The game is so much better with the rain than without :) I especially liked the puzzle-aspect of the mechanism, like making you "float" above spikes and such.

Nice creation
Cute game, with a very nice soundtrack and fun mechanics! I can't really put it into words... but somehow this game evoked some very nostalgic feeling in me. Like the curiosity I had when playing a game for the first time as a kid. One of my favorite LD entries ever, I think. Just wish there was more of it
Nice game, I like the level design, and it's fun to play. And the rain effect works in the web version, but only in fullscreen, so not much of a problem.
Looks great, and the music is amazing! Great level design, art & animations.
Your game is so cute. The pixel art is great and the gameplay is very fun. I also don't want to get wet in the rain ^^
Very cool game, the graphics are simple but great and the music is also phenomenal. Great Job!
I love the concept! I was forced to try and break the game a bit, and the only thing I managed to do was drop the character and during the fall activate the zone move, which allows me to control the cube down and sideways at the end of my jump if I activate it during my jump :D
Love the art, I'm always a sucker for that bright day, green grass, classic almost snes look. I got stuck a few times early on because I relied on the area you control as a platform, but after I stopped doing I was good. I wonder if the game could work with wasd to move and arrow keys to move the box at the same time? could be interesting. OH and I was super curious, did you write this song in the 48 hours? if so congrats for sure, I always put off music until the very last and its super rushed complete.png
what a cute game. I think you implemented the theme in a creative way. Nice audio and I love the rain ^^
Very cool music and general mood! If I may have a suggestion, the controls need some rework because it's hard to navigate between moving the player and moving the box: first make the jump button on W or up, and if the player presses that button in box move mode, he should automatically switch to player mode and jump.
Very great game! Good job, the mechanic is a good idea :)
Awesome game! The story is charming, the concept is clean, the agme is simple, you can kinda cheese the umbrella by jumping unsure if intended or not, and I wish there were more levels but overall a nice little project for LD!
This was a lot of fun to play! I especially like being able to lock out the enemies to get past them. I did get stuck relatively often, which happened because I fell of something and was being pushed into the square, so adding a soft reset button was a good call. Maybe this could be improved by only checking whether one touches the floor of the square so it can still be moved sideways? I think all of the puzzles would work the same, at least so far. Overall a very solid entry :)
Oh, also I noticed that at least for me on HTML5 the rain doesn't render, but that's a minor thing ;)
@mz-eth Thanks for playing! Yes, music was done during the compo time. I spent probably as much time with the music as I did with the rest of the game. :)
@peacememories Thanks for playing! Someone mentioned that the rain renders in HTML5 build if you go full-screen. I thought originally that the rain doesn't work at all in HTML5, but apparently it does!
The rain effect is so fun, and graphics very cute! I would've enjoyed this a lot if it was a multiplayer game where both players can move simultaneously (one is moving the screen while the other one moves the character), but it obviously works like this as well
I'm so glad I read comments after I first tried the game because otherwise I would have missed the rain and it makes the game look way cooler! Very good idea and the art is great!
Great game! This is a very good take on the theme, with a limitation turned into a strength. Amazing music, great art and great overall. It reminds me a lot of windowframe, which is probably the best game I ever tried in all game jams I joined (see https://managore.itch.io/windowframe ), but with a simpler mechanic. The only "problem" I see is that it can be a bit frustrating to get stuck and starting over so I would suggest keeping the levels a bit on the shorter side
Nice game, I really enjoyed how it looks and how jumping feels! The game ran without any issues for me.
It would be curious to see some hardcore levels designed around tiny playable window that really test your puzzle-solving skills. 😁
I'm glad I played it. Thank you!
Cute game and a creative way to implement the limited space constraint!
Really neat concept! Got a bit stuck at first but when I realized I could use the bottom of the umbrella area as a platform it all came together in a really fun experience.
I like the mechanic's concept and the art is really cute, the music is great and the game as a whole has a great upbeat mood that I love.
I think the mechanic has some minor issues, it's a bit tedious to move long distances so it would be nice if there was some mechanism to move with the player, the level design mostly avoids the issue and there arent too many long distances, which is great design and shows you were thinking about the limitations of the mechanic in level design!
Controlling the box is a bit annoying at times, I've seen similar games to this one use dual control schemes where you can move characters and the extra mechanic simultaneously which can be a bit overwhelming initially but is more deep and enjoyable once you get better at the mechanic.
Finally the level design is pretty solid, theres some nice platformer fundamentals here done well, many jam games have poorly paced levels, or jumps that are tedious or annoying or with poor metrics, I didn't see any of that here and both levels flowed naturally to me. I think level design can be one of those things you only notice when it's bad, so I want to call out the fact this game does it really well!
Great submission!
@3mpty Thanks for the lengthy comment! Yes, the mechanic has some issues and if I were to re-do the game, I'd definitely do some changes to it. I'd really like to push the idea further without doing dual controls, just to to see what could be done. :)
Level design-wise, I initially had a longer corridor in the first level, but it was really cumbersome. Such a tiny play area requires certain design, and I'm glad to hear I managed to accomplish that - at least to some degree! I think a slightly larger box could be better, and combined with new mechanics like wall jumping and elevators / moving platforms could make it even more interesting.
I did it, I found all the buttons in both levels, the factory and its toxic fumes are stopped! Very cute graphics, the balls of yarn are just adorable. Sound design fit well with the design as well, I think the music fits well, and the sound effects also went well with the more cute retro look. Loved that!
Gameplay mechanic was a super smart take on the theme, it just fits so perfectly, of course, limited space and using that limited space to open up a whole world of puzzles, it's awesome! Level design worked great as well, the platform placement as guideposts where you could move next, that all fit together well. Had a lot of fun getting those more tricky buttons. Very beautfiful game, great job!
Very cool and unique mechanic, personally I've never seen it before and I think it's a really cool one. It fits the theme of the game perfectly, and the game got me really invested. Though after collecting 10 buttons I expected sth to happen instead of "Well I need 10 more buttons" ^^'' which made me feel like the game just restarted. Music is really cute, and the art is fantastic, the cute yarns are the reason I followed this game after seeing it in the posts during the active jam period ^^ I also love platformers, and rain, so ofc I liked it a lot :)
Switching between moving the character and the box felt really intuitive very quickly. I liked that the box acted as a safety barrier that stopped you from falling too far if you missed a jump.
The music and story is charming, and the camera mechanic was fun as well. I was looking forward to seeing how the buttons would save the day.
