Damn, that was one cool experience. That art style is fantastic.

Damn, that was one cool experience. That art style is fantastic.
I lived many lives but never found a way to keep in touch with my brother. Is it possible? Graphics and audio are outstanding. Loved the care you put in the feedback too.
The game was cool! I really liked the impact of jumping, so I was jumping the whole time while running lol
I liked the choices, but there were some times that I couldn't compare the two options. I wanted to read the second option but by moving forward I went too far and couldn't get back to the first one easily.
I didn't quite feel like I was making a choice that led to loosing part of my life, but overall the theme of moving through a life/time was well implemented.
I would have liked more options in the 4th stage, but I like the metaphor of the emptiness I did find.
I played the HTML version on Itch.io and the music was quite loud. If you decide to add more options in the future I would recommend you add a volume control.
Thanks for sharing your game.
This looks great, obviously. Fantastic graphics for 48 hours. The music is good too even if it feels a little mismatched to the graphics (which are more light-hearted). I like the idea of the game - that you can't have everything in life so you have to choose between things and that those choices can have lasting consequences.
I didn't feel much of that from the gameplay itself though. Just running to the right is a bit repetitive for me to want to go through and find all the different possible endings (maybe if they made me run faster). Also, is there anything I can do with the jump ability?
Yes, audiovisuals are great, but the strongest point is how reasonably and logically you balanced the choices, the outcome is a fantastic story always, full of emotions and outcomes, like in the good movie plot. Great game! :D
WOWW thats a great game, especially for a single dev. The characters are adorable and all of the choices are very relatable. Have my stars.
oh boy. thanks for giving me 5 minutes of introspection. i can imagine this having been hard to make. this game'll stay with me for a long while i think.
The game wasn't so fun to play in terms of controls and stuff to do but I really loved how well the theme was interpreted and (spoilers!) the decisions you have to make during life. Kudos! Awesome game!
The graphics were really good, and I appreciated the framerate counter. I enjoyed the story aspect of this, and the different types of choices were well thought out. I also really liked how the story changed in ways you wouldn't expect based on your past choices. The music was good, and it fit well with the tone of the game. I do wish that there was some other indicator or use for the different stat increases and decreases. I didn't quite understand what effect those would have on the game. Great entry - thanks for submitting it!
Nice concept! But pay attention to some details, like the relevant between accidental events and former choice. Also it will be better to show poperties.
Wow! I love the idea of this game also the art style is almost perfect! I could'n say it was fun but i think what this game it is about :D
I got a shitty life... I regret nothing! Great job!
Outstanding! The best game that I've played so far. A great use of the theme to come up with something unique and intriguing, I played it all the way through and really enjoyed the experience and the sense of perspective you get from it. Well done!
The music and graphics were amazing. The art style is really original and I loved it. The aspect of the game is also really fun! If only getting a girlfriend irl was as easy as pressing space :)
Well polished game, everything fits together perfectly. Good job!
Really innovative game, funnd and with awesome art, I really liked it! Only thing I kind of disliked was the type of music chosen as it didn't match with the mood of the game for me but still it was a great game!
Played it a few times, I liked how many options there were.
I love the style as well, with the mix of 2d and 3d.
Although good, the music got a bit repetitive over time.
I loved the game! It was a great experience with a lot of fun cynicism!
You lost hope because we're all gonna die. Well, that escalated quickly
Absolutely love the character design and presentation. Very sleek and adorable. My main gripes were that the music could have used some variation between levels and perhaps some of the events are a little too cynical/nihilistic, which go against the adorable presentation, although maybe that was on purpose?
Are any events random, or is it all scripted? I died with "a rebel attitude, travel memories, my partner, my kid, freedom, and inner peace" and it says that I could have done better, but honestly that sounds pretty great to me. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Great job!
Very well done. The options felt original and realistic, way too realistic maybe. It was fun, I enjoyed this approach to the theme ^^
art direction and humor top my list here, well done!
Adorable art, funny narrative splits, brutal reality, and a thumpin beat. I loved this. I laughed out loud when I got a sibling.
Great game! I liked the cartoon art with blurry backgrounds, and the choices were fun.
Neat! Cool art!
Really loved this. I tried making choices as I have in real life so and was surprised to see several events come up in response that have actually happened to me! The presentation is fantastic, and I really appreciate that you implemented controller support. This is maybe my favourite entry I've played so far! My only gripe is that the music, while well made, got pretty repetitive.
Love this game, the art and gameplay are awesome. I like that your choices affect the game. brilliant
The feels. All the feels. This game resonates way too much with everyone. It's brutal.
Easily 5 Stars.
"This was your life. You could have done better." Yup.
Amazing experience with so much going on, like the changing colour schemes and backgrounds. The art style was great and some elements being in the foreground were really cool, but when the purchase menus were also blurry and in the foreground, it made them a little difficult to see. Also made me wonder if it was making some kind of implication about which choice to make. Overall love it!
This game makes me feel so self-conscious  Great work though!
Loved every bit of it. Very clever humor. I would recommend a friend play this.
Wow, that was so polished. Really nice aesthetic and mood, and the little fx when jumping. I found myself jumping to the tune of the beat while I moved, and ended up buying a few things I didn't need... Completed 2 playthroughs, but some things were really inevitable I suppose, like moving to the big city and losing your friends. Could have used more branching there, but then again it's just a jam game so that doesn't matter much. It's the little touches of polish that you've put in there that make a simple concept so great to play.
This is one of my favorite entries this LD.
What an amazing game, it's very similar to a concept idea I had in the past, but it's so well executed and polished, I am amazed, congrats!
This was really a nice experience ! The visuals were cute and the idea is greatly executed. Keep up the good work !
Nice game! I was going to complain that I can't jump with w or the up arrow, but I didn't need to jump. So I guess it's a life choice whether or not the player aimlessly jumps.
Awesome experience, my kind of thing haha, congratz for the amazing game!
That was a really great experience, is there a way to find the meaning of life as you stated in the description? I'm really curious 😊
Anyway, I will replay this one later 😁
This was a nice entry. I went through it the first time and followed my life as closely as possible and lost my wife, but at least I had my freedom and inner peace lol. The second time I ended up with a house and a family.
I knew I should have skipped that degree! 10/10
Enjoyed this. A game about life choices is great, and well-implemented with nice graphics. I love the old age character an animation. At the end I had travel memories, an expensive car, freedom and inner peace. I don't think that was too bad at all!
This was a fantastic experience! the graphics are awesome and I absolutely loved the philosophy behind it all. Amazing polish and well thought out interactions between the choices. I enjoyed playing, thank you for making such a sweet game.
Really good entry, one of the best i played so far! I feel like the movement snd scrolling really conveyed a sense of moving on (in life). Each stage had its own mood graphics wise, which kept it fresh for me. I saw it on randomize user first, i like the choices and how they interacted, or reacted to the passing of time.
You aimed too well and hit too much
Really loved what you made there. Resonate a lot with our own entry, what we tried to accomplish (aka triggering reflexion about life and choices) you did it there really well, and in a different way. Super interesting to look at from my point of view!
Congrats, it's a great experience.
Very nice game! In some moments make me sad about life. It is very cool, that you make some things happened whatever choice, it is like in real life. Sound is good, but maybe I will prefer more optimistic. Opportunity to jump is good, but after having fun of running and jumping I felt little bit confused, because I thought that jumping must help you to get something, not only fun, and that i`ve missed something:) I like games with ideas. You did it cool! Very cute and simple graphics
Very cool visualization style. Quite a few options - and some of the random 'poofs' were quite striking :D
Uniquely done!~
I've actually wanted to make something similar to this for a couple of years. I'm glad someone did though, and you did it so well. I love the cute characterizations of things and the music. I love how 4.Old Age goes. Really well put together game. Great job!
That's an amazing take for the theme, good job! :D
I choose the opposite of the things I did in real life. Died in the end anyway.10/10
Hmmm, why can you triple jump? And what are the stats supposed to mean?
The general idea is pretty cool, but this game did not resonate with me very well. "You got good grades, you'll never have fun"... eeeh?
The simple but clean art was so well done. Thought it looked great and worked really well. Really interesting unique experience playing out the life and seeing how things worked out. Also liked that you got a summary at the end about the life you've lived and could play again to try and see what else you could have occur.
I loved this! Played through a bunch of times, but never really managed to end up with much - maybe that's the lesson... Appreciated some of the choice / consequence combinations. ;) Lovely artwork, audio suited perfectly and overall just a really enjoyable experience. Nice work!
Love this game! This is a fantastic interpretation of the theme and a joy to experience. Great audio, graphics, story element, and overall mood.
This was extermely beautiful... The music, the subtle sounds, the humor, all characters, everything from top to bottom. I replayed a few times and had similar results in the end.. I guess that's a life lesson?.. great job really really great
A really ambitious game and a really smart execution - made me feel stuff majorly!
gorgeous! love the HUD and "tutorial"
I loved the art, mood and concept. I found the idea for the game really interesting, it reminded me of Passage.
After a second playthrough where I did some radical changes to choices I missed more variation, most choices came and went and for the most part I didn't feel they had a huge impact. It could be a metaphor after all that most choices are meaningles since in the end we're all going to die, though.
You've got quite a unique experience here, with an impressive degree of polish for a compo entry, I'm envious
Congrats!
I played this game.. and got depression HAHAH just kidding. I really loved this. I played it a couple times to see what kinds of combinations there are. I am amazed at how everything feels really polished for such simple concept.
I spent the last 5 minutes living a life I never chose for myself... that guy was a loser. I'm awesome... speaking of awesome. Your game is awesome! I enjoyed it so much! Thanks for making it! :D
interesting way to tell a story, although I find it a pecimier. can I be too optimistic myself?
Very cool game, a bit too juicy (too much shaking screen etc) but that's ok.
Super interstering to dive into. Makes you think about yourself.
Great job and amazing art direction and polish.
Loved the artstyle and the intentionally minimalistic gameplay elements of moving forward with a bunch of cutesy stuff. Have to say that there seems to be less "game" here with choices not really causing an impact on gameplay, but I guess that's the point? Would love there to be some additional ways to retain your relationships.
This is exactly what I mean when I say that video games are art. This is fantastic.
Really impressive feel! I jumped alot in Old Age hoping for an "exercise credit" of some sort.....but kinda glad I didn't get one. ;) Love it!
An impressive game. The art and music are fantastic! And the sound effects fit the game perfectly. Great job!
Great game! Hits you harder the longer it goes. It feels so simple, but with just some small descriptions and reactions combined with the great representation of the events/people makes you strangely attached and regretful when you don't get to keep certain aspects. It becomes a strangely effective overview/history of a potential life. Love it!
I played through a couple times and each life seemed so sad. Hopefully there is one life that is happy. Loved the artwork and music. It was simple but impactful.
Very fun and polished experience. I didn't like how it judges your life at the end though, I was ok with my choices and their consequences, but it just said "eh, you can do better". Overall amazing job though, the level of polish is unreal
This is my favourite entry this LD. Great job, great summary, I better change something in my live ;-)
We always need to do chioces, right?
I kept watching my parents, but suddenly they went away(in the game)
Great Entry, I had fun (and got kinda sad). There really isn't that much to complain about, it just slightly annoys me that the music restarts every new sector. Good job!
I love this. The art style, the writing, the vfx, the choices.
My only real complaint it that this game is fairly taxing on my 6+ year old laptop. But you can't have everything.
I'm rarely a fan of these types of shader/post-processing effects, but there wasn't action gameplay or anything going on here, so I'm ok with that stylistic choice! Pretty fun, though I worry it could feel a bit heavy-handed at times. Still, that's sort of what you sign up for, no? The number and variation of choices, both meaningful and meaningless (aren't they all meaningless in the end?) was fine considering the timeframe.
My #1 critique would be that you should give text labels to all of the other "characters". I appreciate that their visual design evokes the imagery of that particular thing, but I think when you've got a group of them it becomes a lot harder to remember what "orange blob with two dots" is and I think you lose out on some thoughtful reflection from the player there.
My #2 suggestion is that you might want to think about movement and how it integrates into the game holistically. Right now there's almost no reason for being able to jump 3 times and why as a player I need to walk to the right by pressing the right arrow button -- the only difference from a pure "choice" game is that I need to wait for my character to actually walk the distance to the next choice. That's OK, but what about doing something a little more meaningful with the movement? The most common trope here of course is mirroring the arc of life in your movement abilities -- when you're a child you have almost no abilities at all, and can only crawl, but only later on do you gain the ability to run, jump, etc. But as old age sets in, these abilities are lost and movement slows again.
Variation in the music would be lovely as well, but even if you didn't have time to write a completely new song for each section, maybe at the very least throw some filters or reverb effects on? There are some very simple ways to create variation without too much work that will match the arc of your theme.
Good luck!
The artstyle is cool, making your small story yourself is cool. The gameplay is lacking, but this kinda comes with this kind of games, right? Great submission!
This is amazing from start to finish, including the final summary. The old age phase is depressing as hell. The only minor gripe I can think of - the end of each era could be a trigger as walking into a wall looks a bit wonky and breaks the flow, but maybe I missed the point.
Great game! Style and the story using different choices are amazing! The resume of your life is the best part! Only one thing: maybe the texts disappear too fast. Overall it's a fantastic game! Congrats! Good job!
I really liked playing this, the characters are very cute and sort of wobbly? I also liked the sort of realistic choices and how you lose things. The simple gameplay and the song were also very nice.
Great game you got here! Solid entry.
A lot of thought clearly went into this entry. I really liked the presentation - the slightly shaky camera, the blur effects on the objects in the fore and background. I also thought the personification of these things you collect and carry through life was really clever - especially the way they killed off and replaced other things.
The music got very repetitive and I think the levels could have been ended more elegantly but other than that, pretty solid.
Woah, great game. I had a similar narrative style/concept I wanted from my game but got bogged down in other stuff, you executed the core idea really well! Love the graphics too, minimalistic but super effective. And I really liked how the choices had an effect on other choices, certainly made you think a bit!
Wonderful. Looks awesome, I really like how the backgrounds change as you grow up, and the drawings for the different things. Music is great, although it starts to get a bit repetitive. Solid in-world UI design. Writing is good (nice Bowie reference). It's funny how having the ability to jump and double-jump keeps me occupied and happy during the slow parts. Lots of nice little polish touches, like having my followers turn at randomized delays when I turn; ends up feeling really good. Jump and landing VFX are perfect.
I would have liked to feel like I had more control. I wanted to hang onto my nerdy passion (it's why I took a boring job the second time!), but couldn't find a way to do it. Maybe I need to try again and avoid friends and love more though... hm.
Awesome work.
Awesome introspective experimental game; the combination of abstract 3d and shaders with cute cartoonesk characters looks great ; I spent way too much time playing this as I always COULD do better, people around me where kinda curious about the life they could have and were very enthousiast to try the game.
I think I've played more than one hour with mates but I must admit after instrospection when checking the summary of what you've done, the fact of always having this "you could have done better" is quite frustrating, I wonder (and doubt) if there is really a way to do something ~~better~~ perfect ? That's too much introspection... :) That's life !!
Congratulations, the concepts is really well executed and stuck me for too long. Great.
Truly a unique game
