its look like vertical axis doesnt work. and you set too small frame on itch.io - it cuts game screen

minechael 2018-12-06 00:21

You could make it more sacrificey by having finite lives where each life is one of the cultists, so they are sacrificing themselves to get the book for the sacrifice. Nice job!

Fun! Hard to see where you're about to land, makes it extra difficult.

@poroh Thank you for playing, I will have a look at the resolution on itchio. Thank you for letting me know!

@minechael Ah that's an interesting idea, I take note! Thank you for your feedback!

A nice 2.5D platformer in phase with the theme ! I managed to finish it and, overall, had a great time, even I might have some suggestions for your future platformers :

Pros : - Great sound and minimal, but totally working graphics - Great controls - Balance is okay, it is, unlike many entries, possible to actually see the end - The teleportation at the end is a great idea

Cons : - The positioning of your camera : some of the obstacles hide the feet of the player, some gears also move perpendicularly to the horizontal axis, making it really hard to appreciate distances. - Some controls instructions at the beginning would be great

All in all, nice work !

@jlv Great feedback! I agree with your suggestions!

Cool quick game. I really like the graphics. It was sometimes kind of hard to see where the traps were until it was too late but I believe that was the idea.

Good job ! A cry for the death's sound would have been funny :)

Hey! Thanks again for rating our game :) I like that I could play yours with a gamepad. I got the book and finished it :) Next time, try looking at the Unity Cinemachine cameras -- it's one of the standard packages. Add a bit of screenshake here and there and let the camera follow the player smoothly. Other than that, good! As you can judge from my own game, I like cube-graphics :D

I hate platformers! Totally! Especially when I die lots of times... So why did I passed this game till the end? How does the game catched me? I do not know. But it did. Thank you, good work!

Glad you liked it @pcmaster and @dexp ! Cheers!

Sweet and short.

I like the main background music. The death sfx were quite annoying though. It's also possible to go outside the boundaries of the level if you keep going right after picking up the book ;)

I like the BGM a lot, however, the game doesn't provide me the feeling of sacrifice, the only thing that related to sacrification is very beginning of the game.

Decent game and implementation of the theme. Glad you put in the checkpoints very frequently, the game would've been much more frustrating without that. It would help if there were some shadows below the player or the camera were tilted toward the ground a bit more so the player knows where they're jumping more. Also different obstacles or mechanics would've added more challenge to the game, such as swinging pendulums or moving platforms or something just to mix things up. Also adding some simple animations would make all the characters feel much more alive, even if its just some simple rotations added using the animator in Unity.

Thank you for your in depth comment @cdunham . I agree with every suggestions you made and will try to do better for the next LD! Cheers!

Love the visuals and mood - would have like a bit more 'story' in there :) The jumping parts were not my thing, but I persevered. Nice job!
