it turned out well
I love the music and the art! Sadly its very short :(
Dang, that was short. At least that means there are no more "pick a pipe" or blind drops.
Awesome looking pixel art and lovely color palette. Solid platforming controls too (even though I'd usually want a separate jump button but I could use arrows and W as a pseudo jump). Couldn't even break out of the last wrong hole dead end by glitching/clipping to a wall no matter how I tried. 😅
Cool music too! Sound effects would have also been nice but I guess the biggest thing missing here was at least a bit more content.
Oh well, I guess game is a good one if it leaves you wanting some more content. Kinda funny that the preview gif on the page is like 50% of the whole game.
Good job! 👍
I was ready to give up on it since it was a pretty random to know where you were falling. But then i realized its on the devil theme and it was suprisingly short and saw why you did it like that :D The music is really good! A short but good game!
Awesome art style and music! Love it!
Very fun, I loved the music!
@onngd, @ollulf, @ricesteam, @threegoldeneggs, thank you so much for playing!
We're really happy you enjoyed it! We aimed to find the right mood on both the art and the music and I guess it turned out fine (haha). I did feel like the devil pixel art turned out a bit jagged, though.
@prunus-padis, haha, yep, it’s with the devil you are dealing with. The game was pretty short, unfortunately :( Since it was @marce and @juliocezar’s first jam, we tried to keep the scope small, but I think we could have expanded it a bit more toward the end. Thanks so much for the feedback – we're glad you liked it!
@antti-haavikko, thanks a lot for your feedback! You’re absolutely right – the gif does give away half of the game, haha. We're glad you liked the music and the style; we chose a restricted pallete because we thought it would be easier. We used garageband on the phone to make the music, it comes with a lot of fine sounds.
Thanks everyone for playing! 😈
Hi there, I'm really appreciate your enthusiasm to play our game and your feedback, we put our heart and good thinkings in it, so thanks again and I will expect be a better job next time.
Note: The game is too short, but is the first time when me and @marce do this!
See u soon friends!
I like the pixel art and animations a lot! It took me too much time to figure out that jump was implemented and that I could not use space button but W. Anyway good job :)
@francescogorgone, yeah I guess I assumed that "W" was, for some reason, a default jump button haha. Thanks a lot for the feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the graphics :)
Love the art style!
Love the aesthetic and style of the game. The character movements are so smooth and cool to look at! Like how other said, I wish it was longer but I love how despite its length, the story was established clearly with the devil guy going home.
Poor devil! I don't think I'm going to complain about my commute anymore :X Loved the art and audio!
Really enjoyed the art and ending music. Definitely a little cruel with the blind drops, but short enough that I didn't really get frustrated!
cute game with nice looking aesthetic and music! -L
Dang, The Devil's got an unbelievable strut. Goin' home after a long day at work, right into the sewer and then directly to hell.
I know there's not a lot to the game at the moment, but what's there is pristine. Again, the swagger in the walk, the colors, the entire city on the surface. This is the prettiest sewer level in history!
Great art style. Lots of polish on the animations. I like the concept of a platforming game where you're trying to fall down.
I'm not sure I like the idea of going back to the beginning if I choose the wrong path when there's not much indication of what the right path is, but this could maybe work if the levels are short.
Great art!The home is really fun~
Cute game with cool aesthetics! A tiny bit short but it worked fine with the more puzzle feel of figuring out the way. Music also quite nice, and the concept/setting is great! A pretty nice take on the theme. For controls I'd like to have a separate hand for jump (like arrow keys + space), which was somewhat possible by using W to jump. Just a little unintuitive. Overall great visuals and quite immersive, and great music and atmosphere!
Hello everyone, I'm so excited with your feedback, thank you! So, I don't have the habit to write or speak in English, I will try my best!!!
So thanks for the compliments about the game "aesthetic" @jormundly, @carolineli , @zjuwindking, @drgrognak, @allie-vera, @nyxkn, @magnesiumninja, @mavvy, @matthew545 we can't be more happy!
About the short game design is the first time when me and @marce think in a gameplay, so we try not overblow @anderson-job-loeffler mind hahaha, calling him every time when we need a help, even this though a few hundred times hahaha, as @anderson-job-loeffler said before we assume "W" as a default button to jump, I don't know why, I will think more in it at the next time!
@matthew545 Thank you for the feedback about the path, I really appreciate it and makes me think more about the gameplay, about the animations @anderson-job-loeffler and @Marce are really good artists.
@mavvy Wow, I believe you made a better description for the game then us! I'm glad to read, we put much from our efforts on the game "vibe".
@carolineli I hope make a major content in the future! Thanks for your feedback again.
@allie-vera Another point of view is important for our lives, it makes us reflect better hahahaha!
@nyxkn Hello friend! Thanks again!
Great devilish concept ;)
Thank you @pusheeneiro!
Really nice little game, I think it could do with some sound effects and music, but the graphics are spot on. Extending this out would be really cool too. Really good effort!
Tiny cute lovely game, good ^_^
Really well made - wish it was longer.
@chrisbeck, you're right, we could have polished the music a little bit more and could have made some more sound effects. There's definitely room for improvement. Appreciate the feedback!
@xpoho, @nevercontent, thanks so much! We're happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Thanks for your compliments and feedback @chrisbeck, @xpoho and @nevercontent. we appreciate it. For some us that's the first time when we build a game, so your feedback means a lot for us, we was focused in explore a small scoupe to avoid possible "distractions", but I completely undestand that feeling of "short trip" :).
I can't be more excited for the future jams!!!
Nah, it's kinda the right length tbh, because there are too many games to try... It's enough to show your skills.
I feel the game very punishing. Hard for nothing. I know it's a sort of die and retry but I didn't find very...motivating. It's kinda sad because the aesthetic looks cool.
HOME IS WHERE HELL IS
Awesome music, very depressing and dark. Though it took me an embarrasingly long time to figure out the jump to the position shown on your second screen. And Devil's commute is a very strong argument for remote work, gotta say!
Thanks for your feedback @butterflan, we really appreciate it! I hope be a better job at the next time.
@klinsmannhengles Obrigado pelo comentário!!! Foi a primeira jam minha e da @marce, então o foco era entregar um projeto que julgamos "redondo" hahaha, novamente parabéns pelo excelente trabalho de todos vocês no Kika!
@dzejpi hahaha thank u buddy! You are right, remote work is better! I'm glad that you like the game!
Beautiful and atmospheric graphics. The theme is well-executed too. Great job!
@indiealesha Thanks for your kind words, we are really happy with game feedback
Wow this is ultra polished ! Very short tho but i can totally understand why, gamefeel is really nice and art and music are good and polished. Good Job !
@monogatari This comment warms my heart friend! Thank you! We appreciate your enthusiasm.
awsome graphics and fun gameplay!
@dywanix Thank you friend!
I liked the simple interactions and the visuals and audio were very high quality. I did accidentally chose the right path without falling off anywhere on my first try. So it only took a couple of seconds to play the game. That made me a bit confused too.
I had to reload the page to try again and fail some. It would have been nice with a try again button once getting to the win screen.
After failing on purpose one time I then actually failed 5-10 more times before reaching the goal again. And that play-experience was much better than accidentally completing the game on speed run time. So perhaps the game could have been a little longer to lower the risk of accidentally completing it on first go.
Other than that, I think it did what it set out to do very well. Good entry. (I was recording myself playing but I'm an OBS noob and accidentally recorded the wrong window so unfortunately no video of me playing)
@local-minimum Thanks a lot for playing and for the awesome feedback, my friend — it really means a lot to us! During our internal tests, we saw a bunch of players picking the right path super fast! 😄 Next time, We are planning to add a lot more content! Once again, thanks for the kind words and support!
Fun little game and the graphics are gorgeous. Took me a while to realize what path to take in order to get to the correct finish. The controls felt nice, the only real improvement I can think of is that it would've been nice to see further down, the camera's positioning made aiming needlessly hard.
@jnur, we're glad you liked it, thanks for the kind words! It really didn't cross my mind to adjust the camera further down, it makes perfect sense, thanks for advice!
I love the walk animation and art style. Cute ending screen as well :)
Great game art, music and gameplay sadly It's a little short but I can understand because it was in a 72 hour time frame Great Job :)
Great game but I would like more gameplay
This is the hell ahah
Very beautiful pixel art and music! As others have said, short, but a good submission regardless!
@cammyrnn @jamesgames1000 @maybeagoose @morepixels
Hello everyone, thanks for all the kind words, we are glad, your feedback and enthusiasm means a lot to us!!!!
Really cute and funny little platformer with great visuals! Controls felt good too. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer :D
@bene-labs Thanks, my friend! We really appreciate your kind words. I totally understand your desire for more content hahaha. But the devil needs to go home soon 😅. Next time, we hope to create more substantial content for the game.
It's the first time for me and @marce building a game, so our main goal was just to avoid blowing @anderson-job-loeffler 's mind hahaha.
I liked: graphics.
Didn't like it: there is little content.
Сool concept and style. The sound is vibey, but not enough)) Good job
The graphics are cool. The music is also quite addictive. I really liked that you can play with one hand. I had to learn the whole road to Hell, of course, but the theme is beautifully implemented. There are a couple of unpleasant moments in the level design. Because of this, sometimes losing feels like it's not the player's fault but the level design's. It was a surprise that the level is so small. It seems like it could have been made ten times bigger with checkpoints and such. In any case, very cool.
@palvel, @karamelika22 – thanks so much for playing! Really appreciate your feedback.
@kurakurture – I totally agree with you. We could’ve improved the level design. Since it was the first jam for both @marce and @juliocezar, our main goal was just to finish the game, no matter how it turned out haha. Game design is definitely something we’ll focus on more next time. Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback – we’re really happy you enjoyed the graphics and music!
HAHAHA I can 'relate' to the game, especially after the workday I had today... Some days it feels like I work in hell too hahaha. The game is really cute—I loved the art and the colors. I just had a little trouble understanding the objective at first, but if I got it right, it’s about going as deep as possible without getting sucked into the portal, right? Thought it was really cool, and I loved the soundtrack haha, Plis do more levels!
The pixel art and the mood came together really well in this game. It took me a while to understand what to do though and for some reason I didn't realize `W` meant jump and that you could move in mid air (though that's probably on me).
nice little game with great graphics. Well done.
Short and sweet! Super solid in that it was no sort of friction what so ever. I found the controls right away, I understood what I was suppose and I wasn't confused along the way. I other word well scoped! The animations were great and the whole look, color scheme etc. is super consistent. Well done!
Really short, but i love the style of the game! Art and Music are great! Controls can feel a tad bit unresponsive at times though.
Great little game! The pixel art, music, and overall vibe really came together to create a cohesive and enjoyable experience. Nice job!
Short and sweet. Very polished, nice art and music, good job!
I wish the game was a bit longer, somehow I managed to pick the right path first try. The music is really nice and the graphics are well done, I love the walk animation :)
Solid concept, eye-candy visuals, and nice music. I dig the design of the Devil too. The animations especially feel buttery smooth, and the controls - appropriately responsive. Baked to perfection, but criminally short. Would have loved to see at least one more section to really drive the whole thing home.
One change I think would work to the benefit of the player would be to reposition the camera to show a bit more space below the character, so that it's not all just a full-blind guessing game, but a little bit of level assessment too!
Oh, that is such a fun concept, it's a shame it is so short... Maybe I also got lucky with the holes I chose because I got to the end on my second try. But it works perfectly as a demo for a much longer game. I would love to play more levels, to be honest ;) Every bit of it is super polished! Great entry
The art is great! I think it is a little bit frustrating, that one has to start from the beginning all the time (although with this short length it doesn't matter that much). Art, storytelling and music are really nice! Well done!
