cool!!!!!!!!! good game
Very cool game! I love boids, and I love the concept you made with them!
Very neat game! Simple but effective, and lots of fun!
Thanks for the game, I had a great time! The concept is solid, with interesting puzzles and a nice feel. It could use a bit more style and uniqueness, but overall, great work!
Very cool idea, definitely spot on w.r.t. the theme!
A really interesting concept, the music gave it an eerie vibe that I really enjoyed.
I did struggle between the green and blue colours initially and I don't have any sight issues, so could be something to think about in future.
I liked how you had to make a choice as to which ships could be saved and how the control you had over them wasn't as strong later on, good job!
solid aesthetic and vibes. The gameplay was super cool! The idea of making a game about boids and actuallly just having them be boids and not birds or something is really fun. I kept just going "no! me boids" whenever stuff happened and it made me giggle.
I like the charms of this game. This is the end? charm.PNG
Can't load the game (firefox) :(
@co5monaut Yeah, I definitely wanted to try and do some shader stuff to spiff the game up beyond "it's just shapes", like Geometry Wars or something retro-graphics inspired, but I simply didn't have the time to do it. Kind of a shame because I did a bit of preparation looking at Raylib shaders and have a bit of shader-writing background, but that's how it goes.
OH, this game is actually fun! The physics are so smooth, and the gameplay is surprisingly addictive!
@royur Yes, that's the end. It's taking a bunch of people by surprise, so sorry about that. I definitely should have made that more clear.
There is also an invisible exit where there was one in the last game, and you can take the boids down it and crash the game, if you want a super secret ending, I suppose.
@hotdog I use firefox, so I'm not sure how to help you. If you can look at any errors in console, I might be able to figure it out.
@marknormington So interestingly, the blue and the green boids don't influence each other's flight at all. If you have pretty even numbers flying together, you'll actually see them "wave" or "oscillate" as two groups while flying in separation.
This was done entirely for the blue/green coded level, since otherwise some of the blues would want to stay with some of the lagging greens because of flocking as the other color hits the wall and stays behind. But it does have the effect of making the flock less strong. It could have been cool to explore more of the flocking parameters/mechanics, but just didn't have the ideas or time, so it's cool at least a little ended up in there.
And yeah, the blue/green contrast is not great and wasn't particularly well thought out. I kind of like how they look at least a little bit similar, but I would have liked to do some kind of effects to make them look more independent. Maybe I could have given some outlines.
@occamslaser You’ve done a great job—what matters most is that the game is fun to play! There's always room to grow, and I'm excited to see where you take it next
Very good entry with a special take on how to play. I like it.
Very neat toy. I think a little popping sound as the boidlings enter the exit would have been quite satisfying.
The story of the game is so tragic I tried my best to save some of those but the big red circle globbed them up! I enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the game and it was fun to guide the little objects around!
An interesting little game. The music and visuals is pretty good. Controls is fun. Overall a fine little jam game.
