LD45 — Start with nothing

Planet 7: No Data by Belonzik 2019-10-11T21:58:28Z

amazing game! loved the puzzles; there were a surprising amount of aha moments for such a small collection of things to work with. graphics, audio, and atmosphere were really nice, too. i found that the explosion mechanics were a little trial and error and i had to restart several times to figure them out, but definitely not a dealbreaker, as i enjoyed pretty much everything else in this game!

soliloquy by 3mpty 2019-10-10T01:09:29Z

some of my favorite games involve untaught, discoverable mechanics like yours, so for me this game was a lot of fun to play! the tiles were fun to figure out, and some of the later levels were especially clever. some tiles, like the knight-step-tile, were a little too difficult to figure out, but for the most part it's really well done!

Slave: Unchained by Tednesday 2019-10-13T16:03:39Z

super satisfying gameplay! i don't normally go on murderous rampages, but you made racking up large killstreaks extremely juicy and fun. this is probably the best human lawnmower sim in the entire galaxy.

@taophoenix thanks for the feedback! i pretty much agree with most of your points, except for one thing -

what do you mean by no sound? we definitely added music and sound effects to the game. maybe it's too quiet?

LD46 — Keep it alive

That Time I Crossed A Barren Desert To Protect&Care The World From Terrible Code by alaah 2020-04-21T18:51:52Z

- The interpretation of the theme as "Keep I.T. alive" is quite clever. - After installing two versions of the redistributable and restarting my computer, I finally got the game working! - Love how Apples(tm) fall from the sky. - The graphics and music are really nice! - Although patting Nem's head is a cute way of restarting the level, doing it three times every time was a little tiring! One click would have been better. - Completion time: 13:11. That level with the one-high tunnel was definitely the hardest!

Elevator Orator by Le Slo 2020-04-21T16:48:18Z

- Spent five minutes in total confusion! Though the game is really fun once you get the hang of it - Aaagh, my vocabulary keeps giving me words that end with "T"! - Wanted to type antidisestablishmentarianism, but I suppose that doesn't count as "small talk" - Seems you can go to another tab to "pause" the game and think about your next move. I didn't take advantage of it, though! - Sometimes, the game will start you with a mistake. Not too much of a big deal, though impossible.jpg - Amount of time I spent since first loading the game to get a satisfying high score: 48:01, with a score of 37! - Words that I keep typing for some reason: owl, gear, teem, rig, ghost

Keep it Fire by Mykola 2020-05-02T03:23:59Z

- Never heard a voice acted fire before - that's really neat - Interestingly, fire only drains when you first press run - if you keep holding, fire doesn't drain any faster than normal! This, of course, makes the fire really fast and hard to control. It's still fun to zip around, though! - My typical strategy was to get the player up to 100, dump about 90 into the bonfire, then collect the three nearest the fire and win - I sure did Die A Lot! Ended up making a route for that difficulty, which goes like this: rush over to the bottom left, picking up a triple and a single along the way and ending up with 40. Get the two triples down there, make the impossible corner jump, exiting with about 70, then rush along the top for the floating platform triple, for about 90. Get the top right triple, and then rush back to the fire, dumping in 90 and picking up the nearest three logs for the final 10! - Did I mention the impossible corner jump? It sure was impossible! - Never noticed that the single logs respawn - it isn't in the tutorial menu! My route never required respawning logs. - Completion time: 35:08 (I took 9:15 to beat Challenging, and the rest of the time to beat Die A Lot)

Whoops, accidentally posted the same comment thrice!

Interesting that there isn't a delete button on these.

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-04-21T03:22:24Z

- Lamp physics are the best - I'm not good with spooky stuff :( the knocking over of lamps is the only thing keeping me comfort - At some point, I stopped being able to bark. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but that's also super spooky if it was - At some point, I couldn't get past a corridor because of a lamp. It's really jives your jimmies when your comfort habit works against you - Completion time: NA. Got lost in the dark corridors, barkless, and to make things worse, I'd already had all the lamps already knocked over :( Atmosphere was great, even if horror isn't my thing

Please Stay by topbraj 2020-04-21T17:26:48Z

- I like the graphics a lot - it's simple, but clear and to the point. - The little dancing animation is cute - Keeping any more than two guests is much too difficult! The timers all run out so fast! - I made so many drinks. SO MANY! I've lost count of how many livers I've destroyed tonight. - Time survived: 16:55, with a score of 18

Ponk and Sheeply by jerripo 2020-04-21T02:27:48Z

- Surprisingly, golf! - Death animation is hilarious - The timer level at the end was a cute use of mechanics - Completion time: 10 minutes and 10 seconds

PULSE by JonasPK 2020-05-05T03:41:33Z

- Managed to net a consistent upwards gain! I can hang around 2800, the max score, for a very, very long time.

aorta.jpg

- Both the yellow sponges and the big rocks only block downwards bleeding. That's why my strategy mostly relied on redirecting clots to face downwards.

wrench.jpg

- How well I did relied mostly on how often those left-down and right-down corner pieces spawned! - The artery at the bottom was open a lot of the time. Redirecting it was too much work, so I mostly only ever blocked it with the 1x1 stopper. You only need to stop 3 arteries to increase your score, anyways! - Play time: 25:52

Area 64 by AdamWatters 2020-04-21T04:09:17Z

SPOILERS! - Small bug: after dying due to the torch running out, trying to start the game again puts me immediately into the game over screen. I can avoid the bug by loading a save, so it's not too big of a deal. - Whoever manages the generator house did not pass password security 101. - I like the little parallel between the starts of the two endings. - Completion time: 34:29. With two coffees and two decoys to spare! Although, the monster only ever seemed to get farther and farther away from me, so I didn't really need the decoys. If anything, it was the torch that was the main source of death.

Where did this baby come from? by maxflav 2020-04-21T04:29:23Z

- There are a surprising amount of babies this game jam! And they all seem to be *really good* at dying. - I like the mud mechanic! Certainly adds a twist to the "build walls to trap something" game type. - Completion time: 4:03. I found myself using a "pocket" strategy for most of the levels, making the baby going between two gates, then placing a gate in front of the baby so that it's forced to backtrack a step, as demonstrated below: exploit.jpg

Keep That Boy by David Knox 2020-05-02T04:24:33Z

- This music is nice! - Before pressing anything to start the game, I got up to do something, and when I returned, I had already died! I found that quite funny. - I don't know why, but there is something absurdly hilarious about "meat city" and "Alexander Tamilton". - Code that visually was split into multiple lines was a bit confusing at first! Once you get it, though, it's not so bad. - Didn't know that everything from THE GAMER STORE! was one time use at first, so I ended up wasting a perfectly good Hawaiian pizza - After buying everything and with progress being at 80%, I decided to sit back and relax, only making more money when necessary. It was a quiet and peaceful wait. But then at 100%, this jump scared me -

rent.jpg

Rent is terrifying, man. Spent another five to ten minutes pushing up to this sudden new goal.

silly.jpg

- Completion time: 31:52. My fingers! Aargh!
