Ok so I know you opted out of graphics but this is really gorgeous ! I was a bit frustrated by the fact that you can only attack horizontaly (unless I'm missing something) and that you only have a sword or a fireball, but this is a jam and overall I really liked this game :)

@discorde thanks a lot! Yeah, I've heard feedback that fireball should go in at least 8 directions and I plan to do that. Just didn't have enough time in this gamejam
A normal business trip. On my free moment, I took a nice walk under a lava-fall. Admired the burning views from the bridge made of skulls. Tried to get my pride-game strong. For work I had to fight some huge flying skulls and some crazy bitches. Tried to replace my arms with a lot of dead fallen off ones. Walked on boobs. Lovely atmosphere, nice warm place. 9/10 would visit hell again.

The combination of genres is pretty original. I'm usually not a fan of pixel-art but it matches your ambience very well. If the controls and combat system are a bit enhanced, it would give some dope sheit! P.S. Brutal mode is a bit, well, brutal.

@skdf F uck yea, thanks! Yeah, I have beaten brutal mode only twice myself. I plan to make some improvements, hopefully even over the next few weeks
A nice little Diablo-inspired game. It looks very good for a jam game, though of course you've spent two jams working on it. The style is quite nice overall. A few more options and possibilities in combat would perhaps be a nice addition.

@binaryspark Glad to hear that! Gives me inspiration to continue working on this :)
Nice Diablo mood! The game is quite simple but effective. The game can of course be improved (movements, hitboxes, bestiary) but has already a strong foundation. Good work!

@jonathan-lorenz awesome, thanks!

I think the art was excellent, but the level design and gameplay needed a bit of work. I think allowing arrow keys or WASD for movement would have gone a long way towards making the combat more manageable. Your fireballs didn't travel very far, so you had to get up close, but when you're fighting up close, moving with the mouse is very tricky.
Additionally, the level design suffers from an issue where you can't really see a clear delineation between walls and floors. You could in some spots, like on the ladder over lava or while on a bridge, but there were a few times where I got stuck because it *looked* like there was rubble in my way, but I could in fact walk over it.
In all though, I definitely got the Diablo 1 feel from it. I think that with a bit more work you could make an awesome post-LD version that would be a lot of fun.

@linear Thanks a lot for the feedback!
There will definitely be a post-LD version coming up, but it might not yet address the big issues like WASD control scheme and adding a clear distinction between walls and floors.
I thought this game will be some cluttered, over-complicated RPG, but man, was I wrong!
This is a very clear game, with enough challenge for noob or good players alike. I really liked the setting too, nice graphics!!
The theme might've been used better, but overall this is a very nice entry!

First of all, that pixel art and animations are stunning! Audio and tone of the game is also a thumbs up. I do recommend to make it a WASD game since moving around with point and click was kind of frustrating sometimes (especially during combat). Combat needed some work, and maybe even amplify the theme a bit. But overall, really well done!

The variety in the terrain is simply incredible for an LD game. There seemed to be a solid mana system in place, but it seemed to lack a diverse variety of spells. Because of this, there wasn't really any need for the lust stat, as mana regen wasn't a problem (fireball costs barely anything) and the spell cooldown reduction was abosultely miniscule. I also never found myself using melee, so the melee critical hit wasn't that great either.
I also found some of the point and click thing a bit glitchy or annoying. When clicking on menu buttons, the character would try to walk to whereever you clicked. When I'm interacting with the menu, the player shouldn't move. When the player wanted to go off the map, they also had a bit of a spasm. The enemies also liked walking across gaps.
The gameplay could have used some variation, but the graphics and mood were very good. Great creation!

@kornel-meszaros @hdugmag Thanks a lot! Really glad to hear you liked it
@justcamh I appreciate the detailed feedback! There's a lot of stuff to improve and the sin system isn't really balanced at the moment. I'll do my best to find the time to improve it all

I'm on linux and i only get a black screen (with sound, though). I've been known to get lots of weird bugs so it might be all on my side... Too bad!

@picapica aw shit, sorry about that - haven't tested it on Linux. I could try adding a build for a different architecture type, perhaps it will work for you. It should be up on itch.io after some 30 mins. Should I ping you when it's done?

sure, thanks! (hope it's not just me having unrelated issues)

@picapica I added a build for x86_64 architecture on itch.io. It should even have a new unique item that can drop in brutal mode :) In the worst case, there's always wine for emulating the windows version.

It worked! Unfortunately I sort of suck at these kinds of games, but I enjoyed this anyway (until I died one time too many). Good mood, and looking good. Tiny detail: your font is *barely* legible sometimes, but maybe that's not a problem if you sort of knows what it's supposed to say.

Oh, it's very cool for 72 hours) You are great, even if you abandoned the graphics and music, this game looks very good in terms of gameplay, it draws you to a finished project)

@picapica That's great to hear! I'll check if I can make the font bigger in some places.
@syrok Thanks a lot! I must admit that I started the game before Ludum Dare 43 - during the jam I added the item system, brutal mode and made some other smaller improvements.
Thanks for submitting I found the game overall is a bit too slowly evolving / not challenging enough.

@firesplash-entertainment wow, that's surprising :D Did you manage to beat the brutal mode?
Well I just hit play :D
HOLY CRAPS! This game is a freaking BEAUTY! I love the look and feel and controls and... EVERYTHING! I'm super impressed with what you were able to implement within a jam. Brilliant Job on This! :D

@ratherjolly Huge thanks, I'm really f*cking glad to hear that! I must admit that most of the graphics were done in Ludum Dare 42 though :D This time I added brutal mode, item system, changed the story and made some other improvements.
