nice game, also a hard game, but makes it interesting
Pretty hard game. Took me quite some time to interact with the reception(it's the E key) and to operate the stairs. But loved the concept and fits the theme really well.
I really felt like Asterix and Obelix. Sorry, it's to hard for me :) the idea is great and graphics are really cool!
Hey guys, thanks for the input! @anant-ahuja is added, the key slipped through the cracks, thanks for mentioning!
This was a really hard one! But I loved the idea incredibly much! Just one thing - getting up/down the stairs was such a pain in the butt, I overshot it so many times and had to come back and try it again. But at least it was a really nice stairs - the whole game is really nice to look at!
Haha, thanks for the feedback @tamail. Those *!&+*#! stairs are the bane of my existence.
The stairs got me quite frustrated at first, but I'm glad I stayed to see what's next. Really nice graphics, I like the idea, and reference to Kafka is a big yay in my book.
Thanks @loku, glad you like the idea and the style :)
Lol I want a sequel with tax doing! A controller input would be a nice addition, currently it only moves left and right. The title is great!
A very good recreation of the movie scene! The stairs are a pain though :(
Others have already talked about stairs, so there is not much negative comments to make. Sound is great, graphics are to the point. Nice submission.
Awesome... the moment I saw the title I had an inkling about what it would be about - and I wasn't disappointed! Spot on the theme. Love the art. Sounds were great. Top notch LD submission :raised_hands:
Cool game, thanks for making it! Was a bit hard to figure out the elevators though -- I tried to press E in front of it (probably just me being stupid). And agree with others about the stairs.
Very interesting design, however there is always a bit of trouble going up the stairs. I think that's why people like to take the elevator.
Amazing take on the theme! Really great level design and art. One suggestion I would give you is to make the tasks very simple and close to reception in the beginning and increase the complexity as the game proceeds. Otherwise, it's really confusing and demotivating when you have no idea how to get to the other place in the building. But maybe it's just lazy me.
In any case, great job!
Thank you. And you've got a point, sadly we don't have a bias for the selection of the tasks.
That’s an hilarious take on the theme ! Are you French ? It reminded me of a very famous French movie called Astérix haha. Also, the French bureaucracy is nightmarish so I can relate ! Probably the funniest game I played for this jam so far. Congrats :)
Édit : oh yes it is definitely inspired by Astérix, I just read your description haha
Buen juego
It was a fun game. I sometimes struggled with going up the stairs, but after I understood the map, it was more of a memory game. Graphics are amazing! Would love to see this game with randomly generated maps.
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Cool quest! Nice presentation and moody style.
I guess interaction can be improved. Stairs don't work each time for me... Interation with the clerk also wasn't smooth... Initially, I've struggled to initiate it.
So. TEDIOUS. XD If it wasn't the point, I'd be mad about it! But I can't be mad, because if I get mad then I'm going to be politely asked to leave, and then I'd have to start my tasks all over!
Woah, i absolutely love the color palette! Blues and purples in a background are super appealing. I also love how the character looks 3D when the rotate, hats off to the artist! Great work!
I like the look and the idea. It could be a really fun game to just poke at for a while and when you need to kill some time. The main thing I didn't care for was how hard it was to get on the stairs, the hitbox was a little to precise maybe. And I swear more than once I went to the counters in the exact order the clerk gave me and I was told I did it wrong. I'm not sure if that was a misunderstanding on my side or a bug. And the traversal of the different floors started to irritate me just a little bit, but I figure that was kind of the point in a way. It's definitely a creative take on the theme.
I liked the art style of this game... I was a bit confused at the stairs system. This game can be polished well. Good Luck for the updates!
I liked the art style and I thought the stairs mechanic was cool, even if it did require you do be a little more precise than some would like.
Your game is fantastic, well optimized, I liked the theme, a suggestion to leave the fullscreem button, accessible to be able to better enjoy the gameplay, and activate the functions on the joystick, because only a few work, I'll follow you there on the itch to follow your future evolution of that game, a big hug, congratulations again.
Wow, thanks for the very positive feedback! You`re totally right, the fullscreen option would be great but I had to disable it due to last minute problems with the UI :D Will make sure to get it right the next time.
I loved your game, super interesting concept. Stairs were a little pain to get on to. Maybe some clever way to remind you - not literally 'cause it could ruin the fun of the game - where you need to go? This game could definitely serve as a memory training tool :)
Really liked the floor map/zoom feature
Woah, I loved the art! very well made game!
I like the graphics! Very nice mood and fits the theme perfectly. Personally, I did not find the gameplay rewarding enough, but overall I think it's a very good game, congratulations!
Fun entry ! I liked the art style, the level design and the bits of dialogue. Also, props for that implementation of the theme !
Strengths : - Strong visual style - Fun dialogue and concept
Possible improvements : - Lack of visual feedback and confusing goal do not make for the best first impression. But then again, I missed the tutorial at first, so it's mostly my fault for being a dumbass
But all in all, great job ! I really enjoyed going with the flow of the game
Hey there!
Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope, etc, but I’m giving feedback assuming you would keep working in the game.
Could’ve been better:
- Controls could be easily be simplified
Right now you don't have any overlapping stairs, elevator and/or counters. So the controls can be simplified to:
- A/D - Movement - E - Enter Stairs/Elevator/Door
- It's not clear how you traverse from one side to the other, since there's no visible connection between elements.
- Camera movement is too sudden, smoothing/lerp it out can fix the problem (:
Good points:
- Lunareffect I loved the track! - The game concept scope seems to be about right
Just try to communicate the interactions within the game elements so it can be understandable out a glance. Remember the principle of "form follows function" and you guys should be good.
e.g.:
- Elevators only move up and down, so adding a floor displayer on top of the elevator indicating the current floor + arrow would solve the problem of getting lost while doing that. - Apartment doors signs could tell where the doors would lead to, etc...
I hope that is useful! Don't forget to like my comment in case it was helpful ♥
If you can, click on my profile and leave some constructive feedback on my game as well (:
Thank you <3
@nyunesu wow, thank you for the elaborate feedback! Don't think I've ever received feedback in such detail for ludum dare before. Highly appreciated. I'm also glad you liked the music. I got home from a long day of hacking and sat down for half an hour to create it, thinking there was a music category. Unfortunately there is only a sound category, so we didn't feel comfortable allowing ratings for sound. I'll be sure to check your game out tomorrow!
good pixel art and well balanced game, had fun playing.
Your game is very different and creative. The mechanics of decorating the sequence of rooms to be visited is also very interesting. The graphics are good as well as the sound. His interpretation of the theme is quite fun. Congratulations.
