - I put most of the enemy tiles far away and then put a large area of walking tiles but I got bored and then put the spawn behind me - I wonder if forcing tiles to be an enemy spawn that might force more startegy into the tile placement. If you wanted to expand it then maybe to you let the player buy fire rate or dmg+ for extra enemy tiles

Very nice player feedback, idea is unique and implemented perfectly! I had fun while playing it and would like to see some more variation in the future :D (in Steam :D)
Dude this is so sick. Loved that the menu has it's own simulated version of the game, great idea! At first the premise reminded me of the film Hitchikers Guide to the galaxy! BUT man, this thought made me really excited for this type of a game, because if you could implement this, that would be so fun. Essentially adding crafting, and mobs are your source of resources! The way you have it setup right now is great but with that added, progression would be insane. Maybe like, have other islands around you that you can push towards for more unlocks. I'm thinking of forager. Anyway, Good luck man, I loved this one!

couple points, it would be nice to have mouse hold down to fire, delete all bullets when wave is over, i got hit so many times when i cant move. something to aim at like a cross hair. also the game got super laggy after 5 waves.

I love the concept of building your own challenge, however, at this state you just put ground behind you and cluster the spawners togeter for an easy win. I wish there was some sort of incentive or reward for you making it harder for yourself.
Very good game! Feels great to play, maybe a bit too easy.

Fantastic Idea, loved the execution. Touch on the easy side, but it is a gamejam so it's all good!
the music is really amazing, and the game as well
Reverse tower defense! A fun concept, terrific art, vibing music, and nice game juice with the screenshake and particle effects. Just very well put together.
The game did get a little samey after a while, perhaps more monsters/blocks appear later in the game but since nothing new appeared after a few waves I felt I'd seen the extent of things. The waves themselves felt a little long, and things moved slowly so the action felt a little low on action.
But all in all, very nice work!
Beautiful visual effects, quite relaxing game! Great job.

Great juice and use of sound + music, really nice art and lots of vfx etc and it all just feels great, I think it's really solid!
Unfortunately the design is pretty questionable, from the get-go it's kinda easy for the player to abuse the level design system to spawn all the enemies far away where they can't get to you, there's little incentive to actually build interesting levels and I think the biggest problem is the enemy designs don't quite work with the concept. It would be much more interesting to have enemies that could spawn, destroy or transmute tiles, so the level is changing not just because of the player, which would also mitigate the player being able to create kill traps. Another strategy might be to have enemies get stronger if they are close together to punish kill boxes. Leaning into mechanics along those lines would really elevate this from a juicy jam game with nice art to something much more exciting to play.
That's strictly a design complaint though! Everything else is great! It's solid and I have not much to say on anything other than the design because every other part of the game is so solid! Awesome work!!

Sometimes I am astonished by the ideas coming to your heads guys. This is exactly the case! Although the building part might lack some diversity, the fighting part is so fun and the game gradually becomes more difficult. Thank you for the game.
Played web version for referance, great game, nice and polished, had some issues once you get to about 20+ spawners. Game lagged a bit at high enemy counts, sometimes bullets would hit you during build phase.
Kinda felt like unlimited space lol, easily made a giant walk zone and crammed all the bad stuff in 1 corner. Only died when bullets stopped rendering properly haha
What a nice entry! It could be a "real" game, please make it alive! You have something cool ! I love it, i play it and... I loose... But anyway, incredible job!

This is the most polished game I tried so far. The art is amazing and the game feels great. I'm just not sure if the capacity to build our own world really adds to the experience. I think that to achieve that we would need more different blocks, such as ally spawn, shield, or stuff like that, that allows a greater range of strategic choices. I realize that perhaps you had something like that in mind and you just didn't have time to implement it (it's crazy enough that you reached this level of polish) but right now it feels like the only viable strategy here is "group the enemy spawns on one side so that you can shoot in that general direction and never get surrounded". Also I feel like the theme here is more of an "unlimited space" as it keeps expanding. I hope this comes across a constructive criticism because the quality is great and I'd love to see this idea exploited more
Woah! From sound, to graphics, to building system to the feel of the gun is super polished! The core loop though is lacking imo, the enemies aren't really a challenge and it felt like it got increasingly easier since you had so many dirt tiles you have to place. With a more limited amount of (non dangerous) tiles it would be more challenging. I only died since the game was lagging/stuttering at some point, maybe due to too many enemies. Getting a more limited amount of tiles and more tiles to interact with enemies or the player and then this game is so polished. All other aspects feel so polished though! Really well done!

935, that's me! I enjoyed it, but it could definitely use more complexity, but a great proto type. I like the idea. Also, by the time I got to that score, my computer was chugging so much, I could barely move (I couldn't even see my laser beams any more).

Really impressive pixelart and production, the screenshakes, the SFX, everything gives a really polished experience. While the mix between tile placement and shooting phase sounded promising, it becomes dull quite fast, maybe because the user can really do anything they want: I placed all enemies spawners in a line and just had to shoot them without even moving. Maybe adding rules to enforce tiles placement in certain ways, or adding random tiles around which you have to build the level could be more interesting. Anyway, really good entry, had much fun with it!

Interesting idea! The game also feels and looks great, but once there's a lot of objects on screen the lag is awful. I agree with the previous commenter that some rules to enforce specific placement would be beneficial - right now the system is easy to abuse and cheese.
Love the addition of the leaderboard, it's the thing that kept me playing) Gotta be first!
