Hey, I would love to play your game in the browser, but your Godot upload is broken on ldjam. They have a section here how to fix it, you just have to replace a few lines in the generated js file: https://ludumdare.com/resources/guides/embedding/ - worked for our game! Turning notifications on ;)

This is amazing for a tower-defending game! Love your art work!

Cool stuff, needs speed up button. Also the placing of the turrets is a bit weird sometimes. Good job!

I loved doing this as a kid, it's definitely a perfect theme

The game became simple once I figured out the mechanics, but it was fun to figure out. The mechanics of the rays are especially cool, a special like for it. Good luck!

Really liked the game. I played it in one sitting. Just a few things: - i had to restart the first few levels a bunch of times, because i didnt understand the different towers and once you click on a tower you have already purchased it and the money is gone, because its to expensive to just scrap them again. - The sun system could also be a bit more clearer for the first few rounds. The magnifying glass is a really good and fun mechanic. - i found the first few rounds really slow

The art style of the insects is perfect, It remembers me of summer when those militant creatures are flying around. Had fun playing the game. Thanks.^^

This is a really complete submission which I appreciate a lot. The theme/graphics/gameplay all complement each other nicely, and there is some interesting design here for a tower defense game I haven't seen before. One of the better games I've played so far.

The idea is nice but I have two possible suggestions: a fast forward button to increase the game speed, since during the wave I'm just waiting there for the bugs to die, I'd like that to happen fairly quickly so I can move to the next stage and add more towers. Another one would be to make it so a bug can only eat part of the food. I had two bees run past and I lost and it felt a bit too unforgiving. I like the lenses and mirrors idea very much, I don't think I've ever seen that kind of turret. Very clever!

Please let insects drop money instead of giving it at the end of the round - it will make the game much more forgivable and allow for more control. Also, the magnifying glass mechanic is very interesting, good job on that!

Lovely tower defense game! Wish there was a speed up option but really great what you were able to accomplish in a weekend!

Is this a bug tower defense? I'm impressed :) Seriously, the game is cool, the bugs are scary and cute (those bees in helmets won me over until my first wasp with a chainsaw scared me, WHERE DID IT GET THAT THING?). The game is a bit slow at the beginning, but that's almost always the case in this genre. Special plus for the amazing pixel art!

This was a really well done tower defense! I can definitely see this being worked on further for a full game with a lot more content (i.e. items, enemies, etc.). You worked the theme into it really well, and the game seemed to function perfectly. I agree with one of the other suggestions that mentioned a fast forward ability would be nice. Otherwise, nice job! This was great.

Nice game! Tower defense games are so cool

Really fun game! At first I thought this was just going to be a bog standard tower defence but the magnifying glass and mirror mechanic was really unique, and fits the game perfectly.

Multiple people have mentioned before a fast-forward or speed up would be nice, so I won't rehash that again. I would've also liked if the bugs dropped money instead of it all being dispensed at the end of a round, as it would allow the player the ability to respond to anything missing in their tower setup.

All in all, a really solid entry and could definitely see this being expanded into a full on game!

Challenging game! Love the magnifying glass mechanic, really creative. Needs a speed up button, but I could just be spoiled from Bloons. Also the ability to earn money mid-round would be nice

zombiewalrus 2024-10-16 11:44

Cool game! Would be nice to have some speed up option, but overall it was pretty good, loved towers, they give many possibilities to build interesting combination and add more maps.

Those are some heavily-armed bugs... I really enjoyed the game, especially trying out different strategies of bug killing. Putting a row of magnifying glasses on top worked quite well for me.

The game feels polished, there could be more quality of life features and a better tutorial, but I played a tower defense game before so I knew what to do instantly.

Great job!

nopogo 2024-10-21 18:56

the magnifying glass with the mirrors are a very unique idea I haven't seen any other tower defense game do. Great idea!

jeremy-ryan 2024-10-22 03:32

Nice entry!

As others have said, the magnifying glass and mirrors are a novel neat spin on an otherwise fairly straightforward tower defense game. I really liked how you could get really good coverage with the magnifying glasses at the cost of consistency, since you had to add or remove mirrors to make sure they continued to work across rounds.

I had to restart the first level a couple times because there were ways to spend your money that just made you lose (like buying a flyswatter, which can't quite take the first wave on its own), but after a couple false starts I was able to make it through all the levels without any more problems. Part of the issue is also that bugs just continue to eat your picnic until you're dead, unlike most traditional tower defense games where leaking one or two units just costs you part of your health.

The music and graphics were really cute. I enjoyed the creativity of some of the enemy designs, especially how they got more and more intense over time. I liked the chainsaw bee in particular so I drew a little doodle of him:

Thanks for making this, and good luck during the rest of play and rate!
