Very exciting
Nice game, great visuals
Linux build crashes with "There is no data folder"
@marcmagus Thanks, I uploaded a new linux build now! I went a little crazy on the file renames.
Really cool game! I liked the style of the 2d characters in a 3d world.
I found a bug where you can go out the door to the left of the room with all the credits portraits. You fall out of the map and the game crashes.
Completed this little death fetch quest
Was quite sad about the characters, but oteherwise found this game well done
Thank you for that experience!
@matthew-mcclure Did you notice the sign that says "Quit Game" above the door? The game doesnt crash, it just quits :) I hope you had fun! Thanks
@firellon Thank you!
I really like the paper characters, there is a lot of potential, i just dont like quests like : "go get this", "now go get this too" but dont hear me wrong it was pretty nice ^^ ! good job !
I like controllin this 2d sprite in a 3d world, IDK why.. and it runs on linux!
Nice game. The flat characters is a concept I haven't seen before. Runs smooth. Thanks for making it.
Great graphics and music! I like how the music changed based on which character I talked to :)
I also love how it turned out to be a little dark, just by telling a simple story. Good job :)
The style of this game is just so fantastic. I really REALLY enjoyed every single second of it, when it ended I got so sad. I don't even know where to begin. But here are a few things that I found incredible: - The music combined with the voice acting is just phenomenal. One of the best sounding games I have encountered in my 14 Ludum Dares. - The combined 2d sprites in 3d space just works. It's not easy to accomplish this but you nailed it. - Most of the time a LD entry either has no humor or bad humor, this is one of very few exceptions to that rule, I genuinely found a lot of the lines funny.
It all ties together so well, thank you for making such an incredible experience!
Fitting music
I liked falling off the left side of the screen. The credits on the wall was cute. I didn't really care for the intro text--it feels unnecessary. I didn't want to kill the animals so I stopped playing when it became clear that was all I could do.
That was a great little game of exchanging stuff! Got a good laugh at the end after I jumped into oblivion XD Reminded me a bit of Paper Mario. I dug the tunes for sure! A+!

Very good, I could see you really put effort into designing the game. I thought everything was polished given the time limit. Only improvement I would make is to make the house/castle feel more chaotic/filled
Loved the music, art was very nice too. Nice game! :)
darkly funny, cool music, nice aesthetic and cute blurby voices. good work to all!
Very interesting game and some really great design choices here. The music was pretty good, and it was cool to have some voice effects in too, even if they were simple. The design choices certainly added some life and character into the game. I'm not sure that the theme was portrayed too accurately, but there's a solid story-based game here. 4.0 overall!
Well done on the graphics and lighting and great job on the audio!
Excellent use of Unity (in game credits, falling out of doors, 2D characters in a 3D world). Loved everything about the characters: their art (who draws a frog like that?? :D), the dialogue, the voice clip at the beginning. Really fun to play. Thanks for making it!
I think this could have worked a little bit better with ortographic camera. Managed to finish this in 8 minutes, I found the characters to be quite cute. Room full of reapers was a bit disturbing though :laughing: Good job
Really impressed with the mood and art direction. The characters were fun and the concept was different and kinda melancholic. Really enjoyed this one!
I really, really liked this game. My only issue is I wish you could've talked to the other reapers in the end, but the visual gag tying the game's title to its motif of characters/items as playing cards was *priceless.*
We are just clapping in front of our screen. Bravo, as we said in France !
This is a dark and interesting game. It reminds me a bit of point and click adventures, with how you need to gather items and talk to people to solve puzzles. The environment and assets are pretty diverse for a jam. Good job there.
I do wish that you could navigate the menus solely with the keyboard or a controller (but my jam game also had that issue, so I know how it goes). I also noticed an error that when the reaper jumped, his shadow jumped with him.
I like how "The Hand of Death" made sense at the end. It would have been interesting if you could interact with the card game somehow, if only cinematically, to tie it all together.
Good work here!
@sholyu @ryano @x-budsterized-x @simon-rahnasto @nandon @hubol @estuvomuybien @iferit @hexiez123 @sundancekid @khaotom @exevalon @bob174 @afroant @kuro @linnet5 @ryusui @dev-for-pizza Thank you so much for the kind words! Thanks for playing!
@florian-klein yay linux!
@ransom Thanks so much. If we decide to do a post-jam version, keyboard controls will be high priority, I agree. As for the reaper shadow, technically jumping is not part of the game - we just added it because it was fun. But yes, the shadow is awkwardly attached to the reaper, lol. As for the end, now that I think of it, having to talk to all four reapers and give them a card was a missed opportunity, wasn't it? Thanks so much!
Hey, the first game I relly played through to the end! :-) It'sa well rounded polished little game with great music, art and mood.
Really nice adventure game! It's easy, but some of the solutions to the puzzles were funny. The art and sound were great and set a nice mood.
Nice little game, soundtrack and visuals were great! I really like the style.
It's really creative and it's really the only time I've seen a 3D engine put to good use in Ludum Dare. The mix of 2D and 3D was something I'd never seen outside of Paper Mario. The story and dialogue were interesting and engaging. Unique characters are a bit of a rarity in these contests. The music was also good. Falling out of the world to exit was a really creative and funny addition as well.
It was a bit easy to get lost as to what to do next at some points and I would've liked some more content and challenges but in general it was all very well done.
A very nice game, with amazing art! I had a good time playing it! But it would be so much easier to play and I think it would get a better rating and more people would play it if you could play the game directly in the browser. With Unity you can simply change your game in the build settings to WEP-GL and upload it to e. g. itch. io or simmer. io.
Pretty neat. I managed to miss the sign above the door and accidentally quit the game. Fortunatelly it took just a moment to get back upto speed. Other than that, a neat entry. The sprite look in 3D is pretty charming and the music is really nice.
@davidus It might not be that simple. Some stuff doesn't work in webgl and a bit of additional work might be needed.
Really well produced game. Loved the graphics (sprites in a 3D game always looks awesome in my eyes!) and the music. Well... I loved all of it actually. A few bugs in WebGL. But it is a top notch game. Congrats to the whole team 🙌
excellent entry you guys put together. :)
