Hi Jin! I got to play your game! I liked the idea and the gameplay was fun. Graphics are amazing (as usual), and the sweet animations are cool to look at. I loved the music, it's a chill beat which I really enjoyed.

Maybe the movement speed could have been faster, but that's really my only "problem".

Also I think I experienced a bug. One time I got the bomb in the house No. 0, which I assume doesn't exist because I couldn't find it :D

jin9310 2021-10-04 19:49

@iluvatar thank you David for kind words :) The problem with movement is, that I have forgot to mention, that you can use SHIFT to run :D The issue with "0" is strange, yet I know about it, but wasn' t able to debug it properly before the release and as it happens only sometimes I will hope not many people will run into it :)

Overall the game is missing loads of stuff, but I am glad that at least pixelart and music is decent. Thank you for playing!

bauke-regnerus 2021-10-04 23:00

Fun little game. The pixel art is awesome! Music is pleasant too. The gameplay loop didn't hold my attention for a long time, but the concept itself is original.

oddsocks 2021-10-05 10:03

Well I really loved this little gem, playing it was a blast. The pixel art and music were dynamite. The few bugs there were really resonated with the theme :D

You achieved a lot in the limited time you had.

Top Compo entry Jin :raised_hands:

greenradiation 2021-10-07 11:24

Fun game, although the music and surroundings seem extremely cute and relaxing for a situation where you have to clear buildings :D

cogcomp 2021-10-07 19:05

Nice graphics and an interesting take on the theme. Well done!

nahuelito 2021-10-08 03:08

The visuals are really good, sadly I suck at it but that's on me. Well done!

sakura-magika 2021-10-09 01:54

i liked the visuals, but i found myself unable to play this very well. first i tried exploring to the right, and just found the end of the world, then died. then, i tried exploring to the left, looking for house #XYZ, but i walked so slowly, than i died before i could find it. i only managed to defuse one bomb in one house, the house right next to the starting point. and even when i tried to drop the bomb in the drop zone, the physics didn't behave the way i expected, and the bomb dropped behind me.

i would have been interested to explore more of the world that you built, but the slow movement speed and short timer to find bombs made it too difficult. also, as far as "fun-ness" goes, i don't think it's that fun looking for the right house, it feels really arbitrary to match the house to the number at the top of the screen. i think it would have been more engaging if the house actually had a visual indication that it got bombed.

victoriaogino 2021-10-09 02:01

The art is fantastic! I didn't realize you could run until I read the comments. That definitely made it a lot easier to play. Really fun game!

jin9310 2021-10-10 10:42

@sakura-magika Thank you for playing. I have just recently discovered that I am not reseting the timers of bombs, that means that even if you'd be perfectly finding all the bombs your would still explode quite fast. Luckily it is an easy fix that I will release after the jam ends. To your running issue, there is a "hidden" feature of holding shift for run. It is mentioned only on itch page of the game so it can be easily missed. I understand your point with finding the bomb and agree that it might be better to go bit more arcade-like approach, but I wanted to keep at least some sort of challenge for the player, so I want player to discover the house by the numbers. Also the world is not that big at the moment. But I get your point. Thank you for the feedback!

@victoriaogino @nahuelito @bauke-regnerus Thank you for playing the game!

@greenradiation I know right? :D I like to do such things actually. Thank you for playing.

@oddsocks Hey mate! Thanks a lot for your time and such a kind words!

bakuchi 2021-10-11 13:37

Very impressive for Compo! Love the art, but I found the gameplay a bit too buggy - hope you'll update it after the jam. Nice work overall!

lesinvisible 2021-10-11 16:31

There was some glitches, but the art syle and music are very pleasing and the idea seemed fresh to me. A solid entry.

jin9310 2021-10-12 06:18

@bakuchi thanks for playing. Yes the update is already beeing cooked and will be out soon after the jam. Most frustrating is the fact that I was just few libes of code from way better and less buggy version, but that is how jams works :)

@lesinvisible thank you for playing and kind words

gdesecrate 2021-10-12 21:45

Something wrong with timer I think. Couldn't get to most left building in time.

antbrl 2021-10-12 22:07

Interesting concept and great graphics.

Funny that the music contrasts a lot with the game objective, as I could not really feel the tension of the bombs on the verge of exploding. I also had an experience similar to @sakura-magika, did you want to add something on the right of the starting point?

With that said, I think it has potential to be a great game though, good job :)

barrier 2021-10-13 10:20

The art and sound are great! The gameplay feels unfinished, because even with running I couldn't get the bomb from the farthest house back to the drop off in time. Maybe I should have been throwing it off the edge of the map?

hawkin 2021-10-13 12:24

_"The game should be quite self explanatory, but it is far from perfect, so I tried to focus on some nice pixels and pleasing sounds."_ -- How funny, that's exactly what I ended up focusing on in my game! XD

As others have said, the artwork was top notch. All the details were amazing, down to the man's bouncing eyebrows. The music fit right with it, too.

I know as well that focus in one area detracts from others. In this case, the RNG was pretty harsh! You've already mentioned other known issues, so I won't repeat. Maybe you could always make the first bomb at the first house, as an easy tutorial? Obviously, a 10 second timer to get from any house back to the stationary drop zone is quite impossible. What if he had a little bomb disposal bot that followed him?

Again, beautiful game. I'm going to follow you to see what you come up with next!

jin9310 2021-10-17 10:26

@gdesecrate You are right, the timers are not reseting at the moment, that means that you are going to explode no matter what ... not a nice bug for sure, but I have a fix for that prepared for the after jam version already ;) Thanks for playing though!

@antbrl The contrast is really on puprose, but you are right that some "stress" factor would be nice, at least once you pick-up the bomb. I will try to keep that in mind for future refference and for the post jam version. And the idea was to have bigger village, with perhaps some random spawning of the buildings, but the scope would be already way to huge, so I kept the area open. Thanks a lot!

@barrier At this point you can literally drop the bomb anywhere and you are ok, there is a drop zone which gives you some points (that I am not showing anywhere :D). The idea was to get the bomb away from any building to prevent the explosion and collapse of the building, but again, no time for that. On my itch page there is a note that you need to hold shift for running ;) THanks for playing!

@hawkin THanks for kind words and it is really great to hear that someone noticed the little details ;) With that timer, it is not always 10 secs, your RNG was indeed just way too harsh. The problem is (as mentioned earlier) that if you would have made it, lets say 3 secs before the timer ends, the next bomb will start at 3 secs timer. I forgot to reset the timers. So yeah :D Anyway there will be a patch comming up, if you'd like to see it more complete. And I will be for sure making more games in foreseeable future so I will be more than glad to hear feedback from you again! Thanks a lot again, really appreciate the feedback.

dgspitzer 2021-10-18 09:59

I like the idea! The art of the game is very solid and neat. It's really hard to keep all houses from explosion though (I choose to jump off lol)

hengen 2021-10-20 10:20

cozy graphics and fun animation. I especially like the sound effect for the explosion haha. The happy slow music doesn't quite fit the terror and stress of holding a bomb in my hands, but other than that i really enjoyed the game!

Great job 10/10 would play again!
