Wow. This game is the whole package. I love the visuals, sounds, music, and a very fun game to boot! I like the management aspects of it and balancing getting further with powering up your guns. I would love to play an expanded version of this game, maybe even for mobile or something! Seriously, great job.

2017-08-01 04:22

Super cool game, where do you get more power?!

mahalis 2017-08-01 04:22

This is cool! The aesthetic is really eye-catching—great retro feel. Nice use of physics when the train gets blown up. It’s a little light on depth (unless there’re more types of crate to pick up? I didn’t live long enough to find out), but it’s fun managing the turret power against the incoming enemies. Nice work!

sno0w 2017-08-01 04:34

This game was a little tricky to understand at first. I thought I had to control the turret, but soon discovered that it was automatic and I would use the mouse. The extra modules are rare and I am unsure if I like that or not. The enemies were well designed, but having larger drones that shoot two bullets or something would be very cool. Or maybe a module that has a shield that deflects bullets. This game is artistically beautiful and amazingly designed. 9/10

kichex 2017-08-01 05:23

" Tower-Defense / Infinite-Runner / Resource Management hybrid." you bought me in from the start hahaha, great and simple game. Well scoped to bring a good game. Excelent!

anno 2017-08-01 05:33

Really great game. Everything just fits together. This 80's retro style really got me! The sound was awesome too. This could be a great mobile game ;)

reax 2017-08-01 05:41

Very fun game, beutiful graphics

valter 2017-08-01 05:43

A simple game that impresses me with its aesthetics, I may be wrong but I think it would be interesting to put how much time is left for the next checkpoint.

gengi 2017-08-01 05:44

@aurynsky-games There are check points every 200 distance that restores your energy and health. It's a struggle to get there on a first play. But you'll pick up the rhythm for it in no time.

@sno0w Actually you can focus fire on a target by clicking on it. We also had ideas for more energy management devices. But being unsure of the fun/game balance factors, we opted to keep it simple. There is however an enemy that'll boost the challenge factor if you manage to live long enough.

pianoman373 2017-08-01 05:51

Really great game and concept. Could be a really nice mobile game. The only problem (with me at least) is that the grid + fast movement can really strain the eyes. I know there isn't much of a way to get around this and still keep the 80's style but it does affect how long you can play.

hijomo 2017-08-01 05:53

I enjoyed this. Great idea. Fun play, nice sound, flashy cube explosions. Very nice work.

ashment 2017-08-01 05:56

Awesome visuals, cool music and fun gameplay. Impressive work. I would have liked a bit more interactivity and variety when it comes to enemies, but overall, amazing.

will-walters 2017-08-01 06:04

Really great aesthetic, the retrowave graphics with the whole train/vagabond thing with the music find a weird sort of balance, even if they don't really mesh. It's interesting, though, which is what matters. I wish I could be a little more active while playing it, but the strategy of it is really interesting. It's deeper than it appears on the surface, though it seems really simple.

hazza 2017-08-01 06:10

Love the visuals and the music! Cool idea with power distribution

phillip 2017-08-01 06:19

like the theme a lot

sanjeev 2017-08-01 06:21

This is a fun concept; having to juggle the power between turrets and moving the train quicker is a fun problem to have. The aesthetic is great, though maybe a little too much for me. I also love the details like the destructible environment. Nice work!

chrissiq 2017-08-01 06:50

Very nice visuals! Interesting concept and fun gameplay. Good work.

marc-grabow 2017-08-01 06:54

Very nice tron-style game, great gameplay idea!

Even though it is simple it took me a minute to understand that I have to pick up boxes. And I still don't understand if it is possible to get more energy somehow?

Idea for extension: If you add more resources (like ammunition, cars that create ammunition etc) and zoom out more you could build a train that has a lot of different components that the player needs to setup correctly to work together.

All in all nice game and I really dig the retro-arcade style, well done!

lumous 2017-08-01 07:29

Great job! Fun and challenging! Takes a bit to understand, but once you get it its cool.

turbotfish 2017-08-01 08:33

Nice job, loved the visuals & UI :) great retro vibe. As others mentioned, it sometimes lacks a couple feedbacks, but you get used to it pretty quickly. It does not need much to be played without reading the explanations! Would be nice to play a version with more content!

bazoo 2017-08-01 12:31

The turrets rotate way too slow to keep up with some of the cars, especially when they somehow cross the rails to the right side, and since they have to lock the objective first, they just stand there without shooting for a while. Also, there are some blindspots that bullets can't reach because they collide with the own train engine car.

Graphics looks pretty awesome. The idea of mixin TD/endless runner is pretty cool and the gameplay fits well with the theme. Audio its fine. Overall it's pretty good, but the things described in the first paragraph mess me up.

belser 2017-08-01 16:46

What a great submission. With a little polish you could easily sell it. Nice work!

ramou 2017-08-01 18:31

After the second time, i understand the game. I'm lost at 318m. It's good? Lol great job, good game and interesting gameplay of tower defense

webster 2017-08-01 18:33

Graph & sound are awesome

You can improve the game with an other management, because the game play really too much alone, and the aiming is not sharp enough, then it's not a good strat to take a lot of ressources ;)

If i stay with 4 ressources for shot and max speed, this is a too good strat, and then i have to wait a lot for being killed.. :(

but wow, the graphics are just awesome

webster 2017-08-01 18:33

hishicorne 2017-08-01 18:47

This is a wonderful game with amazing graphics and sounds. Enemies are cool, and the concept is fantastic ! Love the isometric view.

I hope you'll make an enhanced version of the game with more enemies, more maps, more customization, more, more... But at the moment, I enjoy a lot this version ! Great job !!

artur-hawkwing 2017-08-01 18:47

I really like the graphics and audio! I did find aiming a bit tough, but I am running on limited RAM / CPU, and it was not too bad anyway. Very fun, and a great idea!

alexanderteah 2017-08-01 18:53

I loved it, great entry! 10/10

bart 2017-08-01 19:00

I had rough start, but after a moment I was getting better, very nice game, fabulous visuals but one thing I wish to see is displaying UI overlay of each turret behind it - so I can see all turrets shooting and switch faster between them - I had a feeling that middle one (when I had 3 of them) was blocking 1st car (it was hard to switch to change its power usage).

Maybe having UI at the bottom completely separated from the game would help? Turrets and train could be managed faster and my eyes could enjoy this convoy more with much clearer view. Good luck!

papykent 2017-08-01 19:03

Amazing graphics and music! Idea is very nice and goes well with the theme. As others said, it might lacks a bit of visual feedback so we know that focus on an ennemy is possible and be able to react when we have low battery.

Really great job guys!

gamepopper 2017-08-01 19:05

I love the music and visual design, the titlescreen alone looks amazing and feels very creative. Brilliant use of theme by constantly managing your battery consumption between the train and guns. The game uses too much memory for my web browser but this worked great on my PC. Really enjoyed this one, particularly on repeat plays.

pedrowzee 2017-08-01 19:37

Takes a little getting used to, but then it's hard to stop playing!

bonelazy 2017-08-01 20:04

Great graphics and audio and overall a very polished and fun game. However, I would like to be more in control. Very good job nonetheless :)

ohmaigawd 2017-08-01 21:26

Great aesthetics :) I like the way you implemented the theme and made it interesting by having to juggle resources between the gun and the drive. Makes it fun to try different strategies to see what works best.

kungkras 2017-08-01 22:49

Amazing presentation and concept.

everbrave 2017-08-02 07:15

Oh man, this is awesome! Great work on this. The visuals are really great. At first I thought there weren't going to be enough options to make any gameplay feel meaningful but you pulled it off. Couldn't outrun that laser tank thing, but I'm kind of glad because it was awesome! lol Sound is great. Loved the music. Felt pretty tight and polished. Nice entry!

jesper-fyhr-knudsen 2017-08-02 13:45

Very impressive, looks and sounds good and is fun too, what more to ask :)

herniewise 2017-08-02 13:55

Good job, love the visuals!

bombjack 2017-08-02 14:09

the art is great, the idea is real good but there is too few things to do.

narudgi 2017-08-02 14:16

Excellent game, the art is great and the fun is here :D even if I don't like the music, and this is hard to understand at first

mrchippy 2017-08-02 14:19

Good a s t h e t i c. You should have slowed down the music for me a s t h e t i c. The game looked really nice. It would have been a good idea to have a bit of a tutorial because it got kind of confusing at times. This is a really creative idea and it works really well. I agree with the people that say you should expand it and make it into a phone game or something. I would definitely play that.

mr-marcgenesis 2017-08-02 14:37

CHOO CHOO! All aboard the top 10!

The visual, sound, style (80s baby!), mix of genre... everything just ticks. Overall one of the best game considering it feels complete. Phenomenal job!

saucygames 2017-08-02 14:50

Plays very well, love the art style and gameplay, only thing missing is a way to regain your power (Which I'm sure you guys are adding) I look forward to seeing this go further. Great game.

raaaahman 2017-08-02 15:00

What a cool game. The idea fits the theme very well, finding the best strategy take some trial and error which is good. I like both the graphics and the music even if they seems to take totally opposite directions.

battle-buddy 2017-08-02 15:04

The design is really well done. Looks like you have a strong team set up!

The novelty it cool, but I feel like there isn't much to the gameplay: it's either a trivial autopilot or rush to the end.

merwaaan 2017-08-02 15:28

Love the colors!

sbeif 2017-08-02 16:21

Gorgeous graphics and music. This was really beautiful and well made. I just felt maybe a bit too constrained by the energy consumption and it left me with little to no choice. But maybe that's just me, in tower defense I usually like to upgrade stuff and have many choices. Great job anyway!

pixelproductions 2017-08-02 17:05

Nice Job ! I liked the graphics and the idea :D

reggnos 2017-08-02 17:27

Visuals are sooo aesthetic i love them. Plus the game is really fun micromanaging your energy is super fun. Had a blast playing it.

pitpony 2017-08-02 17:54

Fantastic! The graphics are stunning. I think the player should given control of firing the turrets. The said, I do like the slow pace of the game - its very relaxing :)

theonethatneverwas 2017-08-02 18:24

Very entertaining game. It is very polished and the gameplay is fun and simple. Congratulations to the team!

ganbaregameskyle 2017-08-02 20:33

That music just doesn't fit with the visuals.

boats 2017-08-02 21:09

@pitpony It's not immediately obvious (I was hoping the title screen would convey you can control the turret), you're able to direct the turrets fire by clicking on enemies. We thought forcing the player to have full 100% control would be too much to manage.

simonhutchinson 2017-08-02 22:09

This is a great idea, and I love the vaporwave aesthetic (maybe the music could have gone in that direction too). There's a bit much going on for me to balance. Perhaps a tutorial level would help cut down on the steep difficulty curve.

kakureta 2017-08-02 22:35

Sick visuals and awesome style, gameplay is a little hard to grasp at first but I liked it!

sir-daniev 2017-08-02 23:04

Cool game with a interesting design a mix of settings, a cybertronic western. Took me some time to understand what to do in the beginning but was a nice one. Congrats.

felixmcfelix 2017-08-02 23:52

Certainly nice to look at, but I don't think I had too much fun with this. Getting more upgrades felt a little too random for my tastes. It was pretty well produced though, good work!

logicon211 2017-08-03 02:57

Fun game! I had some issues in one of the runs where I kind of didn't get any extra cars, but I realize that almost didn't matter as the main point was to make it to the next checkpoint to get your power back. The game looked and sounded great but was a little difficult to progress. With a bit of balancing I'd say this could be a pretty solid game, seems like it would work well on mobile and I noticed you put out an android build.

loadsofmana 2017-08-03 06:29

Very nice art, and i love the aspect of managing a finite resource

mihai-vartolomeu 2017-08-03 07:49

I like the Tron look of the game and the cool soundtrack. I would have enjoyed to have control over the turrets so I could engage more with the game, but overall good game!

jtn191 2017-08-03 15:46

cool game! love the visual design. If I could change anything, I'd use more 80's synth sound styles for the sfx and music. You could go NES style or Daft Punk & Moog style. A western soundtrack with 80's synths would be awesome! Also, controlling the guns power vs speed would be interesting. For some reason, the angled health bar kind of bugged me. It'd be cool to see hills/bumps with that grid terrain! All in all, impressive for the time constraints! PS I got to 859m!

hhsaez 2017-08-03 16:36

Nice game. I like the mechanics. It took me a while to figure out that I could click on the black/white boxes to upgrade the train. Maybe you should add some indicator. The art is great, although the audio grow old quickly for me. Great job!

coomzy 2017-08-03 19:14

Nice game worked really well, got into it, very polished. I think the way you manage power could have been done better... not sure how maybe if keyboard could change them so train power up/down 1/2 maybe or something but that is a pretty minor detail, really good game. It said in the credits "boss", I got 600m+ but didn't see it, which if there is a boss, shame I didn't get to see it.

lamm 2017-08-03 20:36

great game, you did a good job

mianagames 2017-08-03 22:19

Great game. Fantastic art. Neon visual is amazing.

d-studios 2017-08-03 22:25

This game is pretty nice. First of all, I liked the innovation of the game and that you guys combined the whole tower defense, infinite runner, and resource management genres together. I also liked the Western soundtrack as it was interesting to listen to and it wasn't repetitive unlike other Ludum Dare entries. I however strongly suggest you guys to opt out of humor as this game doesn't seem like it was meant to be funny. In conclusion, I like your guys' creativity explosion and audio, but you should really opt out of humor.

kapricorn-media 2017-08-03 22:47

Simple premise but finely conceptualized! Loved the retrowave reference in this, fits perfectly!

terribly-awesome-games 2017-08-04 03:56

The aesthetics were the strongest thing going for me. I found the gameplay good, but somewhat passive and repetitive. Conceptually it made sense, but I spent a lot of time waiting for the next turret box.

michaeltwg 2017-08-04 05:54

Very nice ! Graphics are excellents, gameplay is simple but very enjoyable and it so cool to earn a new wagon!

xavier-indie-gamedev 2017-08-04 06:55

I agree with what the others are saying about the controls being a bit confusing initially (I thought I was controlling the turret) - maybe there should be some feedback when you click? It was also a little bit difficult (always make game jams on the easier side is what I've learnt haha).

But this game was still really fun and has so much potential! I really really like how its bringing all these different genres together in a unique way. The sound and visual design is also fantastic. I hope you continue work on this and bring it to mobile devices! :D

donvermo 2017-08-04 10:47

Great submission, I took me a while to figure out what it was that I exactly needed to do but it became clear soon enough. Sadly on both my runs I ran into game breaking bugs so I never managed to find out if there are more enemy types as you go on.

The first bug I encountered was that when I only had two turrets the train would arrive at the checkpoint, refil it's health but wouldn't refill my energy and would then just sit there until I died.

The second time around I got a bit further but the train randomly stopped moving once I got to 4 turrets (but they still fired)

Not entirely sure If I am missing some kind of mechanic though.

jusw85 2017-08-04 12:41

Nice retro aesthetic and music! I found it easy to pickup and play, but hard to master. I only got to 950m after a couple of tries. I think it would've been helpful if there were keyboard controls to quickly toggle up and down the power required of various modules, cause clicking is sometimes too slow.

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-04 12:52

Really nice neon mood. Simple, but really fun idea of gameplay, with amazing neon graphics and fun sound effects. Seems to be polished(I really enjoyed when I clicke Play button and train shoot at it), have not found any bugs, while playing. Good Job!

andreu 2017-08-04 16:38

Nice job. This has a strong "Futuristic 80s" mood which is one of my favorites :)

tayopi 2017-08-04 19:23

Great looking game. I also really liked the soundtrack. The mechanic is really interesting. If you continue to develop I think it would be really interesting to have a bunch of different turret types.

teammonumental 2017-08-04 19:58

This game has one of the best aesthetics I've seen and it was extremely eye catching. Also, the start animation is a really nice touch. The idea is awesome and fits into the theme well. The cubes that spawn were kinda rare for me and they maybe could have been modeled to show that it would add another turret to the train. Overall it's a great entry!

srolfe657 2017-08-04 22:31

Wow! you guys nailed it, this game was amazing, please do something more with it! I'd buy the crap out of this lol.

rikoclon 2017-08-05 04:14

The vaporwave visuals did not fit the traditional train game music. It looked great but why not make vaporwave music for a game that so strongly suggest this theme in the visuals. I, like most, thought I was going to be aiming at first. My reaction to the game aiming for me was extreme loss of fun. I got some power ups and played with the speed but there was nothing really fun about that for me. the grid was annoying at top speed. If the texture changed based on the speed you were going that would have looked awesome. I liked the amount and varieties of enemies but felt pretty helpless, not being able to aim or choose when to fire. the obstacles were a nice touch. The design worked nice, but the theme really seemed like it was an after thought. Also why speed up the train if it makes you die quicker? seems like life expectancy is random here, which depletes the feeling of accomplishment when you do well, cuz you were just lucky. Similarly if you don't make it far its the games fault for providing the bad luck. I personally would avoid this, but its up to you obviously. I would have liked to do the aiming, firing, and managing at once, also an ammo count and ammo pickup is the next step in my eyes. a power up for the turret's firepower would be a nice addition as well. Great job making something that feels complete.

pnghasemi 2017-08-05 07:37

Felt good to play! Keep polishing the game after the Ludum Dare. It would be better if we could see how many meters is left to the next charge station. so we could manage our resources to make sure we can make it to the next station.

sagarpatel25700 2017-08-05 09:14

- It was really fun to play this game - i like the graphics and sound of this game very much

sergei-ryzhov 2017-08-05 13:51

yeah, really fun game. Great job with balancing.

solah 2017-08-05 19:09

Very interesting game but the gameplay is difficult to understand.

almax 2017-08-05 21:17

Stunningly presented game, interesting mechanics but I found controlling the power levels of the train quickly prone to error, would have preferred them mapped to keys as well. Otherwise solid entry, nice work!

goloso-games 2017-08-05 22:04

I am not a fan of tower defense games, but I have to say I enjoyed playing yours : the game mechanics with the battery is an interesting idea. Graphics are really good, great work in only 2 days !

offz 2017-08-06 02:52

This is more of a subjective comment. I like the game overall but the concept gets sorta repetitive after a short time. It's for sure a game that I'd give a good rating to, but unfortunately not a game that I would come back to every day. Otherwise, great work, definitely one of the better games I've seen so far. Hope to see you next Ludum Dare!

surovyi 2017-08-06 09:40

Hey! Like the game! The music is so attractive and the gameplay is very adorable. It's fun and stylish. What do you need more from the jam game! Great job! :steam_locomotive:

mgpxl 2017-08-07 06:11

Very beautiful visuals and fun gameplay. However, I feel that the blues/country and western acoustic feel of the music doesn't really match the 80's outrun aesthetic of the visuals. The game over explosion really needed a sound effect as well. Otherwise, this was a great game.

peachtreeoath 2017-08-07 06:39

Really enjoyed the concept of train upgrading and resource management. Would've been cooler to have some more control over what types of weapons to use so that more interesting decisions could be made, but it was good for the span of the jam. Of course the visuals and presentation are top notch. They go a really long way here.

yetman 2017-08-07 13:06

The neon tron-style visuals are so great but the ground was so eye-catching that it took my eyes some time to adapt and clearly see other objects like enemies. The music and SFX are also great. I had fun with the gameplay. A possible extension to the game is to add upgrades so that the train upgrades can purchased using points collected in each run.

hbocao 2017-08-10 01:47

Damn, it's nice to look at it! I loved the "western" music merging with the scifi graphics and sound effects. The game it's pretty fun too! I had a blast with it. I can totally see this being a full game. Add some powerups, some events, adjust the balance... just keep working on it!

ethan-kennerly 2017-08-12 15:36

5 stars! When I clicked a crate to add a car, I felt excited! The moment when I would continue to play is when I ran out of power, I wasn't sure what I could have done to conserve power. I saw the battery percent, which I interpreted as the amount of power the unit had. I increased this percent on the units but my overall battery points then dropped to zero.

hadesfury 2017-08-15 10:07

I really like it :) it's was fun, pretty, hard, .. good entry

coauctor 2017-08-17 11:51

The gameplay is too simple for me, however, it was interesting to shoot enemies for some time. Also, the music feels a little bit out of place with such visual style.

Thanks for the game!

franfox 2017-08-17 12:17

Hi! A nice game here! Maybe a correction on the color palette would improve the visualization of the enemies because it's hard to see for me with the actual setup. As your game has a very retro-futuristic style I think that the soundtrack should join to the visuals to improve the general mood. Congrats!

imphenzia 2017-08-18 07:12

Looks cool and I love the color combo =) For some reason magenta and cyan brings to mind memories back from my CGA days. I found the game play to be a bit passive (or maybe I just misunderstood it all?) Over all though, polished entry and nice effort!

ddsfloko 2017-08-19 17:10

Very cool game, i really liked. The art, gameplay and audio work very well. Congratulations guys.

ruerob-hyky 2017-08-21 22:29

I really really like the graphics and the music and the sound effects but somehow I was to dump for the gameplay! haha! :0) But I still enjoyed playing your game and therefore I thank you! :0)

mukult 2017-12-05 07:22

Amazing graphics and loved the gameplay too. Takes a while to understand the gameplay.
