How do I download the game? I'm only seeing a link of it's source online, but no way to download.

boje 2019-10-08 17:53

@itsdanidre click on the link, and there's a download button in the top right corner. Let me know if it doesn't work

Love the amount of.work that went into this

Didn't have anyone else to play with, so just played as one character. I really like the idea of creating your loadout from scratch each match, so you can have a different experience each time.

With the farming phase, it took me maybe three attempts to even work out what to do. I'd suggest putting the controls, and maybe an objective on screen to let the player know what to do at any one time. For example, when you start you could have a prompt FIND SCRAP and then once you've picked up a piece TAKE TO FACTORY. Once you get to a factory you could have a button prompt to let the player know they're going to add it to their character. I'd already forgotten the keys by the time I got to the factory, had to alt-tab back to this page to find out.

Also I wasn't clear what any of the parts other than the gun did? And I couldn't seem to attach two guns even though the instructions say I can. If it was clearer what the parts did before I installed them, then it'd make me feel more in control of my gameplay experience.

Another thing to think about would be having a single screen rather that split screen, and just zoom out as the players move apart. It might make the map easier to understand as a player (or it might suck, never know until it's tried I guess). The fighting stage could also take place on the same map, since the farming map has a lot more going on in terms of places to cover and hide than the fighting map.

Some really cool ideas in this game already, just needs a bit of tweaking to make it really great!

itsdanidre 2019-10-08 18:15

Okay, I got to play it. It is a bit limiting as I need to play wiht someone else in order to enjoy the game, other than playing with a bot. But cool system.

The only thing I did not like was multiple objects clumped together forcing me to get rid of the one stuck to me before getting the other. A bug, in Phase 2 before the countdown to fight, I can still shoot and destroy the other player before any of us have time to move.

Thanks for the feedback @joeshanahan. We came to the same conclusion about UI & Controls, that's clearly a point we should put more effort in next time. We're also aware about the 2 gun's glitch, the lack of time got us! About the splitscreen, we tested that with only 1 camera, if the two players go by their side, because the map is too big, we couldn't see anything (maybe a little map on the top would've made the deal).

We're glad you enjoyed our game, and we'll take note of your critics!

linkouille 2019-10-08 21:59

Sorry @nachtwitch we didn't had the time to had a bot to play alone but we tought that the game is funnier with a friend. There are few bugs but we tried to fix the most of it. But thank a lot for your feedback we will try to improve next time. @joeshanahan We had that type of camera during the fighting phase but during the farming phase the player would have been too small and hard to see when the two are one oposite side of the map. So the split screen was the solution we found. But you are right the farming phase is not easy to figure out even with the instruction a little promp could have helped. But thank you for this detailled feedback it's help a lot. @nachtwitch Haw that's too cute thank you.

The hardest part of this game was to find someone to play with. The only problem with the game is that it is a bit too hard to understand where to go and what is what. Me and my girlfriend we had to replay it 3 times to finally understand where it was the front of the factory and how to implement the weapons and stuff, so in the first few rounds we were kinda playing a coop game to try and learn it. Later it became fun to fight each other.

- Try and implement more clearly what areas of the game you can use to improve your robot. - A mini map would be nice. - Please add a restart button, in the end since we didn't have any weapons to kill each other we had to close the game and open it again. - Really good music.

Other than that, great game. Good job!

@hcursino Thanks for the feedback. We also found out the same issues, but 48h was a bit short for us. Next LD we'll try to focus a bit more about helping the player(s) to understand, and add little cool features as minimap.

We're all glad you both enjoyed our game!

oddsocks 2019-10-09 12:13

I had to play it solo! The amount of work that went into this game must have been huge! The art is fantastic, reminiscent of Don't Starve. Really loved the artwork :D The music was really great too. Solid smooth game play. The only downside I can think of right now was that there is no player vs computer. But as you only had a weekend to get it down, that doesn't surprise me!

If you do carry on working on it, PvC would be an awesome addition.

Probably the best LD game I've played so far, top stuff.

boje 2019-10-09 21:46

Hey @oddsocks, thanks for reviewing our game. We're glad you liked the game even with the lack of singleplay (as you said, even as 6, we were very short on time to add this feature, but we'll try to find time to team up again and *first fix bugs* and then add the PvC feature!). We are all super happy about your feedback, and we're very glad you enjoyed our game!

This is cool! I love the art - it's really vivid and comic-book-y. Nice work.

@mahalis Thank you very much for your comment, very happy to see that you found the game and the artstyle cool! That really satisfying to read! ✨

The *Kirby's Airride* City Trial concept is pretty interesting, and the graphics are really nice. The controls felt mostly smooth, and easy enough to learn. A lot of struggles we've dealt with had to do with the difficulty of figuring out how to attach parts to the player, as the location one needed to "touch" the factory was seemingly different for each factory. In addition, having the game played on a single keyboard was probably not a great choice, given that most keyboard have a "press at maximum 3 buttons at the same time" limit.

It was a little harder for us to judge the combat in the stream below, since the two of us who played (@allbetsareoff and I) were badly off-balance. That said, a few things were clear to us. For one, firing projectiles to a shielded player took too long. The turn-speed for each player, combined with a rapid-firing gun, often made propulsion not very useful. It would have been nice to see temporary blockades on the combat course to help the player avoid taking damage.

I played this game on stream with @Omiya-Games.

This game is pretty solid outside of a few critical issues. We had a lot of trouble firguring how to interact with the two buildings. It seems like there is particular spot next to the building you need go to, and it is not marked well enough.

The controls desperately need another pass. Moving around itself just doesn't feel very good. The fighting lacks feedback.

Even so, this game must of been just a ton of work to build in the time limit. The art is clearly hand-done by a talented artist, the music is good, and the mechanics, for all the problems they have, are very comprehensive for a ludum dare game.

@omiya-games and I had some trouble playing this on a single due to simultaneous key press limits, multiple controller support would have helped a lot.
